Chapter 110 Was She Planning To Leave Me **Sorenâs POV Striding up to Rosalieâs home, I knocked twice and smiled. When I saw it was Seraphine who opened the door, I was quite disappointed.
I had been expecting Rosalie, but knowing her, she was probably busy preparing dinner as she usually did this time of day.
âAfternoon, Seraphine. Whereâs Rosalie?â | inquired, stepping into the house and peering around for Rosalieâs beautiful face.
âShe is resting in her bedroom,â Seraphine replied as she took the flowers from my hand and put them in a vase.
My eyes swept over to her in confusion. It wasnât like Rosalie to be lying down at this time of the day.
âIs she not feeling well?â I inquired with apprehension.
The last few days, she had not seemed like herself, understandably, but it didnât mean that I shouldnât worry.
Seraphine didnât seem to be too concerned. âShe will get more tired as we are approaching her due date. Itâs emotionally draining, and women tend to get anxious or upset over little things.â
âLike what?â I followed Seraphine towards the kitchen.
I was looking forward to the dinner conversation with Rosalie, so the more I knew about her day, the easier it would be for me to keep her engaged. âYou said she was upset?â
If Rosalie was upset by something, that something would only possibly be Ethan or me.
I frowned. While I did understand it would take me time to have her accept me into her life in the way I wanted, I didnât like that she would be upset because of something I had done, whatever that reason might be.
Seraphineâs eyes looked towards the hallway that led to Rosalieâs room, and then turned back to me. âIt has something to do with money,â she replied casually, âbut I donât know all the details.â
That wasnât quite expected. Seraphine shrugged, âDonât look at me. I was surprised too, but I wouldnât overthink it. You canât reason with hormones.â
Seraphine walked away, and I returned to my room to get changed.
However, I just didnât feel right about the situation. Iâd rather overthink it than miss any details.
I wanted to tell Rosalie she didnât need to worry about money when I had enough for the both of us.
However, I knew she wanted to be independent, and Iâd love to let her live the way she wanted.
As long as she was with me.
She wanted money. she wanted to be independentâ¦
Was she planning to leave me? Otherwise, why would she need more money?
I narrowed my eyes.
Then I saw a note lying on my bedside table.
I unfolded it and pulled out a howling wolf made from paper.
The short note said, âWish you and your wolf a speedy recovery!â
My fingers gently brushed over her writing, and I felt my internal battle of uncertainty calm like a passing storm.
She was here, with me, still treating me like a friend, and trying to make me happy. Plus, she was heavily pregnant, and before long, she would have the baby. A baby that I would father myself.
I felt confident that there was no way that Rosalie would leave me for Ethan.
The desire to see her grew strong. I rushed over to her room and knocked on the door.
However, I regretted it immediately.
If she was resting, I should let her rest.
I heard slow movement behind the door, and as it opened, her sleepy face glanced up at me in surprise.
âSoren?â Her eyes turned back towards the clock on her wall before she looked back at me wide-eyed.
âOh, Iâm so sorry. I slept longer than I thought.â
âDonât worry, pretty. You need your beauty sleep.â I tried to make it lighthearted, and gave her a hug. âI just wanted to check on you.â
She was pretty, and no matter when I looked at her, I would never grow bored of her gorgeousness.
She replied with a small smile, âI should probably get up so that I donât ruin my night sleep.â
Stepping aside, I let Rosalie pass me, my eyes quickly skimming her room, noting the money sitting on her dresser before! closed the door.
âMiss Ro, why donât you let me make dinner tonight?â Lola suggested from the kitchen.
âUm. I canâ¦â
âRo, letâs try Lolaâs new recipe,â I pulled her close to me and suggested. She was a little disoriented.
âOkâ¦I think youâre right.â Rosalie sighed, and turned to Lola, âDo you mind?â
Even though I requested her to let Lola cook, her reply still caught me off guard.
No matter how busy Rosalie was, she always enjoyed making dinner for me.
She wanted no one else to do it in the past.
Either she was just exhausted, or something was definitely wrong with her.
âOf course, I would love to do it, and Seraphine would help too,â Lola replied with a smile as she started going through cabinets.
Rosalie moved towards the living room, taking her place upon the sofa. She looked tired, but she still had a soft smile on her face.
âHalf day for you?â she teased me.
