Chapter 1541 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Dustin showed no sign of joy after getting a definite answer from the woman. Instead, he looked gloomy. The person in Aylka must have only agreed because she was certain she had ways to get the information he needed.
But somehow, he just had a nagging feeling that there was something odd about the whole thing. The closer he got to the bottom of things, the more uneasy he felt.
He didnât even know what was the source of this unsettling feeling. It felt like intuition, but then again, maybe he was just overthinking things.
âForget it. Iâll work things out as they come.â Dustin shook his head and did away with these troubling thoughts. Just as he was about to return to his room for a rest, his phone rang. It was a call from Lana.
âHello, Ms. Camron. Is anything the matter?â Dustin looked around and noticed that the sun was already setting.
âMs. Camron? Haha! Iâm sorry, you guessed wrong.â Suddenly, a raspy voice could be heard through the phone.
âWhat?â Dustinâs brows furrowed instantly. âWho are you? Why do you have Ms. Camronâs phone?â
âIt doesnât matter who I am. What matters is that your lover is in my hands now!
âIf you donât want anything bad happening to her, you better get your ass over to the deserted cathedral at the north of the city.
âOh, right, you better get moving now! My brothers here canât wait to get their hands on her.
âIf you come any later, Iâm afraid I canât promise that they wonât do anything nasty to her!â the person chuckled sinisterly.
âIâm warning you, you better not try anything with her. If you hurt Ms. Camron, Iâll make sure you pay for what youâve done!â Dustin threatened.
âHaha! Weâll have to see if youâre capable of that then! Anyway, Iâll be waiting for you at the deserted cathedral in the north of the city.
âRemember, come here alone.â the man laughed maniacally, and then the call ended abruptly.
Without the slightest hesitation, Dustin sped there with his car. Clearly, the person on the call was doing this to get back at him. And the only people heâd crossed recently were Eleanor, Elena, Julie, and Scott.
Dustin deduced that Ezra would not try anything funny with them after being traumatized. As for Julie, she just had her hand broken at the Moseys mansion two days ago, so she should still be hospitalized now. It wasnât likely to be her.
In that case, the person behind this could only be one of the few others left. But regardless of who it was, they had already crossed a line. He wasnât going to go easy on them anymore. After 40 minutes, Dustin drove into a slum in the north of the city.
The deserted cathedral was built within the slums. The area was very dodgy and rampant with banditry. It was a place where many illegal activities took place.
Some criminals also tended to hide out in the slums. It would not be an exaggeration to say that it was basically a lawless zone. Arson, murder, and theft were regular occurrences in this part of town.
It was an area where regular people dared not set foot in. For Dustin to drive into the slum without a care in the world, it was obvious that he didnât know how things worked around here.
Many eyes were on him the moment he showed up, viewing him as a potential victim. It was always easy to enter the slum, but the same couldnât be said when they wanted to leave the place.
It wasnât every day that they had an unsuspecting prey chance upon the place. Some underground gangs were already dying to pounce on him.
Dustin paid no attention to the malicious gazes on him. Instead, he drove straight to the entrance of the deserted cathedral.
It was located right in the middle of the slum. While it used to teem with believers, it was now abandoned. The only good thing about it was its strategic location, so some gangs liked gathering there.
As time went on, it started to become a central location within the slum where only prominent figures of the slum could enter and leave as they wished. âHey! What are you doing here?â
