Maya walked into her parents house and frowned at how many people where there. She looked around for her father and saw someone.
Ryan was drinking a glass of champagne, talking to her brother. Maya was surprised, yet afraid. She wanted Ryan to have a Thanksgiving, but not where her father could find out about them.
She walked over and gave a fake smile to them before pulling Ryan to the side. Ryan's eyes widened and her mouth dropped.
"Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous Maya. I'm so lucky to be yours." Maya was going to ask her why she was there, but she'd been taken aback by what Ryan had said. She smiled widely.
"Thank you Ryan, you look beautiful too." Ryan had on a blue button down with a tie and khaki's. "I wanted to ask why you were here, but I'm glad you're here. I'm lucky to have you here." Ryan smiled and drank a sip of the champagne. "Alcohol?"
"Mhmm, and it's good." Maya laughed and nodded.
"Don't drink a lot Ry. You have to ride that bike home."
"Uhh, no I don't. Zion picked me up in your dad's car. I know you're afraid of your father finding out, but I promise I won't even say a word throughout dinner. I'm just happy to be somewhere." Maya sighed.
"You don't have to not say anything Ryan. If Dad found out, so be it. He can't do anything bad to me at this point." Ryan smiled. "I'm getting tired of people asking me and I can't say anything about you. I'd like to show you off." Ryan laughed.
"I'm the one who should be showing you off." Ryan said, looking her over. "That lipstick should be smudged by now. And to think I've never seen my girlfriend in a dress. It fits your curves so nicely." Ryan groaned.
"Thank you baby, but it's so uncomfortable." She pulled it down and Ryan laughed.
"I can tell honestly." Maya groaned. "Hell, why'd you wear it?"
"I was actually going to come by your house and have a small dinner with just you and I afterwards. But..." Maya shrugged. "I like that you're here more." Ryan smiled widely.
"That would've been nice." Ryan saw General Rose walking towards them and took a step back, nodding towards him. Maya smiled and her father grinned widely.
"There's my little girl." He said, hugging her.
"Hey Daddy. There's so many people here." He released her and nodded.
"They aren't staying for dinner, I just allowed them to come and have some drinks. Ryan's staying for dinner though, right?" He asked, smiling at Ryan.
"Yes sir." He smiled widely and ruffled up her hair.
"Since you both like girls have you two become friends?" Maya and Ryan laughed, Ryan laughing harder than Maya.
"Somewhat. We talk here and there." That is true... in a way.
"That's great. I love Ryan, Maya. She's a good kid for Zion to concern himself with. I wish she liked guys, she'd keep him in line." Ryan scrunched up her nose.
"General, that's absolutely disgusting. Please never mention it again." They all laughed and he patted her arm.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." Maya was getting antsy, she wanted her dad to know, but she wished to avoid conflict. He liked Ryan a lot, she knew this wasn't the time to tell him it was her, but she could say something.
"Dad, I have a girlfriend." His eyes widened and his smile brightened even more.
"Honey! I'm so excited! When are you going to bring her by?" Maya smiled and shrugged.
"Sooner than you think." She mumbled and Ryan wanted to laugh.
"What?"
"I'll try to soon."
"Is it serious? Because I know sometimes, you don't really have those serious rel-"
"Yes Dad, it's serious. I love her. She... she's going to go with me to Florida to see how it is during my interview." He raised his eyebrows.
"Oh that's amazing sweet heart! Have you told your mother yet? She'll be so excited. As for Sandra, she hasn't been giving you problems has she?" He asked, referring to Maya's biological mother.
"No and sorta. It'll be fine, she'll get over it." Maya saw Ryan going for another glass and shook her head. Ryan's grinned and downed it before putting the glass back on the platter. "Your son's friend is going to be drunk." Her father turned around and looked at Ryan, who was smiling sweetly.
"Ryan, are you drinking?"
"Just a few cups of champagne, not much alcohol in that." She said waving him off. He shrugged.
"She's right." He looked at his watch then looked around. "Time to get this show on the road." He mumbled, then cleared his throat. "It was nice to have you all here for this small gathering. I am now going to have a dinner with my family. Thank you all for coming, have a great night." People began to leave and he smiled. "You two can go ahead and head to the dining room. Everyone else will be there."
Ryan and Maya went to the dining room and they were the only two in there. Maya pulled Ryan to the room next to it, which was almost like a game room. She stood close to Ryan, holding her waist.
"What if your dad walks in?" Ryan asked, still trying to lean in to kiss Maya.
"He has to make sure everyone's gone. Besides, he told us to go into the dining room. Not in here." Ryan nodded and kissed her.
"Your lipstick." Maya smiled and pulled back. Ryan wiped around Maya's lips. "There we go, I fixed it for you babe." Maya laughed and rubbed Ryan's arms.
"Thank you. Are you okay? You know, your brother and everything. I know your parents probably aren't taking it the best, but what about you?" Ryan shrugged.
"I've thought about it a little today, but I'm okay overall. What can I do to bring him back anyway? Nothing. I don't mind thinking about it though. I miss him, that's not bad. Even though my parents act like it is."
"That's good then. Maybe you could talk to them about it one day. Tell them you'd like to have an actual Thanksgiving again." Ryan smiled.
"Yeah maybe I could." Maya kissed her quickly. They walked into the dining room and still, no one was in there. "I'm hungry."
"What a surprise Ryan." They laughed and Ryan shrugged.
"I can't help it babe my stomach just cries out for food all the time. Just like my heart cries out for you." She joked and winked at Maya. Maya shook her head, somewhat embarrassed.
