The Alpha King’s Hated Slave Chapter 186
The Alpha King's Hated Slave
King Lucien was seating at the inner room, reading Meliaâs favorite book. He has lost count how many times heâd read that book over the years. Heâd memorized almost all the wordings.
A knock came at the door. Soft. Hesitant.
âGo away.â He flipped the page, his brows knitted in concentration.
Long minutes passed, he forgot about the knock, reading more pages from the storybook.
The knock came again, the same as the first one.
âGo away. I will not say it again.â He g*****d, flipping to a new page.
The sound of door opening forced the Kingâs head up. He closed the book and rose from his chair.
His steps steady, he walked out of the inner bedroom just in time to see the wild auburn hair of Remeta as she peeped into the bedroom. Wide eyes met his and held.
Seeing who it is, he didnât say a word again. He wanted nothing more than to command her away, he wants no one near him. But, Remeta has always been steps away from him.
The girl feared men so much because of what Cone did to her, sheâd kept herself at arms length from the male gender.
âYou shouldnât be here, Remeta.â He turned and walked back to the library.
She followed him, and that was when he saw a much smaller boy who came with her. The boy wouldnât be older than six years old, his clothes showed that heâs a lowborn. He clung beside Remeta, the both of them.
âWhat are you both doing here?â He asked again.
They looked at each other. Stared back at him, and then, Remeta walked forward. âRemeta wants to see the K-King.â Came the mumbled reply.
When the King didnât reply, Remeta took it as progress. At least, he isnât ordering them away again.
She let go of Corna and walked closer to him, she sat at the chair beside him.
He stiffened, but his eyes didnât stray from the book he has in his hands. Corna walked out of the inner bedroom and sat at the chair in his Chambers, leaving Remeta alone with the King.
âRemeta wants to sit by the King. I hope the King will not s-scold her.â She murmured.
King Lucien glanced at the girl beside him. âI will not. But you shouldnât be here, Remeta.â He repeated.
âBut, it is where I want to be.â She responded truthfully.
Silence. Then, he fixed her with unreadable eyes, âWill you speak about Danika?â
Remeta shook her head, âNot if the King does not want me to.â
His tense shoulders relaxed, his eyes back on his book, âI do not want you to.â
âOkay, My King.â
Another silence settled, this time longer. The King read his book, while Remeta picked up another book from the shelf and read beside him. Just staying beside him hurts.
The pain that radiates from him is too much for her small body, it threatens to overwhelm her. But she held still. Time passed.
An hour later, Remeta was unable to bear it anymore. She leaned towards him and grabbed hold of his large hand.
It did not surprise the King that her touch did not repulse him. Since she was a baby, heâd always held her in his arms. This girl that has always been close to his heart. Even in slavery, heâd held her and Declan after difficult times, consoling them that everything will be alright.
âYou are hurting and Remeta does not know how to help you.â She whispered at last, tears filling her eyes.
âI am fine.â He stated, dropping the book back on the shelf with his free hand.
âYour pain is overwhelming Remeta. She can practically feel it, sitting so close to you. Please, give my Queen a chance. She will explain everything to youâ¦â
His eyes frosted over immediately, âShe will explain how she laid with another man, you mean. There is nothing to explain, Remeta.â
âEverything is not as it seams, My King.â
âShe is pregnant.â Those three words held a great amount of pain.
âThe child is yours. The Prince is yours.â Remeta whispered, ever so gently.
The King lowered his head and closed his eyes shut. A long silence descended.
And then, âIt is cruel of Baski to put you up to this.â
âMother did notâ-â
âGo, Remeta. I want to be alone.â
Just then, the sound of door opening interrupted Remeta. The King rose and walked out to his bedroom, Remeta followed him stealthily.
âBut, it is where I want to be.â She responded truthfully.
Baski stood at the door looking uncertain, she held a small bottle on one hand. It did not escape the King that the small boy is still sitting at one corner of the bedroom.
âGo away, Baski. I do not want you here.â He stated, crossing his arms.
âI came for Remeta.â She rushed out.
He turned back to his Library, âThen, take her and go. Take him too. I want to be alone.â
âYou have to give her a chance, My King. Give My Queen a chance, so you will stop hurting! You cannot let her be executed tomorrow!â Remeta cried miserably.
Baski stepped forward, âI-I also wanted to show you this bottle. It contains the pillsââ
âLeave me alone! All of you, GET OUT!â He roared.
The three of them jumped at the loud shout. Baskiâs eyes wide. It is the first time he has ever raised his voice. He never did. And, he looked enraged.
Baski shook her head in defeat and grabbed hold of Remeta, who reached out almost immediately to hold a terrified Cornaâs hand. Six wide eyes stared at him, sad and terrified.
Then, the Kingâs eyes watered.
Baski stood rooted in shock, watching him.
He blinked hard and it was gone. Baski wouldnât have caught it if she wasnât looking. Her heart broke for him all over again.
âGet out.â He repeated hoarsely, this time around, before he turned again towards the library.
In defeat, Baski took the two children and they headed out of the bedroom.
They were at the door when Remeta and Corna stopped walking at the same time.
Why did they stop walking?
âLetâs go.â She urged them. She will find a way to come back again. She will not give up!
They didnât move.
And then, they turned around and faced the King again. There eyes has glazed over, staring at space. The look was very familiar.
The same look Remeta always has when she wants to speak about the visions of the future.
That was when it dawned on Baski that the little boy is also a seer too.
And they are both seeing visions now. Oh, Heavens! Oh, Heavens!
