Love at the Wrong Table Emmanuel Lowe Chapter 443
Love at the Wrong Table
hapter 443
Emmanuel couldnât contain his laughter at Mackenzieâs childish expression.
âDo we really need to compare things like this?â he chuckled.
âOf course! If a woman marries a man who loves her less, sheâs at a
significant disadvantage,â Mackenzie replied seriously. Deep down, she
worried that he might take offense or feel unhappy with her words. However,
his response surprised her. Instead of getting upset, he said, âWell, it looks like
Iâll have to love you even more in the future. Otherwise, youâll be at a
disadvantage!â
The atmosphere in the room shifted with that simple statement, leaving
Mackenzie stunned as she stared at him, utterly agog. His words came
straight from his heart, and this time he could truly feel the love Mackenzie
had for him-something he hadnât realized before. Of course, he also felt the
depth of his own love for her, surpassing the initial infatuation he had
experienced.
Their eyes locked, and suddenly, the surrounding air seemed to ignite. Then, Emmanuel took a step forward as if he was entranced, gently caressing her
cheek with the back of his hand. The smooth and tender sensation intensified
the burning feeling in his heart. At that moment, even the most oblivious
person would recognize that what he felt was love.
His body felt an intense heat driven by his primitive instincts, and his courage
swelled to an unprecedented level. Before he knew it, he found himself lightly
holding her face, his head tilting down to meet her soft cherry lips.
Simultaneously, Mackenzieâs body trembled intensely. Once again, this man
kisséd her! Annoyingly, though, this time it felt different from before. Although
she instinctively put up a meager fight, her body responded to the pleasure,
as if she was melting away. She slowly closed her eyes, ready to let
Emmanuel take what he desired.
However, it seemed as though Emmanuel had suddenly regained his senses.
His face flushed with embarrassment, and he quickly took two steps back,
apologizing profusely, âIâm sorry! I⦠I didnât mean to!â Mackenzie widened-her
eyes in disbelief, staring at his apologetic expression. Was this man a fool?
She hadnât resisted him at all, so why did he stop and apologize?
She was unable to bear his apologies any longer, so she slapped him across
the face and spoke coldly, âYouâre in trouble if you dare to do this again next
time!â After she delivered him a stern talking to, she turned around with a
flushed face and retreated back into the room. She leaned against the door,
and pressed a hand against her chest, feeling her heart pound.
Emmanuel covered his face, consumed by regret. When did he become this
kind of person? Acting like a pervert and taking the initiative like that was not
who he wanted to be. He sighed, realizing that his lack of self-control was to
blame. It was all because Mackenzie had charmed him with her everything.
He résolved not to repeat his actions in the future, fearing that his wife would
become enraged and ignore him.
The next morning, Emmanuel woke up early and found that Mackenzie had
already risen and freshened up. He couldnât help but exclaim, âArenât you Ms.
Quillen from the Quillen family? Youâre the female CEO of the company. Why
are you heading to work earlier than the employees?â
She retorted, âYouâre not sleeping in either! Is there a rule that bosses canât
start work earlier than the employees?â
Surprisingly, he nodded earnestly and replied, âWell, I just worry about you.
Other bosses are all relaxed and carefree. Why do you have to work so hard?â
His somewhat foolish yet genuine question once again made her heart
flutter.
