S3 118. Uncle and Ava Dating?

“Maybe he has made peace with Ava,” Louis said sweetly. His eyes moved to follow Jeremy who was walking casually along the glass window. It was only when the man pushed open the door that they realized he was on the phone.

“Yes, I’ve met the twins…. Okay, I’ll convey your regards to them. You get some rest. Don’t get sick again. And don’t forget to eat…. See you tonight.”

Everyone’s eyes widened at Jeremy’s soft voice. Not only that, his smile was surprising, and the twinkle in his eyes… Jeremy looked clearly in love!

“Is that Ava?” Louis asked as Jeremy hung up the phone. The man smiled faintly.

“Yes, Ava sends her regards to you.” Jeremy pulled out a chair and sat down. Blinking, he studied them one by one. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Have Uncle and Ava made up?” Emily represented everyone’s surprise.

Jeremy smiled mysteriously. “We’re dating now.”

“What?!”

Everyone leaned their heads forward. The twins’ round eyes seemed like they were going to jump out.

“Wasn’t Ava still angry with you? How is it possible that you two are dating? Did you give her lots of chocolate, Uncle?” Louis stretched his arms above his head.

“Or a new, prettier dress?” Emily tilted her head.

Jeremy raised an eyebrow and took a deep breath. Everyone couldn’t wait for the answer.

“No.”

Louis’ eyebrows knitted cutely. His eyes narrowed, his cheeks puffed

out. “Did you kneel before Mrs. Connor like Daddy kneeled before Grandma Susan?”

“Or maybe, Uncle Jeremy climbed out Ava’s bedroom window, like Philip when he tried to get close to Auntie?”

Barbara almost burst out laughing. “Jeremy couldn’t have done that, Emily. Ava could have thrown a glass at him. Only Philip would dare approach a woman that way.”

“Barbara is right,” Jeremy replied. “I did it my own way. But, I’m still grateful to you guys. Your advice is useful.”

Louis scratched his temple. One of his eyes frowned. “Then, what did you do so that Ava wasn’t angry anymore?”

“Secret. But the important point is, I have shown her my seriousness and sincerity.”

“Is that why Ava forgives you and wants to be your girlfriend? She already knows that you loves her sincerely?”

Smiling sweetly, Jeremy nodded. At that moment, Louis’ eyes widened and sparkled. “Does it mean Emily and I will soon have a little cousin?”

While the adults snorted in amusement, Emily pursed her lips. “No, Louis. Uncle Jeremy and Ava have to get married first. Only then they can have children. Philip and Auntie will give us younger cousin first.”

“But Mommy gave birth to us before she married Daddy. So, Uncle Jeremy and Ava could have given us a younger cousin before they got

married.”

Frank, Kara, and Jeremy froze, while Philip and Barbara could no longer suppress their amusement. They burst out laughing. Their stomachs ached to hold it.

“Is that true, Jeremy? You plan to have children before you get married?” Philip teased in between the rest of his laughter.

“I never thought that someone was ahead of us,” Barbara added as she wiped the tears from the top corner of her eyes.

Jeremy didn’t dare answer. He was too busy reviewing memories. He was really excited last night. It was not impossible that in the future, their children would be slightly older than Philip and Barbara’s child.

“Please watch your mouth,” he said after clearing his throat. “There are children here. Don’t talk nonsense.”

The twins glanced at each other. Before their critical thinking could spawn questions, Kara interrupted. “Then what are your next plans? Have you asked for Mrs. Connor’s blessing?”

Hearing that name, the awkwardness on Jeremy’s face faded,

replaced by worry. “That’s the challenge I have to face now. Eva instigated her. She said that Ava’s relationship with me wasn’t right. So, Mrs. Connor thinks Ava ….”

Jeremy glanced at the twins. Two pairs of round eyes blinked

watching him. He had to hang up his sentence.

“Do you guys have any suggestions on how to improve the

relationship between Ava and her mother? Only that way, I can get her sincere approval.”

“I don’t understand.” Emily furrowed her brows, turning to Kara. “Why doesn’t Mrs. Connor love Ava as much as she loves Eva? In fact, Ava is her daughter too, even kinder.”

Kara stroked Emily’s cheek. “I don’t know either, Little Bee. Let’s just pray that Mrs. Connor can be fair to her daughters.”

“What have you planned so far?” Frank put his elbows on the table. His face looked serious over his intertwined hands.

“I plan to show video footage of Ava taking care of her. I’ve also asked people to check the CCTV near the boutique. Coincidentally, the moment Eva pushed Ava this morning was caught on camera.” “Shouldn’t that be enough evidence? Kara lowered an eyebrow.

Jeremy didn’t move. His eyebrows became tighter. “I’m not sure. Ava said her mother might think my video was manipulated. Her mother trusts Eva too much.”

“In my opinion, the old women are difficult to change. Just look at my mother. Even now, she loves me more than my brother.” Barbara glanced at Frank. Her hand waved briefly. “I didn’t mean to bring up the old wound, but that’s the truth. You agree, right?”

Frank nodded. “Yes, but at least, now there has been progress. Mom started to change since she realized that what she did was wrong since she felt that I really genuinely cared about her.”

“Ava is always sincere to Mrs. Connor,” Emily said in a small voice. But Mrs. Connor still doesn’t love her. What other way can we use to wake her up?”

Everyone fell silent. As time went on, Jeremy’s pity for Ava became deeper.

“In my opinion,” Barbara broke the silence, “just let Mrs. Connor be like that. You don’t need to interfere or she’ll get even more annoyed with you. Your job is just to love Ava. Show everyone that Ava also has someone who really loves her even though it’s not her mother.”

Philip nodded. The look in his eyes seemed proud of Barbara. “My

future wife is very wise.”

Barbara elbowed Philip in the stomach. “We’re having a serious discussion, Phil. Don’t tease me,” she whispered.

Jeremy was pensive. Barbara’s words were true. However, without the old woman’s blessing, he could not marry Ava.

Long, he stayed in his head. Many questions disturbed him. What should he do? Should he take decision by himself and skip the

blessing? Should he seek for other way?

Suddenly, Kara’s voice interrupted his thought. “Jeremy?”

Jeremy blinked. He raised an eyebrow at Kara. “Yes?”

“Wow, this is the first time I’ve seen Jeremy daydreaming,” Philip sighed.

Meanwhile, Kara and Frank pointed their fingers in the same direction. “Your phone is ringing.”

Jeremy checked his phone. Apparently, there was a call from a

servant. His brows instantly furrowed. “Hello?”

“Sir,” a young girl was heard whispering, “the new nurse approache Miss Connor again. They are talking now.”

Jeremy’s eyes widened. “Where?”

“At Miss Connor’s bedroom door.”

Jeremy’s breathing suddenly turned heavy. Panic etched across his face. “Okay. Thanks for letting me know.”

“What’s wrong, Uncle?” Louis and Emily were worried too.

However, Jeremy just shook his head. After a few moments, he put his phone to his ear again.
