Darien's POV

"My God!!" I literally screamed in my head over and over again thinking about what happened in the bar.

My girl could sing like hell. Wait, yes my girl.

I screamed in my head again and snapped out of my thoughts to hear her best friends giggling about something I was too happy to care about.

My God, I reminisced her voice and wish I could roll my eyes at the pleasure I was feeling. K no doubt had the most nicest, most beautiful voice I have ever heard. I could listen to her all day.

When she started singing, I couldn't take my eyes off her. She sang like someone who knew her way around the stage and she looked so beautiful-sexy yes that's the right word.

I looked down and exhaled to get myself comfortable and normal. I didn't want her to see me like this. I turned to her and cleared my throat to set my mind straight, she had her head on the window looking outside as the radio played.

I thought of something to say and just like the previous years that I'd been stalking her, nothing was coming out of my mouth.

Sighing inwardly, I fixed my attention back on the road. Within some few seconds, she turned with a scowl on her face looking for a better song on the stereo.

"What's with the face?" she turned to me with the scowl still on her face saying nothing.

"Hey what is it? You should be happy, you sang beautifully and here you are looking like someone shoved something in your ass." I almost snickered and winced in pain.

"What was that for?" She gave me another smack at the back of my head and that started to irritate me.

"Okay now you're starting to piss me off, what did I do this time?" I kissed my teeth after getting no response from her.

This was what my uncle tried explaining to me, women are a whole different species.

When I saw her driveway up close , I made a fast speed away to my house which obviously got her attention.

"Please turn back." she spoke softly making me worried and confused at the same time.

She was angry not too long ago and now she was sad. I sped up immediately to my place and entered when the gates opened. I stopped the car infront of the house and turned to her taking her hands in mine.

"Tell me, did I do something wrong?" she shrugged and sighed at the same time.

"Is it the time of the month?" I asked again softly this time trying to get a reaction from her which I did. She chuckled shaking her head, "you looked moody after we dropped Dany and Cheryl off." I looked at her bemused.

"Uh me?" She raised her right brow in response leaving me utterly confused.

"Okay okay I wasn't moody, and what's been moody anyway?" she chuckled again making me smile.

"Is that why you have that look on your face?" She smiled rolling her eyes and got out of the car. I grinned shaking my head, this girl really craves attention.

"K wait up!" She undeniably ignored me and went directly to the kitchen.

"The house is quiet" I shrugged downing the bottle of water I took from the fridge.

"Dad and Rosa are at the office." She nodded and went into the fridge again taking out some meat and spaghetti, "hungry?" I nodded and helped her with it and in less than an hour, we had our spaghetti done and eaten.

"Why haven't I heard you sing like that before?" I asked her as we made our way to my room and she shrugged again running to my bed first.

"I don't know I mean I used to but I just stopped I guess." We stayed on the bed and she yawned covering her mouth with her hand.

"You should do it more often though, you looked like a pro or maybe you should do it full time, you know as a full time something." She snickered and laughed turning to be spooned.

"I wouldn't hear enough from my mom." We chuckled at her words knowing exactly how her mom would take it.

"The day I want to get my legs chopped off by my her is the day I switch to music." We chuckled bursting into laughter this time.

"You do have a nice voice K and I really want to hear it from time to time." She tensed at my words and sighed.

"I'm not forcing you, I just-"

" I know, but this is how it is, I'll sing when I feel like I'm content, as a matter of fact I do sing at church." she muttered yawning again.

"Like in the choir?" she laughed leaving her position to face me.

"No no I mean singing with people at the church when the choir is ministering." I nodded and tried to turn her back to her previous position. Spooning her was far better than her on my chest.

"What are you doing?" she asked trying to wiggle her way out, "just trying to get a better position to spoon you" and she yawns again.

"We forgot to brush our teeth." she slurred yawning for the umpteenth time.

"Can't wait to smell the morning breath." She laughed nodding her head "goodnight D."

~~~~~
I woke up in the same position as before but without K, per the clock on the nightstand, it was two am.
With the lamp as the only source of light, I squinted my eyes looking for her in the room. I moved to the bathroom to check but she was not there, the wind from the balcony hits me making me turn to the balcony.
I walked there to see K lying on the ground attentively looking at the moon.
"Care to tell me why we are laying here?" She shrieked hitting me on the chest.
"God, you scared me. Never do that again." She grumbled making me laugh louder this time as I picked her up to the room.
"God, you are freezing." She straddled me wrapping her legs around my waist immediately I picked her up.
"Can we stay like this, you're so warm." She said as I turned for her to close the balcony doors. "We could but you went out." she sighed when I wrap the duvet around us, "I'm sorry, I couldn't sleep."
"You don't need to apologize for that." I said fixing my head in between her shoulder and her neck.
"Hey that tickles." she giggled making me laugh, I went on to stick my head there and inhale her scent. As always her scent drove me crazy, infiltrating my mind and I almost slip up into telling her how I feel.
I wish I could tell her, but what if she doesn't feel the same and then she rejects me. What will I do?
I groaned at my thoughts thinking about all the horrible things that would happen if I told her.
Campus was always boiling about how she's been ghosting and friendzoning guys she'd had something for and I didn't want to be the next in line.
She raised her hand and moved her fingers in my head making me me almost moan.
I moved up subconsciously to kiss her neck, doing it over and over again thinking of what we could be if I told her about my feelings but then I'm reminded of what Davies said.
Things like this takes time, but what if she sees another person and then she falls for that person. That was my daily concern.
"You okay?" I snapped out of my thoughts sighing on her neck, "yeah I'm good, you should have woken me up when you couldn't sleep." She shrugged at my question and moved my head up to face her, "what's running through that cute head of yours?"
"Uh uh, this head is no way cute, it's big." I became awestruck at her smile when she chuckled at my remark.
"Yours is rather small and cute." I added causing her to shake her head.
"I thought we already talked about this?" She stared at me innocently avoiding my question.
"I mean everything I say about you K. You are beautiful, confident and so smart. And I love your voice too plus your head it cute." Her eyes shifted from mine feeling shy all of a sudden and murmured a thank you with an unusual expression on her face.
"I'm sorry." She whispered with guilt in her eyes, clearly apologising for her tantrums in our ride back home. I shook my head to let her know it wasn't necessary.
"No I am, for treating you badly. I shouldn't have done that."
"It's my fault, you thought I was moody."
"Exactly, I assumed and that is entirely my fault."
She explained again pausing with a sigh, "I'm just scared." She whispered shutting her eyes tightly and I waited patiently for her to open up.
"I'm scared of everything, what if something bad happens? I shouldn't have done that at the bar, I shouldn't have even been there. What was I thinking? You know what? It's not too late, if I continue doing what I-"
"Okay enough." I stopped her and pulled her body closer to mine not wanting to let go.
I couldn't bear the pain and fear in her voice. This was just too much. I rocked her back and forth looking for the right thing to say.
"Don't say that, nothing is going happen." But she shook her head and looked at me,
"You don't know that.I know how this ends, happiness is short lived and I'm used to that. I'm not mad because of what I feel, I'm just scared that I may never know what true happiness is." She said bitterly with her glassy eyes as tears poured down her cheeks.
