Love at the Wrong Table Emmanuel Lowe Chapter 440
Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 440
Felicity was a little miffed when she heard Mackenzie still talking to her in that
tone. Though, she didnât lose her temper.
The next moment, she heard Emmanuel quietly say to Mackenzie, âHey, how
can you speak to your mother with this attitude?â
In his heart, he also felt it was wrong for Mackenzie to say such things. After
all, mothers always wanted the best for their daughters. Besides, it was true
that his status was indeed not worthy of Mackenzie.
âYou, too! Shut up!â
Mackenzie became angry and glared at Emmanuel. This idiot! Iâve chosen to
be with him, yet he still wanted to speak up for my mother?! What is he
thinking?!
Scared by her angry expression, the man could only keep quiet and stay out
of their mother-daughter conversation.
Felicity was a smart woman, so she instantly knew the situation on the other
side. She never expected that her daughter would even have that man by
her side during their phone call. It seems like their relationship is way closer
than I thought! Could it be that they have consummated their marriage?
Thinking about this, Felicity felt uncomfortable, but she still wanted to confirm
it personally. So, she continued, âMackenzie, Iâll come and see you tomorrow.â
âWhat do you want to do by coming here?â Mackenzie responded cautiously.
Emmanuel couldnât help but gently pat her shoulder, his eyes telling her she
should respect her mother. Regardless of what had happened between
them, children should always show filial piety to their mothers. At least, that
was what he thought.
Mackenzie glanced at his eyes and understood what he meant, furrowing her
brows in acknowledgment.
However, Felicity, who was unaware of the man she despised speaking up for
her in front of her daughter yet again, casually found an excuse in response
to Mackenzieâs question. âIâve never visited you after you got married. So,
tomorrow, Iâll fulfill my responsibilities as a mother. Otherwise, Emmanuel
might think I havenât been visiting you both all this time because I dislike him.â
Mackenzie couldnât help but laugh mirthlessly. This woman still wants to
pretend, huh? Itâs so obvious that she doesnât like Emmanuel, though!
However, Emmanuel had been right to remind her to mind her manners.
Felicity was still her mother, no matter how distant their relationship might be.
That was a fact that couldnât change.
âWhatever. So, when will you come?â
âWell, around 6.00PM tomorrow. You should be off work and at home by then.â
Felicity confirmed the time.
âOkay.â
With that, Mackenzie hung up the call. Regardless of Felicityâs intentions, her
willingness to come here made their marriage seem more genuine.
Otherwise, it felt like their marriage was just a game and nothing serious.
After Mackenzie hung up the phone, Emmanuel seized the chance and said,
âMackenzie, since your mother is coming, why donât you go and get ready? Iâll
take care of the kitchen.â
In truth, he felt sorry for his wife doing all the housework, so he found an
excuse.
Mackenzie knew what he was trying to do, so she glared at him and coldly
asked, âWhat? Am I not doing it well, or do you just look down on me? Arenât
the dishes I washed just fine?â
The man was left speechless for a moment. Then, he teasingly said, âYes,
they are. Theyâre looking brand new even!â
âYou-shut up!â
Her pretty face instantly turned red. She angrily splashed water on her
husbandâs face before exiting the kitchen.
Ugh! Emmanuel touched his nose, thinking of how foolish he was. Once again,
he had upset his wife. Though, it was true that the chores in the kitchen were
not suitable for his goddess-like wife to do.
Just as he finished tidying up the kitchen and walked out, his phone started
ringing.
