Chapter 249
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
Wesley withdrew his hand awkwardly. Seeing Rosalie nearby, he gave her a resigned smile and
stepped away from Sydney.
Rosalie approached them. âHello, Mr. Spencer, Mrs. Spencer.â
Sydney frowned, setting down her teacup. âWhy are you calling us that? Itâs only been a few days,
and you donât recognize us anymore?â
Rosalie forced herself to smile. âTheo and I are divorced now, soâ¦â
At the mention of their divorce, Wesley and Sydney exchanged glances. They didnât seem
particularly surprised, as if they already knew.
âI heard about it from Mom,â Sydney said calmly. âBut even after the divorce, you still call her
âGrandma. Why donât you call us Mom and Dad anymore? Are you playing favorites?â
âHuh? Iâ¦â Rosalie was taken aback. Sydney seemed upset, and Rosalie hurried to explain, âI didnât
mean to, I justâ¦â
She had never heard this perspective before. Usually, people talked about parents or inâlaws
playing favorites, not the daughterâinâlaw.
âThatâs enough, Sydney. Donât scare her,â Wesley said. Seeing
Rosalieâs flustered expression, he explained, âSheâs not scolding you, sheâs just-â
âBut I am scolding her,â Sydney retorted, looking displeased. âSince when do you get to twist my
words? Did you get my permission to do so?â
Wesley froze, a flash of embarrassment crossing his eyes. Sydney showed him no mercy.
Despite the blow to his male pride, he silently endured it. He accepted this bitter reality, feeling it
was his due.
Rosalie stood there awkwardly. Wesley, after all, was Theodoreâs
father, the chairman of SK Enterprise, and a man of high status. Yet, in front of his wife, he
appeared so humble.
It was a realâlife example of âhurting your wife for a moment of pleasure, but the chase becomes a
lifelong struggle.â Wesley had been trying to win Sydney back for years without success.
To ease the awkward tension, Rosalie smiled and said, âIâm sorry, it was my fault. You both will
always be my family. Even though Theo. and I are divorced, youâll still be like parents to me.â
Sydneyâs expression softened a bit. âThatâs more like it. But you and Theo just went and got
divorced without a word. Couldnât you at least have given us a headsâup? Instead, you decided to
handle it all on your own?â
Rosalie smiled awkwardly, âGrandma gave us the resident register. She knew we were going to get
divorced, and even urged us to do it.â
âSo I guess I was overthinking it?â Sydney frowned, still displeased. Even if she gave you the
registry, donât you think you should have informed your parents about such a major decision? We
only found out because Mom told us today.â
Rosalie lowered her head, unsure of how to respond.
Sydney continued, her tone still stern, âAnd you should know, even though Mom handed over the
registry, she was really upset about the divorce. Otherwise, she wouldnât have hit Theo. We came
to check on him because we heard he was hurt. We didnât expect to find you here. We thought
youâd be living separately after the divorce.â
