Chapter 1869 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âHe faked his death? Is that even possible?â Reagan raised an eyebrow.
âI wouldnât have believed it either if I didnât see it myself.â
Julius shook his head and sighed. âAll in all, weâre still lacking compared to Rufus. Thatâs why he managed to fool us.
âNow that my subordinates are all under his control, itâs impossible to turn the tables. Thus, I came to you for help.â
After thinking for a moment, Reagan replied, âGive me some time to think it through. Youâre saying that our mission failed and that Rufus didnât die.
âPlus, all your troops have been captured, leaving you with no way out.â
âYouâre correct. Thatâs about what happened.â Julius nodded.
âHonestly, Iâm a bit curious. If the mission failed and all your men were captured, how did you manage to get away?â Reagan asked.
âTo be honest, I pretended to surrender just to get away,â Julius replied.
âPretended to surrender? What do you mean?â Reaganâs curiosity was piqued.
âI hope you wonât mind if I say this.â
After reorganizing his thoughts, Julius continued, âI pretended to defect to Rufus and the others, lying that I could help them capture you.
âAs they were desperate to apprehend you, they released me to lure you.â
Reagan smiled indifferently. âOh. Is that so? It turns out that your meeting with me was a trap. Did Rufus set this up?â
âThat was the plan at first. However, I knew that aligning with Dragon Guard was the best choice now that West Lucozian monarchy was doomed.
âThus, I took the opportunity to fool them without revealing any crucial information,â Julius promised.
âSo thatâs what happened.â Reagan nodded before continuing, âHowever, Rufus is extremely cunning. Will he really believe you?â
âHe naturally didnât believe me. Thatâs why he poisoned me as a threat. If I didnât do as he said, Iâd probably die within three days.â Julius sighed.
âHe poisoned you? Iâm quite skilled in medicine. Can you let me take a look?â Reagan stretched out his hand and said.
âSure.â Julius didnât hesitate to put his hand on the table. Reagan checked Juliusâ pulse with his finger. After a few seconds, the former nodded. âYour body does seem a bit weird.
âIt seems like youâve been poisoned by parasitic poison. Moreover, the person who poisoned you is very skilled; ordinary people cannot undo this.â
Juliusâ eyelids twitched. âParasitic poison? Sir Judd, do you know how to get rid of it?â
If Reagan knew how to neutralize the poison, Julius had nothing to worry about.
âI could neutralize normal poison without a problem. However, I donât specialize in this kind of parasitic poison.
âEven if I forcefully use my cultivation to treat it, the success rate is only about 30 percent,â Reagan said honestly.
âWhat should I do? Am I dead meat?â Julius was dreadful.
âNo need to worry. Iâll definitely find a way to cure you. Weâre allies, after all.â
Reagan smiled and added, âThe Mystic Arts Order is the most knowledgeable in parasitic poison. I can arrange for someone to contact the Mystic Arts Order.
âWeâll let a skilled person cure you. The price doesnât matter.â
âThatâs great! Thank you!â Julius was ecstatic as he quickly thanked him.
âYouâre too formal. Weâre already acquaintances. Now that weâre also on the same side, how could I possibly stand by without trying to help?â
Reagan gestured to Cinna and ordered, âCinna, send a capable subordinate to the Mystic Arts Order. No matter what price we have to pay, make sure to bring back an expert in antidotes!â
âYes, sir!â Cinna answered before leaving.
âGrand General Rhys, you should stay here and rest. Iâll definitely get rid of your poison within three days,â Reagan promised.
âThank you, Mr. Judd.â Julius smiled.
âReport!â
