On the other hand, Benny and his family, who normally act with an air of

superiority, knew that the Oatley family was well–off from their luxurious

clothes and Jessica’s bejeweled appearance. Therefore, they did not muster

the nerve to offend them.

Nevertheless, Roselynn immediately lost her temper and stomped over in her

high heels. “Do you think 30 thousand is a lot for a dowry? That’s for my mom,

so it doesn’t include the fee for the wedding banquet!”

Instantaneously, Jessica’s face flushed red, and she jabbed a finger toward

Roselynn.

After seeing that, Jaxton hurriedly held his sister back, not because he was on

the Lowe family’s side, but because Roselynn was just too beautiful. Besides,

he knew his wife’s temper well and feared that she would return the dowry

and refuse to marry him if offended, so he decided to defend her. After all, he

was well aware of the number of suitors she had in the past.

“Hmph, fine, you can take your time! We’ll wait for you to finish and pick up

the bride later!” Jessica eventually relented and let Roselynn off the hook.

“I’m sorry. We didn’t put enough thought into today’s events. Please forgive

us!” Alessandra quickly expressed her regrets to the groom and his family.

On the other hand, Ryder felt bad for Roselynn and her family, so he pushed

Abellyn out the door to keep their personal problems from spilling over into

their wedding celebration.

Nevertheless, Mackenzie and Claudette silently watched the commotion

from the kitchen. Due to the Oatley family’s haughty demeanor, neither

believed that Roselynn’s position in the family would be anywhere near the

top once she married Jaxton.

At that moment, Emmanuel had a lot on his plate, but nobody was around to

help him in the kitchen because they were all too preoccupied with the

argument or the commotion. Hence, he had no spare time to care about

what was happening outside. After finishing the preparations with much

difficulty, their relatives and friends arrived, and the banquet officially

commenced. It was then that he was called to the main hall. According to

tradition, the groom’s sibling was required to prepare a monetary gift for the

bride’s younger brother before taking the bride home.

At this point, Jaxton and Jessica were already seated in the main hall, where

she was sitting with an air of superiority befitting a queen on her throne.

“Manny, where’s your wife?” Alessandra inquired when she couldn’t find

Mackenzie. After all, Jaxton and Jessica were to present the couple with their

monetary gifts.

“Mackenzie just so happens to be busy. Should I accept her gift on her

behalf?” Since he wanted his sister’s birthday to be a happy occasion, he

swallowed his pride and told his mother a white lie. He knew his wife would

not come out with him with that personality of hers to serve her brother and

sister–in–law tea in exchange for money.

Despite this, his mother was also aware of her daughter–in–law’s personality,

so she did not force her to show up either.

“Hmph, she doesn’t even want money? Then, no!” Jessica scoffed.

Everyone at the scene thought that her behavior was selfish. Why couldn’t

she spare some money when both families were already relatives? Was she

planning to give them a hefty gift?

However, Emmanuel was unphased. It’s not a big deal if they don’t give us

anything. The Oatley family might be wealthy, but my wife isn’t poor either!

After handing out the monetary gifts and completing the necessary

formalities, the Oatley family left the Lowe Residence and returned to the car

to wait for Roselynn. While Jaxton still gave the bride’s family a toast with a

smile, Jessica went through the entire process with a sour expression as if

she had a grudge against the Lowe family.

When Emmanuel returned to her side, Mackenzie asked, “Your

brother–in–law’s sister acts a lot like a bigshot. How much did she give us?”

After he opened it and saw only a hundred inside, her lips curled up into a

disdainful smile. How stingy!

“All right, Roselynn, don’t let Jaxton and the others wait too long. It will be a

long journey, so you should return with them as soon as possible!”

When evening came, Alessandra began to send her daughter away.

However, even though she had a good heart, it was a completely different

case for Roselynn!

On the other hand, Roselynn had seen enough of how the Oatley siblings and

their family did not respect her family, so she immediately declared coldly,

“Just let them wait. I’ll go with them after all of our relatives leave!”
