Chapter 1120
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Corinne was at a loss for what to do with Joey. On one hand, she did not want to traumatize him further
with abandonment issues, but on the other, she did not want to saddle herself with him.
In the end, she decided it was more important to get him to sleep. Thus, she said, âThere, there. Iâm not
going anywhere. Go to sleep, and we can have breakfast together tomorrow morning.â
âOâ¦kayâ¦â said Joey before closing his eyes and falling asleep.
The next morning, Corinne brought Joey down for breakfast after they had both washed up.
Even though both Pamela and Greg were very fond of Joey, the little boy still felt scared in the new
environment. Thus, he clung to Corinne like his life depended on it.
After breakfast, Corinne needed to discuss something with Xante and Aaron at the company, so she
gave Joey some pep talk before handing him over to Francine to look after.
However, the moment she stepped out of the house, she saw Tommy and a line of bodyguards
blocking her way.
âGood morning, Maâam,â Tommy greeted her respectfully.
âWhy are you here? Donât you need to be at work?â she asked with a confused frown.
âI am working now. Mister Jeremy has arranged for us to be here.â
Corinne raised her eyebrow unhappily. âWhy did he do that? Where is he now?â
âMister Jeremy caught a flight back to Molomia last night. Before he left, he instructed us to stand
guard at this mansion to protect you round the clock.â
âHe flew back to Molomia last night? My, my. He sure is in a rush to go back to his legal wife,â thought
Corinne.
She chuckled coldly and said to Tommy, âI appreciate his gesture, but I donât need you to protect me.
Consider yourself and the others dismissed. Youâre free to do whatever you want.â
After that, she tried to walk past them, but the bodyguards would not allow her to do so.
âWhat is the meaning of this?!â she asked with a darkened face.
âMister Jeremy has said youâre not allowed to leave this house until the baby is born,â explained
Tommy.
Corinne frowned unhappily. âMove aside! Iâm a grown woman. I can go anywhere I want!â
The bodyguards remained unmoved.
âMaâam, Mister Jeremy thinks itâs best for you to stay at home to ensure nothing bad happens to the
baby. He also said you can go out all you want until youâve given birth,â said Tommy respectfully, trying
to persuade her.Books Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
Realization suddenly dawned on Corinne. âHeâs trying to keep me under house arrest, isnât he?â she
asked contemptuously.
Tommy shook his head. âNo. Mister Jeremy is doing this for your own good. Heâs not stopping you from
meeting anyone since youâre allowed to invite friends and family to this house.â
Corinne scoffed. âAnd what if I insist on going out?â
Tommy bowed apologetically. âWith all due respect, Maâam, you wonât be able to do that.â
âIs that so?â challenged Corinne. She hated nothing more in this world than to be threatened.
At that moment, Pamela walked over and smiled kindly at Corinne.
âCorinne, Iâm sure Jeremy is only doing this for your own good, so why donât you just stay at home for
the babyâs sake? Iâll cook whatever you want to eat, and you can even invite your friends over. Iâll ask
the kitchen to prepare a sumptuous feast for them.â
Corinne looked sideways at Pamela, who she always respected, with eyes filled with cold
disappointment. She thought the old woman was on her side, but she realized she had been on
Jeremyâs side all along.
âSeems like the Holdens have made up their minds to keep me under house arrest!â thought Corinne.
She said nothing to Pamela. Instead, she went back to her own room to survey the situation from the
balcony.
Not only were there bodyguards at the main entrance of the mansion, but there were also some
stationed every 90 meters outside the gate. She could not escape even if she had wings!
