Chapter 441
Tasting All My Mates
441-I Can Be Your Hero, Baby!
âAre you ignoring me because of her?â He brought his eyebrows down to look like a sad puppy when mentioning Kellice.
âDid you not hear Valerie earlier? I am used to my mates having other choices,â I said, and before I could walk away, he came in my way again.
âSo you still remember I am your mate,â he smiled, his eyes scanning me from head to toe.
âI do, but that doesnât matter anymore. You are not him. You took over his body, you were supposed to stay as his wolf-I mean lycan,â I stated, keeping my emotions inside and feeling like sh*te. It is so unfair that I found him again just so that I can lose him again.
It was also weird because I donât know how I would feel if Nia had taken over and left me just as a voice in my own body.
This time, he didnât come in my way, and I was able to steer away from him successfully. Once I reached the angry group of people, I let out a sigh and started dialing Markoâs number to come pick me up.
âWe are leaving, right?â Maynard asked, expecting a response from me. I donât get why they were waiting for me to leave. It is not like we came here together.
âMarko! Can you come pick me up?â I asked, continuing my walk to the road. The others followed me, and soon we were standing with the cars.
âYou donât have to call him,â Lazlo grunted, not talking directly to me.
âI donât need your help, Lazlo. Go drop your girlfriend,â I said, flooding my arms over my chest and staring at the road while waiting for Marko.
âYou will catch a cold,â he argued, keeping his voice low.
âI will be fine,â I said, not even turning to look at him.
âEnya! Please donât create a scene here, and letâs go. I cannot leave you behind with that monster unleashed.â Lazloâs voice contained animosity when talking about Theo.
âSince when did you care about the surrounding monsters?â I had to let out a laugh when looking at him. Christina held Maynardâs hand and dragged him to their car. After passing me a very strange stare, Maynard sped away with her.
âI have been taking care of you for the past two years, Enya. Donât act like I didnât save you from getting dragged by Corbin to his mansion,â he said, raising his voice, showing exhaustion.
âI appreciated it until you let him drag me away. Besides, isnât your chosen mate getting cold, standing here?â I asked as I tilted my head to stare at Valerie, who had been standing silently behind him with tears in her eyes.
He turned to her, and then swiftly turned back to me. âGet in the car, Enya!â he insisted again. He would usually walk away, no matter if I had a ride or not, but today is different. He was refusing to leave.
âMarko is here. I am leaving. Donât delay anymore and drop her off.â I pointed at Markoâs car and asked Lazlo to leave. He stood there for a minute and kept glaring at me while I rolled into the backseat of Markoâs car.
Once we hit the road, I noticed Lazloâs car passing us but staying right beside us.
âWhatâs up with him today?â Marko asked, noticing Lazloâs car sticking with us.
âThiago is back,â I said, shaking my head in disbelief at Lazlo. He was only showing care because of some twisted reason that I have yet to uncover.
âOh, Alpha Thiago! As in Alpha Shepardâs son?â Marko almost lost the balance of his car when talking about Thiago. I frowned and adjusted my posture in the seat, sliding to the edge to have a word with him.
âYou sound surprised,â I asked, and he sneakily stared at me through the rearview mirror.
âThere is a whole story with his father,â he said, keeping his eyes on the road this time.
âOh! I know what you mean by that,â I leaned back after realizing he was talking about the entire case.
âYeah! It is so saddening that you canât be around your son, who is destined to be the alpha king and needs your assistance,â Markoâs claims made me close my eyes to absorb what he just told me.
âI am sorry; I donât get it. I thought you were talking about the sad demise of his parents. What do you mean by he was destined to be the alpha king?â I reached the edge again, this time even more intrigued by what he had to say.
âOh! You donât know? Of course, how would you? Everybody who ever spoke of it was silenced by ever talking about it. There was a rumor going around when Alpha Thiago was born that he would face the future alpha king in a battle. Alpha King Shaun found out about it and killed the seer. He then silenced everyone. I heard it from my mother in the form of fairytales. Everybody secretly wished that happens and Alpha Thiago becomes the new alpha king,â Marko finally finished talking but left me in a much confused state.
âI donât understand.â I buried my face in my hands in bewilderment. Is it why he is back? But if the curse is over, shouldnât Theo be turned into a normal wolf and not a Lycan?
I was so consumed in my thoughts that I didnât notice the car slowing until it finally reached a halt.
âWhat happened?â I asked Marko, noticing Lazloâs car stop by ours.
âAh! This st*pid car had been messing up for the last few days.â Marko groaned, âI will check it quickly and fix it.â He got out of the car, and thatâs when another car approached us from behind.
My heart began to pound loudly. Being human makes us wary of everything. The night was arriving, and being stranded on the road wasnât very pleasant.
The car stopped behind us, and before Lazlo could get out, Theo walked out of his car. Watching him walk over to my car must have triggered Lazlo into rushing out of his vehicle and approaching our car.
âSeems like the car broke down,â Theo said, looking suspicious. âI can drive you home, if you donât mind,â he said, then hunched over and knocked on my side of the window, offering me a ride back home.
