Chapter 529
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
âOh please. What would Carlos think if he heard you?â
Debbie had wanted to get on his case too. Now, hearing Kasieâs remark, she couldnât help but burst
into laughter. She fought the urge and stopped Laughing. She needed to know.
âSo, what do you think of her?â
He thought carefully. This was her best friend Kasie, after all.
âMy parents are happy with her after seeing the photo,â he answered in an official tone.
Debbie chuckled.
âVery polite. But what about turning this lie into reality?â
Emmett paused, shifting his gaze to the girl casually Leaning against the wall.
âIâd like to give it a shot. But she loves Lewisâ¦â
His sentence was interrupted abruptly by Kasieâs angry shout.
âHey, who loves Lewis? You mean me? Bullshit! I was done with him a long time ago. Cut it out!â
Emmett thrust his arms forward, palms out.
âOkay, okay. Mea culpa.â
Getting back on the phone, he said, âDebbie, I have a meeting. Iâll call Kasie later to talk about her visit
to my house, okay?â
âWow! So soon?â Debbie exclaimed. She was taken aback. âSeeing parents?
Are they talking marriage?â
After returning the phone to Kasie, Emmett drew close to her and whispered in a mysterious voice,
âThe contract tonight is important to the company. If I canât seal the deal, half of my bonus goes bye-
bye.
Iâll call you when Iâm done.â
His closeness made Kasie nervous. With a stiff smile on her face, she stuttered, âI-Itâs⦠none of my
business.â
He tried to get her on board by saying, âThere will be a lot of new and fashionable products at the plaza
after the New Year. Iâll buy you two things and you come to my house to have a meal, okay? Just one
meal.
Thatâs it!â
âI get two things and I get fedâ¦â Kasie hesitated. This was tempting because her mother had tightened
her purse strings recently. âFine, just one meal. Iâm not marrying him. Thereâs nothing to worry about.â
With that thought in mind, she nodded, âDeal!â
Emmett smiled happily, showing his white teeth. Before entering the room, he patted her on her
shoulder and promised, âIf I get this contract, IâLL buy you dinner.â
Kasie wondered, âBuy me dinner? Since when did we get so close? Why would he buy me things, invite
me to his home and treat me to a meal?â
