SCARLETT My heart skipped a beat , my nerves rippled through me as I stared at the man before me .

I could barely recognise him , save his strawberry locks and his features that were a mix of both mine and Elijah’s .

The coldness and darkness that exuded from him made my gut twist , but it was the cold smile on his face that reminded m e of someone long ago .

Someone that I still sometimes had to remind myself was dead .

I glanced at Damon , seeing the flicker of sadness in his eyes as he watched her leave .

” Baby … If the moon goddess paired them , surely she had something in mind .

” I replied softly , getting up and wrapping m y arms around his waist .

” I don’t blame Liam for acting the way he did , but I also don’t like the way he’s treating Damon .
