Chapter 266
Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 266
âHmph! Finally, you see my beauty,â Roselynn said.
She was so proud of how she looked that she even struck a pose.
âI am your brother, Roselynn. I am not your husband. Save the poses for when
youâre married,â Emmanuel protested with an awkward laugh.
âHuh? Are you tired of living?! Iâll teach you one last lesson before Iâm married
off!â
The siblings started playâfighting.
They only stopped when Alessandra walked into the room.
âHonestly, Roselynn, itâs your big day. How can you fight with your brother as if
youâre some tomboyish little girl? Go in and get ready now. The guests are
about to arrive!â
Alessandra delivered her lecture in a gentle voice.
âMom, itâs only 7.00AM. Who would be here this early?â
Roselynn pouted as she protested. To her surprise, someone actually
appeared soon after she said that.
It was her boss and best friend, Claudette.
âMs. Lenoir? Youâre here! Come, sit!â
Alessandra was both awed and terrified.
Even Roselynn was surprised.
While Roselynn was close to Claudette, she was still her boss and a member
of high society.
It was such an honor for Claudette to be the first guest to arrive at her
wedding.
E
âNo need to be so polite. Iâm here to help Roselynn with her makeup.â
As Claudette sweetly spoke to Alessandra, she kept sneaking glances at
Emmanuel. However, she soon kept her eyes off of him.
None of the other women knew she liked him, not even Roselynn.
After all, in Roselynnâs mind, Claudette was a publicly acknowledged idol of
Yeringham while Emmanuel was the densest man alive who failed 18
matchmaking attempts. He was undeserving of even wishing to get together
with Claudette, so why would Claudette like him?
There was an awkward look on Emmanuelâs face. He could not resist recalling
Claudetteâs face that evening when she confessed her love for him.
Was she telling the truth?
There was no way she liked him, right?
Thankfully, Claudette soon followed Roselynn into her room to get ready.
Emmanuel did not interact with Claudette at all, except for a brief exchange
of glances.
âOh, thatâs right. Manny, is Mackenzie coming today?â
Alessandraâs voice quivered with anxiety.
From, inside the brideâs room, Claudette perked up her ears. Oh, how she
envied Mackenzie. Why did she not think of getting married to Emmanuel
first? Was she always going to lose out to Mackenzie?
âShe said she would come. Iâm sorry, though. She said she doesnât have time
to help Roselynn with her makeup.â
He made sure to pass on the message Mackenzie told him to.
âOh, thatâs fine. Your sisterâs friend will be helping with the makeup anyway!â
Alessandra grinned. It had been so long since she last saw Mackenzie.
Unbeknownst to her, Terence Quillen was currently all dressed up and waiting
at the Quillen residence. He would be attending the Lowe familyâs wedding
later that day.
Of course, according to tradition, he would also be bringing Felicity,
Mackenzieâs mother, with him.
Felicity did not want to go. To her, it was a waste of time, and she would have
to play along with being poor with Terence. It would be so uncomfortable.
Hence, she had not gotten ready for the wedding yet.
On the other hand, Beatrix was clamoring to go. âGrandpa! I want to see
Manuelâs sisterâs wedding. Itâll be fun! Bring me with you!â
âNo way! You didnât pretend to be poor before, so if you go, theyâll know who
we are!â Terence replied with a laugh. As someone who was forever young at
heart, he was happy to prank his inâlaws by pretending to be poor.
However, when he got into the rather old car and called for Felicity, Beatrix let
out a huff.
âDo you think I canât go just because you wonât bring me with you? Not only
will I be attending todayâs wedding, but I will also be going to tomorrowâs
wedding as well. I might not be Mackenzieâs sister, but I am Emmanuelâs
boss!â
âIf you wonât acknowledge me as your granddaughter, Iâll be your
grandson-inâlawâs boss. Either way, youâll be seeing me there, and you have
to be very respectful to me,â she continued with a giggle.
Her mumblings made Alfred sigh. This entire family certainly loved to have
fun.
