Chapter 553

Outside the door, Kirk was just about to drive off when Jude rushed out of the Collinses‘ residence with Eddy’s help.

Kirk’s eyes narrowed.

In that short moment, Jude managed to reach the car and started knocking on the window.

Kirk tilted his chin, signaling for the driver to open the door.

The driver got out of the car and opened the door.

Looking at Kirk inside the car, Jude smiled. “Kirk, do you mind if we get a ride in your car?”

“Of course not. Please do get in, Uncle Jude.”

Kirk extended a hand to help Jude into the car. Once Jude was settled in, Eddy got into the front passenger seat.

After he was settled in as well, Eddy hurriedly asked, “Uncle Kirk, what was all that just now?

What happened to Caroline?”

When Eddy had heard that Jane was involved in an abduction and murder case and that the target was Caroline, his heart had started beating wildly. Now, he couldn’t help but ask Kirk about it.

Kirk expended all his effort to control his expression.

He said indifferently, “I’m not sure myself. From what the police said, Jane got more than ten of her bodyguards to try and kill Caroline. It should be something like that, I think?”

“Then Caroline must be in a lot of danger now. No, this won’t do.” Eddy took out his phone.

“I have to look for her. She should stay at our hospital.”

The hospital under Morrison Corp was the best in all of Easton.

As Eddy made his phone call, Jude spoke up. “Kirk, why didn’t you tell us something so big had happened?”

“I only just found out.”

Jude asked, “Is that so? Why does it sound to me like you knew about it much earlier?”

“Uncle Jude, you must be joking. I’m not a fortune teller.”

Kirk answered so smoothly that there was no trace of anything amiss. Jude was still worried about Caroline’s condition, so he didn’t keep asking about it.

After a long while, Eddy finally ended his call. He let out a heavy breath.

“Grandpa, she’s fine. I just asked. The hospital said that they had given Caroline a sedative, so she’s currently unconscious. She should wake up tomorrow, so you don’t have to worry.”

Jude glanced at Kirk and said with a chuckle, “Am I the only one worried? Aren’t you worried too?”

These words were directed at Eddy.

In response, Eddy angled his body to face the two men in the back seat, his expression strange.

“Grandpa, why would I be worried about her? But regardless of anything, she took care of me for eight whole years. Of course, I hope that she’ll be fine.”

His eyebrow twitched.

“Kirk, are you alright?” Jude asked, looking at Kirk.

Kirk only smiled. “I’m fine.”

Right then, Eddy’s voice came again. “If you ask me, Caroline’s husband is really useless. If he had any capabilities at all, he wouldn’t have let her get hurt. But she still treats him like such a treasure.”

Eddy kept nagging, unaware of the conflict going on behind him.

Hearing Eddy’s words, Jude glanced at Kirk again.

Still, Kirk’s expression remained indifferent the whole time, completely unaffected by the words.

After a long time, Eddy got tired of talking when no one responded to him. He shut his mouth.

Then, Jude spoke up again. “Kirk, I’ve always wanted to ask you something. It seems I have the chance now.

“Why did you choose to partner with Collins Group? Although they’re in the entertainment industry and indeed take up a lot of the market share, I remember you saying that you like to work alone.”