"Shut up." Ryan laughed.
"It's true though." Maya shrugged and leaned in to give Ryan a quick peck on the lips. Yeah, what she said was quite cringy and cheesy, it was cute how she said it.
"Where's the other two- Ryan, why are your lips red and Maya's lips less red than before? What the hell is going on here?" He asked them, angrily.
"Dad, what are you talking about?"
"Don't lie to me, I'm not stupid. I saw the two of you talking earlier, I didn't want to think that was it. Now you're leaning in to kiss her? Maya, what is this?" He asked her, fuming. That vein was poking out of his head.
"I... Ryan and I are together." His eyes snapped towards Ryan.
"Get the fuck out of my house."
"Dad-"
"NOW!" He yelled. Maya tried to go with Ryan, but he stopped her. "Just her. You stay here. You're with a child! You should be in jail!"
"Dad, she's five years younger than me. Mom's four years younger than you. I don't see the problem."
"Don't you dare compare yourself to me! Your mother is grown-"
"Ryan is grown!"
"She's still in high school! You're supposed to trying to get that job at the FBI! What good will it do dating a kid? Let alone her?"
"You just said she was good for Zion, why not for me?" Maya told him, getting mad now. "I am going to date Ryan regardless of if you or anyone else has a problem with it!"
"Then you get out of my house too!"
"I tried to do that already anyway." He stared at her before shaking his head.
"I expected you to be the one to do things right." She turned her head to him.
"And I expected you to be the one to understand me. You're acting just like her now." She told him and walked out. She saw Ryan leaving the kitchen with a two plates and she couldn't help but laugh.
"I'm so sorry Maya." Ryan told her as they got in Maya's truck and left.
"It's okay, really. It needed to come out. I'm glad you went and stole some food."
"I was hungry there was no way I wasn't eating. Plus I got you some too just in case he kicked you out too."
"Liar, you got the plates for yourself." Ryan shrugged.
"You caught me, but it's yours now." Maya laughed and grabbed Ryan's hand.
"Thank you Ryan."
"For the food?"
"No. For not letting me be sad about this."
"Oh, you're welcome babe! I think if you just give him some time, he'll be okay. That vein will pop right back into place in his brain and he'll smile instead." Maya laughed and nodded.
"Yeah, you're right." She smiled. "I love you Ryan."
"Aww, I love you too baby." Ryan said leaning over and kissing her cheek. "I just wish you'd hurry home, I'm hungry." Maya shook her head and rolled her eyes, still smiling. That was Ryan for you.
"I think you love food more than me."
"Probably. But, I do love you more than money, and that's progress." Maya laughed and squeezed her hand.
"Yeah babe, it's great progress. Does that mean you'll buy me a twenty four pack of cokes?"
"One step at a time baby, we just got to the two liters." Maya laughed again. "I'm kidding, I'd buy you whatever you want." She said, kissing her cheek again. "Even if it was something completely stupid."
"Aren't you the sweetest?" Ryan grinned.
"I am, I know. Only for you, my darling." They arrived at the house and went up the stairs. Ryan's phone dinged and the two looked down at it.
Ellie had texted her, asking to talk. Maya didn't like that Ellie still tried to talk to Ryan. She understood that they could be friends, but Ryan told her she was with someone. Even when Ryan was with Ellie, Maya gave her space. Ellie couldn't do the same?
"Not tonight. I'm with my girl." She said, but told her she'd talk to her tomorrow.
They sat in the living room and Ryan unraveled her plate from the foil. She had the forks in the plates too.
"How the hell did you fit so much on here?" Maya asked, amazed.
"Don't insult me Maya. Food is something I don't play with." She began eating, moaning about how good it was.
"Ry, what do you think Ellie will talk to you about?" Maya asked, trying to sound nonchalant. Ryan looked at her with her eyebrows raised.
"Uhh, I don't know babe." Maya nodded and Ryan put her food down, facing her entirely. "It won't happen again. I mean that with everything in me. Nothing she or anyone else says can take me away from you. I love you so much Maya. I don't want anyone else but you." Maya smiled, her heart racing. She loved when Ryan told her sweet words like that, it made her heart do weird things. "Do you believe me?"
"Yes, I believe everything you said Ryan. I love you so much." Maya said, putting her plate down and pushing Ryan back into the couch. She kissed her desperately, Ryan holding her tightly. It made her push her hips into Ryan's as Ryan lifted hers up too. She pulled her leg around Ryan, straddling her, then pulling them closer together.
She pulled back, kissing down Ryan's neck. Ryan's body reacted, goosebumps forming along her skin.
"Man, Maya, I was eating." She moaned out. Maya laughed and pulled back.
"Well, you can finish." Ryan opened her eyes slowly and stared at Maya, then looked at the plate and back to Maya. Maya had begun to get up and Ryan held her down.
"No, the food will be there when we're done." Ryan said, rubbing down Maya's body. "I guess I do love you more than my food." Ryan said, kissing Maya's neck.
"You love my body more, or...?" Ryan pulled back and stared up at her.
"All of you." It was so rare for Ryan to be so seriously deep with her, even if it was telling her she loved her more than food. Usually, she joked around and made sly funny and corny comments. But this wasn't the same. Maya knew she meant it in a way much different than that.
Maya kissed her, picking her up.
"Oo, you're so strong." Ryan told her, wrapping her legs around her.
"Yeah... stronger than you."
"Bet. Let's arm wrestle. After this of course." Maya laughed and shook her head. What was she going to do with his girl?
