Vivan crouched and helped Susan up, with sympathy written all over her face. Yet her eyes had a sharp and sinister gleam to them, âWhen youâre in there, remember that there are things that you should and shouldnât say,â she whispered.
Then, Vivian raised her voice and said, âSusan, youâve been by my side for so many years. How could you do this?
Sighing, she added, âFollow the rules when youâre in there. When youâve turned a new leaf and are released in the future, Ill surely give you a new job so that you can start anew.â

No one dared to stay and watch any longer, and all of them went back to their spols lo continue their work.
Caroline called out to Vivian, âVivian, please slay.â
Vivlan balled her hands and tried to push away the burning rage within her. Slowly, she turned to lace Caroline with a smile on her face, âWhatâs the matter, Caroline?â
âSusanâs your subordinate. She wouldnât have done this without your order.â
âWhat are you saying?â
âYou and I know full well that sheâs a scapegoat.â
âOh really? Are you going to fire me then?â
Caroline smiled. âWell, Iâm all about proof and evidence, so I wonât frame others to achieve my goals.â
Vivianâs eyes spat fire when she looked at her.
After taking several deep breaths, she sneered. âStop blabbering. Just lire me if you want to. Other companies will hire me even if I leave Thome Corp!â Vivian had nothing to fear.
Smiling, Caroline replied, âIndeed, you can go to some other place after leaving this company, but what goes around comes around. I suggest you know your place and stop scheming.â

âWhatâs going on? I heard that the police came not long ago,â he said.
The scowl on Vivianâs face instantly vanished, and she started protesting, âMr. Hawkins, Susan made a blunder, but Caroline made a fuss out of it. She keeps saying that I was involved in it. Donât you think sheâs being unreasonable?â
Jules knitted his brows and looked at Caroline. âIs that true?â
Caroline briefed him about what had happened and added, âVivian and I were simply discussing ways to handle our subordinates in the future. Even though this issue had nothing to do with her, Susan was her subordinale. Besides, the problem happened in the office, so she canât shirk her responsibility.â!
Jules heartily agreed with Caroline. âThatâs right. Even though it wasnât your fault, Vivian, you were too lenient with Susan,â he said.
âYou should reflect on this. If something like this were to happen again, Iâd have to reconsider your position as a director.â
Vivian paled at his words. In truth, Jules was well aware of the battle between Caroline and her, but he chose to turn a blind eye to it.
