Chapter 1554 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Another gunshot shattered the room, and another member of the Camron family fell to the ground. There was a growing pool of blood marking the tragic scene. The meeting hall exploded in shock, cries, and pleas for mercy. It became a chaotic mix of sobs, shouts, and desperate appeals.
âYou heartless monster! Iâll take you down!â
Lanaâs eyes blazed with anger as she seized a knife from the floor and charged forward. Yet, Scottâs bodyguards ruthlessly kicked her back down before she could rise.
âMs. Camron, it seems these ordinary family members donât hold much weight for you compared to Dustin,â remarked Scott, clapping his hands. Soon, two burly bodyguards dragged in a middle-aged man. It was Matteo, Lanaâs father.
âDad!â Lanaâs expression instantly shifted when she was her father; fear etched all over her face. She didnât expect her father to be held hostage. It was a distressing turn of events.
âMs. Camron, Iâll give you credit for bravery, but if it comes down to choosing between your father and Dustin, who gets the nod?â Scott inquired.
âN-No⦠Please, donât-!â Lana vigorously shook her head, tears streaming down her face. Scott signaled, took the gun from his subordinate, and pressed it against Matteoâs temple.
Once more, he stated, âIâll ask one last time. Will you agree or not? Iâm running out of patience and donât have time to waste. Iâll count down from three, and if you donât answer, Iâll pull the trigger.â
âThreeâ¦â
âTwoâ¦â
âOn-â
Before the final number could be spoken, Lana panicked and exclaimed, âAgree! I agree! Please, let my dad go!â
âThatâs more like it.â Scott grinned, tossed the gun to his subordinate, and approached Lana. He lifted her chin, looking at her mockingly.
âMs. Camron, Iâm expecting good news from you tomorrow. Only success is acceptable. There is no room for failure. If Dustin is still breathing, Iâll be back, and it wonât be as pleasant as tonight.â
With that, he walked away, satisfied. He relished the sensation of manipulating others; it was simply delightful.
Lanaâs legs gave way, and she collapsed on the ground, tears flowing like a river. She cared for Dustin but couldnât sacrifice her father for him. Between family and love, she had to make a choice. It was painful and inevitable.
âLana! This is all your fault! Youâve killed two members of the Camron family. If you had decided earlier, none of this would have happened!â Corey yelled in anger.
The shock made it hard for him to remain composed; he needed to release his pent-up emotions.
âYouâre right! This ungrateful woman is willing to sacrifice our Camron family for a little boy toy. Sheâs a disgrace to our family!â Others joined in the accusations. In their eyes, Lana was a traitor.
Lana seemed oblivious to the condemnation and anger from others, sitting on the ground as if she had lost her soul.
As she stared at the drug on the table, her heart was a mess. Scottâs subordinates kept a close watch, ready to act if she showed any sign of resistance.
For now, it seemed she had no choice but to follow orders and become a puppet in his game.
However, poisoning Dustin with her own hands was even more unbearable than her own death. She didnât know what to do; the decision was too difficult.
