Love at the Wrong Table Emmanuel Lowe Chapter 471
Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 471
Mackenzie teased, âAre you doing it or not? If not, Iâll ask Wally and my family
bodyguards to follow me.â
At that, she took out her phone and pretended to make a call.
As expected, Emmanuel put a hand on hers and said, âThen let me go with
you. I donât trust others to do that.â
His sweet words put a smile on her face, but she immediately frowned to
cover it.
After starting the car, he asked, âIsnât the Lenoir family working with the
Verkades against the Quillen familyâs business? Why is Tobias investing in
your familyâs business?â
At that, Mackenzie answered, âYou donât know General Lenoir. He might look
like a serious man, but heâs a playboy who had many wives.â
Emmanuel knew the fact about Adolph. Claudette once told him that her
mother was Adolphâs third wife, while Laura was his fourth wife. However, it
wasnât a rare case to marry many women in the social circle of wealthy and
influential figures.
Mackenzie continued, âEven though Tobias is a goodâforânothing, heâs the
richest son in the family because his mother came from a wealthy family in
Yeringham. She left a whole lot of wealth for him before she passed away. He
should be able to live a comfortable life with that money.â
âI see.â Emmanuel nodded. That explains why I never see the same woman
around Tobias for more than a week. Heâs a playboy like his father, and his
motherâs legacy enables him to be a playboy.
âLetâs just wait and see what happens. Maybe heâs sincere about investing in
the Terence Group.â
Mackenzie suspected Tobiasâ motives, but the Terence Group needed the
money. She had no choice but to meet him. However, she decided that she
would make him pay if it was a prank.
Two hours later, the Maserati stopped in front of a villa on the outskirts of
Yeringham.
It was a huge villa, and the decorations exuded a romantic vibe. Mackenzie
suspected that this place was where Tobiasâ secret lover stayed.
The two got out of the car and walked into the villa. An old man approached
them with a few bodyguards in tow.
âMr. John!â Mackenzie, a usually distant woman, took the initiative to greet the
old man upon spotting him. She looked at him warily.
After all, the old man was a former personal bodyguard of Tobiasâ mother. He
was skillful, and it helped him to earn a reputation in Yeringham. Therefore,
Mackenzie knew him.
âMs. Quillen, Mr. Lenoir is expecting you. Please follow me.â
The old man, Felix John, treated Mackenzie with respect by bowing to her.
However, he ignored Emmanuel as if he didnât see the younger man.
He had no idea about the relationship between Mackenzie and Emmanuel, so
he assumed Emmanuel worked for her.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel paid no mind to Felixâs attitude. He followed them into
the villa, and his discovery shocked him.
A romantic candlelight dinner was prepared in the center of the room even
though it was daytime.
What am I expecting? Heâs a playboy! Emmanuel knew Tobias was up to
something.
âMr. Lenoir hopes to see Ms. Quillen alone. Anybody who doesnât need to be
here should leave.â With that, Felix turned to Emmanuel.
âIâm not just anybody,â Emmanuel retorted. Iâm here to protect her! I canât let
her out of my sight!
âIf youâre not just anybody, I assume youâre Ms. Quillenâs husband?â Felix
mocked. Little did he know, he was right on point.
Since Emmanuel refused to budge, the men behind Felix immediately walked
to stand behind Emmanuel.
âMs. Quillen, you should go now if youâre not ready for this meeting.â Felix
didnât order his men to act, but his tone was determined.
Emmanuel wanted to persuade Mackenzie to leave. After all, judging from
the environment and the request, anyone could tell that Tobias was trying to
make a move on Mackenzie.
âDonât worry about me, Emmanuel. You can wait outside.â
In the end, Mackenzie asked Emmanuel to leave.
Might as well stay and make the best of it since Iâm here.
As the president of the Terence Group, Mackenzie had been dealing with
tough tasks for the company. She wouldnât give up that easily just because of
a little change in the event.
