Caroline’s text read, “Have you eaten? I made a little too much food for dinner.”

Right now, Kirk was sitting in his office, listening to his subordinates reports about their work progress.

He had a gloomy expression as he listened. He looked so terrifying that the subordinate trembled in fear, almost biting his tongue several times.

Everyone else was also nervous, and they didn’t dare to breathe. This tense situation had lasted for over a month. Everyone was exhausted.

Just at this moment, everyone heard a sharp ring in the office. Apparently, someone hadn’t muted their phone.

No one could believe someone still made such a stupid mistake at a crucial time like this. They secretly cursed the person who hadn’t silenced their phone.

The next second, Kirk picked up his phone and looked at it.

Everyone was silent. Before they could recover from their fear, they saw a smile appear on Kirk’s face for the first time in a month. The sight shocked everyone so much that their jaws dropped.

The only calm person was Charles, who immediately guessed the text message was from Caroline.

Sure enough, Kirk stood up the next second and said calmly, “Since all of you have worked hard today, you can get off work.”

Everyone looked at Kirk as if they had seen a ghost. Had the world turned upside down or something?

Their boss finally knew how hard they had worked!

Everyone was so emotional that they almost burst into tears.

Kirk had already put his phone away and walked to the door. As soon as Kirk left, everyone else surrounded Charles.

“Charles, what happened to our boss?”

Charles looked at everyone with a smile. “Your better days are here. Go and celebrate tonight.”

Everyone was puzzled by his words.

However, Charles didn’t explain any further and quickly caught up with Kirk. He also smiled when he saw Kirk’s relaxed expression. He had really changed a lot ever since he had gotten married to Caroline.

Previously, nothing could affect his emotions. But now, Caroline could easily affect him, even with just a movement or a glance.

Kirk finally seemed like a normal person who felt joy, anger, and sorrow.

Charles didn’t know what everyone else thought of this change, but he preferred Kirk as he was now.

Meanwhile, in Morrison Manor, Jude slowly opened his eyes after listening to Simon’s report.

He praised, “Carrie is really amazing. She brought Evans Group back to prosperity without our help.

“I already told Eddy that Caroline was a good match for him, but he didn’t believe me. He insisted on getting together with Layla. By the way, did you find any news about Carrie’s husband?”

Simon said, “Not yet. He seems to know we’re investigating him.”

Jude waved his hand. “What about Kirk? What has he been busy with? He hasn’t visited me for a while.”

Simon looked at Jude awkwardly.

“What’s wrong? Just tell me what’s on your mind.”

“Sir, I–I suspect Mr. Kirk is Ms. Evans“husband!”
