Chapter 1500: Don’t let her get away
Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress
[Skyline Plaza: Finnâs]
Nina slowed down, standing in front of the television with furrowed brows.
"What is going on?" she whispered to herself, confused by what was happening. "Cassandra... is trafficking kids?"
Confusion swirled in her eyes, and her brows knitted. Although Nina had developed a different opinion about Cassandra after finding out that she was the one who sent that dead bird, this was just too shocking.
"Is she really capable of doing that?"

In the CEOâs department, Hayley leaned closer to Patricia and showed her phone.
"Hey, take a look at this," she said. "Isnât this the woman Miss Penny almost beat with an IV drip pole?"
"Huh?" Confused, Patricia moved closer and checked the clip Hayley was watching.
The second Patricia saw Cassandra being escorted into the police station in handcuffs, her brows knitted.
"Why is she being arrested?"
"Human trafficking." Hayley cast her a look. "My god, Patricia. Was she planning to traffic you when she got you arrested?"
"What?!" Patricia gasped. "Iâll traffic her first before she could do that. But seriously, what did she do this time? Donât tell me she was caught abusing her familyâs power?"
Patricia clicked her tongue and looked at the phone, watching the news and listening carefully. She didnât quickly believe Hayley just because it sounded ridiculous. Why would Cassandra traffic humans? But, alas, what the news reporter said was exactly what Hayley had said.
Cassandra was arrested for human trafficking involving children under the guise of an orphanage.
Hayley, on the other hand, studied Patriciaâs expression. "Say, what do you think?"
"Huh?"
"Do you think sheâs guilty?" she asked curiously. "I mean, clearly, you and Miss Penny knew this woman. So, Iâm pretty sure you have your own opinion."
Patricia thought about it and snorted. "I donât know, and I donât care. Whatever that woman is in right now, itâs her karma. God, I hate her. And just thinking about what she did to my brother and me makes my blood boil. May she rot in jail â that bitch."
"..." Hayley blinked and blinked, watching as Patricia returned to her work while cursing Cassandra. Clearly, Patricia hated the woman, and although Patricia didnât detail what Cassandra had done to her, Hayley believed it was probably big enough for her to hate her.
"What are you two doing?" Just then, Teddyâs voice reached their ears. He and Shawn had just returned to the office, looking at Patricia and Hayley curiously.
Hayley shrugged and raised her brows briefly. "You guys know the woman from our final interview? The one who got Patricia and Shawn arrested?"
"Uh..." Teddy and Shawn furrowed their brows as they looked at each other before setting their eyes back on Hayley. "What about her?"
"Check the news. Sheâs everywhere." Hayley shrugged as she tossed her phone aside, returning to finish her task at hand.
Shawn and Teddy shrugged at each other and went back to their seats. However, their curiosity kept tugging at them, so they ended up checking the news. They didnât have to search, because the moment they did, the news was everywhere.
Be it on a trusted news platform or social media threads. And sure enough, this news took them by surprise.
---
If there was anyone who was more shocked by this news aside from the Smiths, it would be Kiara. She had just finished an online meeting with a client, but before the call ended, her client said something strange. Hence, Kiara felt compelled to check what kind of news it was.
What she saw was something she never would have imagined in her wildest dreams.
"No," she whispered, staring at her computer monitor with wide eyes. "Thatâs not... right. Why would they arrest Cassandra for something she didnât do?"
Kiara sat frozen for a full minute, just staring at the live broadcast that was discussing this case. After a minute, she jumped from her seat and turned to leave. She only picked up her keys before running out of her office.
But just as she stepped out, one of her staff was coming toward her.
"Miss, CEO Bennetâ"
"Tell him I donât care," Kiara breathed out without stopping in her hurried tracks. "Itâs none of my business."
The staff furrowed her brows, her gaze following Kiaraâs figure. "What... happened?" she wondered, tilting her head to the side. "Iâve never seen her so pale."
---
On Kiaraâs way out, she saw Stephen Bennet idling at the entrance of the warehouse.
"Oh, Miss Kiara... huh?" Stephen paused as he caught sight of Kiara jumping onto her scooter. Kiara quickly put on her helmet, not even securing it properly before she drove away. Stephen was rendered speechless, his face souring as he watched the young woman leave.
"That young lady..." he grumbled. "Young people these days surely have no respect for their elders. What do you not like about my offer?!"
At the same time, Kiara drove as fast as her scooter could take her to the station where Cassandra was. She didnât want to believe the news. There was no way Cassandra would be involved in such a cruel act.
"She is supposed to leave the country," Kiara muttered through her gritted teeth. "Why...? Whatâs going on?"
A myriad of questions ran through her head, but she knew this would only be answered once she saw Cassandra.
---
[In the Police Station]
Cassandra was seated in the interview room, her hands still cuffed. She gazed at the empty table with a sharp look on her face. Showing weakness and fear wouldnât help, and she knew that. She had to remain composed and not freak out.
But unlike what her appearance showed, she, too, was unsure what was going on.
Why had they arrested her?
And what were they talking about? Orphanage? Human trafficking? What kind of nonsense was that?
Cassandra might not be the kindest, but she would never do those things. Especially not when children were involved.
As Cassandra was lost in her thoughts, the detectives on the other side of the room, observing her, looked at each other.
"What should we do?" asked one of the detectives, shifting his eyes to his captain. "Sheâs already shut us out."
The captain rested his hands on his hips, his expression stern. "She already lawyered up the moment she sat down. Wait until her lawyers get in here, then do the questioning."
"But Captainâ"
"This is a huge case," the captain interjected. "But what makes it more complicated is that sheâs a politicianâs granddaughter. Her family is powerful, and weâre not letting anything slip and give them a defense that could derail our proceedings. Our job is to make sure she gets punished for what she did. Do you hear me?"
"Yes, Captain."
The captain then turned to the Defense Attorney and nodded. The DA then faced the detectives.
"Her support is a huge name. Donât let her get away."
