Chapter 475
Bogus Billionaire
âWhat are you up to?â Caroline could tell these men were up to no good. She secretly used Soniaâs body as cover to call the authorities.
âNothing much.â The person who spoke was probably their leader. He was casually holding a baton in his hand, tapping it on his palm.
âWeâre just a little short of money, and we would like to borrow some from you.â
Just as Caroline was about to speak, Kirk walked to stand between her and the leader.
The leader was a head shorter than Kirk, so he had to raise his head to see him clearly. But as soon as his eyes met Kirkâs, he trembled in fear.
The man before him had eyes as sharp as daggers, and he had an air of danger. He could tell this man couldnât be trifled with.
But he remembered the generous reward he would get. Besides, they only had one man on their side.
At this thought, he became more courageous and tightened his grip on his baton.
âWhatâs wrong? Arenât you going to pay?â
Kirk raised his hand and grabbed his neck. The leader was caught off guard, and his eyes widened.
He raised his baton, trying to hit Kirk, but he couldnât muster any strength.
The situation escalated so suddenly that everyone rushed toward Kirk like a swarm of bees.
Seeing that they had begun fighting, Sonia braced Caroline behind her. With a clean sweep of her leg, she kicked down three men rushing toward them.
The sight amazed Caroline. Sonia was so cool!
Kirkâs moves were even cleaner and sharper. He didnât fight flamboyantly like Sonia. Instead, he would deliver every blow with all his strength.
With each punch he threw, someone would fall to the ground, incapacitated.
Just like that, the two of them defeated dozens of men.
Before Caroline could smile in relief, she saw someone getting up behind Kirk with a knife he had gotten out of nowhere. She didnât even have time to warn him when she saw the man stab Kirk in the back as he walked toward her.
âKirk!â Caroline yelled anxiously.
Behind him, the tip of the knife pierced Kirkâs back. The man only made a shallow cut before he lost his strength.
Kirk felt danger coming from behind him and was about to fight back. But seeing the fear in Carolineâs eyes, he changed his mind. He pressed his back against the tip of the knife and backed away forcefully.
Shunk! The knife stabbed into his chest. A huge wave of pain surged from his back, spreading throughout his body.
Caroline, who was running toward Kirk, also heard the sound of a stab.
She stood there blankly, watching Kirk smile at her.
âDarling â¦â His mouth opened and closed as his body slowly fell to the ground.
Caroline didnât care about anything else. She rushed over and tightly hugged Kirk, who was about to fall.
With tears in her eyes, she sobbed, âKirk â¦â
As her tears fell on his cheeks one by one, Kirk discreetly curled his lips into a small smirk.
The police soon arrived at the scene and took the dozens of thugs away. The doctor who followed them took Kirk to the hospital.
Although the knife wound was deep, it hadnât damaged any vital parts of Kirkâs body. The doctor briefly treated the wound and gave instructions before leaving the ward.
Caroline finally breathed a sigh of relief when she learned Kirk was fine.
She glanced at Sonia, who hadnât left yet. âYou should go home, Sonia. There are many people here. It would be bad if they recognized you.â
Sonia nodded, not wanting to cause more trouble for Caroline.
Noticing the worry on Carolineâs face, she couldnât resist saying, âYou donât have to worry, Sonia had only found out Kirkâs name when they had admitted him to the hospital.