âYes, I decided I needed to focus on getting better.â I waved the paper wolf at her.
She smiled. I watched her soft gaze settle upon me. âHey, Ro, why donât you rest your feet and close your eyes? I have some papers to look over, and you can sleep while the dinner is being cooked.â
(D Biting her bottom lip, she looked away from me, shaking her head, âNo, itâs okay. That would be rude. I would rather hear about your day.â
My heart beat in response to her interest.
âMy day was okay,â i responded. âI took care of a few things, but my thoughts were of you all day long. I couldnât wait to come back and see you.â
Her eyes cast down as she smiled. She didnât comment on my compliments and only said, âIâm glad you took it easy.â
Her voice was soft like usual, and she was smiling, but she just seemed distant to me.
What Seraphine said kept playing over in my mind.
Something had upset her, and I needed to know what was bothering her.
âThe problem is, this little guy just boosted up my energy level!â I waved the paper wolf at her again.
âBy the way, thank you for making it for me.â
She blushed, I loved that she blushed easily. âYouâre welcome. I know itâs sillyâ¦â
âNot silly at all, I love it! Thank you for thinking about me.â I meant it. âNow, I wonder, are you up for a walk outside?â
She tipped her head. âThat would be lovely.â
Entranced by her beauty, I felt a new determination set within me. I would allow nothing to come between us.
If something was upsetting her, I needed to get that taken care of.
The sunset was beautiful. I breathed in the salt air and let it clear my head as I walked alongside Rosalie. We took it slow; her baby bump was getting so big walking was becoming more and more difficult for her each day.
The waves rolled in along the beach, crashing with a soothing repercussion before they rolled out, only to come in again. Their rhythm was a bit mesmerizing, and I focused on it as we walked along, letting it keep me calm.
âIs something bothering you, Rosalie?â I asked directly.
Immediately, I saw her forehead furrow. I didnât think sheâd tell me exactly what it was that was bothering her. She wouldnât want to trouble me with that. âIâm fine,â she said, trying to play it off. âBut thank you for your concern.â
âRosalie, seriously,â I said, pressing the issue, âI can tell something is troubling you. Iâm here to help. If something is bothering you⦠Iâd like to know about it.â
She could tell I really wanted to help, so she finally said, âActually, there is one thing you could help me with.â
âCertainly,â I said, eager to please her. âAnything. Anything at all.â I hoped sheâd tell me the truth.
âWell,â she began, âdo you think it would be possible for me to start going to the market? You know, to set up a booth and start selling my crafts?â
| stared at her for a moment before my mouth fell open and I asked, âUhm, why would you want to do that?â I wasnât expecting that.
âI like making crafts, and Iâd like the opportunity to sell them.â It was clear she was keeping the truth from me.
âYou donât need to sell them, though,â I argued. âYou have everything you need.â
âSoren,â she said seriously, âI want to be independent. I want to make my own money.â
âFine.â I decided to go along with her wishes, âIf thatâs what you want, thatâs what weâll do.â
She was clearly surprised that it was that easy. âThanks,â she said. âI really appreciate it, Soren.â
She reached over and patted my arm, and tingles of electricity pulsed through it. âNo problem,â I said.
âJust one more thing,â she said, and I held her gaze for a moment, expectantly. âCan you make sure there are no guards around?â
I could only stare for a moment. âWhy is that?â
âBecause if there are a lot of scary warriors around, my customers will be scared away,â she explained.
I took a deep breath and slowly let it out. âFine,â I told her. âWhatever youâd like, Ro.â.
I smiled at her, and we headed back to the house because I knew she was getting tired.
As soon as we were back to the house, she went inside to rest for a few minutes, and I called Thomas.
âPut an extra detail on Rosalie,â I told him. âShe wants to go to the market, and thatâs fine, but she doesnât go anywhere without you knowing exactly where she is and whoâs around her, got it?â
âOf course,â Thomas said. âI understand.â
âAnd she doesnât know you guys are there either.â I made sure he understood the importance of being discreet as well.
âYouâre really obsessed with her.â Thomas commented. I could almost see his smirk.
âShut up and do your job.â
I hung up and put my phone away, ready to go inside and spend more time with my angel. I needed to find out what it was that had her so desperate to make money, but if she wasnât ready to tell me, I would have to find out on my own.
