Chapter 419
Bogus Billionaire
Caroline had never treated Adrian this coldly before.
But now, because he had brought up divorce, she â¦
He said, âBut since he hit me, arenât you worried that-â
âHe wonât.â Caroline fully trusted Kirk when it came to matters of physical violence.
âHe wouldnât do something like that.â
Adrian immediately became speechless. The silence wrapped around his chest like a web. After a while, he smiled. âYouâre right. He wouldnât.â
Caroline looked at him, confused by his words.
Adrian smiled, feeling resigned. âHe punched me just now because I provoked him on purpose. So he wasnât in the wrong. Iâm the wrongdoer here.â
Carolineâs expression shifted at his words. âAre you telling the truth?â
Her expression tugged at Adrianâs heart, but he still said with a smile, âYeah.â
âWhy did you do that?â Caroline was angry.
Adrian looked at her, hurt swirling in his gaze. All the things he wanted to say were stuck in his throat.
After a moment, he smiled sadly and apologized, âIâm sorry. I just wanted to test him, but I never thought it would cause such a big misunderstanding.â
âYou shouldnât be apologizing to me,â Caroline snapped at him. Then, she ran out of the room.
Looking at the empty door, Adrian smiled. It stretched his wound again.
However, he didnât feel any pain this time, probably because the pain in his heart overshadowed the physical pain in his cheek.
He had known for a long time that Caroline and her husband had a very good relationship. But he hadnât expected Caroline to care about him so much.
Even when they were fighting, they were on the same side.
Adrian seemed to have lost. However, he was very unwilling to admit that.
After Caroline left Adrianâs room, she went straight to the first floor. Yet, Kirk and Sean were no longer in the lobby.
She quickly asked the receptionist, who said they had already left. But she didnât know where they had gone.
Caroline ran to the door, feeling dizzy from anxiety. Then, she realized that they might have gone to a nearby clinic. She ran to the front desk again and asked if a clinic was nearby.
The receptionistâs English wasnât very good, and she had a Macovian accent. Caroline used a lot of effort to figure out what she was saying.
Although she was a bundle of nerves, she tried her best to listen to the receptionistâs directions patiently.
After getting the directions, she thanked the receptionist and hurriedly left the hotel. Following the receptionistâs directions, Caroline headed to the nearby clinic.
Half an hour later, she finally arrived at the clinic. She happily opened the door, only to find the small clinic packed with people.
This was probably the largest clinic nearby, so the Macovians were here to see a doctor.
Caroline searched around, but she still couldnât find Kirk. The excitement she felt dissipated in an instant.
Having no choice, she squeezed her way to the nurseâs desk and asked if two foreigners had been there.
The nurse answered, âYes, but theyâve already left.â
Caroline was about to turn around in disappointment, but she almost collided with two people walking toward her.
When she clearly saw who they were, she frowned in confusion.
