Chapter 231
Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 231
Did she like Emmanuel?
Even she didnât know the answer to that.
She had set a trial period of six months, anyway. It was still too early to tell.
Claudette smiled. âYou have to be careful, then, Ms. Quillen. Good men sell
like hotcakes. What if he found a more suitable woman while youâre still
hesitating and observing him? You might regret it.â
The other women were confused, as they didnât understand what the two
were talking about.
Lexi, however, was amazed at their lethal exchange of words.
Her impressions of Mackenzie and Claudette were completely upturned
today.
In the past, one of those women was as cold as ice, and men dared not
approach her.
On the other hand, the other woman was gentle and reserved, and she never
had any scandals with men.
Yet, now they were waging a hidden war in public for the sake of one man!
âI couldnât care less about men who would get seduced by other women at
the drop of a hat!â Mackenzie responded to Claudetteâs words coldly.
âHah, you have a point.â
Claudette smiled, narrowing her eyes. Her eyelashes were curved like the
crescent moon.
Mackenzie used to admire this woman, but now, she sensed danger coming
from Claudette.
âHelp yourself, then, Ms. Quillen. I have something to attend to, so Iâll be
leaving now.â
â
After leaving a polite notice, Claudette left the teahouse.
Mackenzie looked at Claudetteâs receding figure. She ignored the others as
she waited for Claudette to leave before coldly making her way out as well.
The others were stunned.
What did she come here for, anyway? She left after just a few words!
Only Lexi knew what was going on, so she hastily went after Mackenzie.
âMs. Quillen, may I suggest something?â
âGo ahead.â
âWith just one sentence, you can have your husband stay obediently at home
instead of fooling around with Ms. Lenoir. Why would you give your enemy
chances?â
âWhat enemy?â
Mackenzie feigned ignorance as she stared coldly at Lexi.
Fortunately, Lexi was immune to cold looks. She smiled as she continued
teasing, âIs she not your enemy? I heard from Ms. Beatrix that they might
have played late into the night.â
âWho cares if they do it all night long?â Mackenzie said, snorting.
Lexi quickly stuck out her tongue.

She wasnât scared of other people because she knew that Mackenzieâs man
was a gynecologist who was also uninterested in other women. When
Mackenzie asked Lexi to test him, he was able to endure the temptation, so
any normal woman wouldnât be able to seduce a man like him.
However, she felt that Claudette was more charming and patient than her,
so she feared that Emmanuel might commit a mistake.
Mackenzie finally found a man who made her feel special, so if their
relationship ended because of a mistake, Lexi would feel sorry for them.
It was 9.00AM, so there would be another four and a half hours before they
gathered for laser tag.
Claudette rushed home from the teahouse to change her clothes.
Today was one of the rare days she could go out with Emmanuel, so she had
to choose her outfit carefully.
She frowned as she threw open the doors of the large wardrobes in her room.
There were all sorts of clothes in the wardrobes, and she had so many
clothes that she could hold a mini fashion show.
Claudette was even more spoiled for choice now. She couldnât decide on an
outfit even after pondering for half an hour.
Finally, her movements attracted the attention of her stepmother, Laura
Newman.
Laura had just woken up, so there was a lazy look similar to a catâs in her
sleepy eyes. She was wearing a revealing set of pajamas, and her
snowâwhite skin was extremely alluring. She looked like an 18âyearâold girl;
no one could guess her real age.
âWhat are you cooking up this time, Claudette? You keep trying on clothes
and sighing.â
She wanted to be mad but hadnât completely woken up yet. She couldnât
expend much energy into talking, so she sounded like a sexy little stray cat.
She lay on Claudetteâs bed, not caring that her thighs were completely
exposed.
