Chapter 14: Risk

"Babe?" I whisper at Liam while he sleeps. "Babe?"

He groans opening his eyes then begins to stretch, "What's up?" He asks his voice raw from sleep.

I glance back through the glass at the two sleeping men as they sit on their chairs holding onto their weapons fast asleep.

"They are sleeping," Liam hastily gets from the ground his foot accidentally hitting Jeff's foot making him shot his eyes open.

Liam walks over to me and looks through the glass at the men. "What are you guys looking at?" Jeff asks with his voice grumpy.

"The men are asleep, and I think I can go get the remote from him-"

Both Liam and Jeff snap at the same time. "What?"

"What?!"

They are both looking at me one looking confused and the other looking shocked and angry

"They have the remote on them?" Jeff asks and I nod looking at Liam.

"We talked about this already Julia, I am not letting you risk your life-"

"Liam-

"Unless we are doing it together!" I didn't want us risking lives together. I didn't want when we are, I lose him. It's better if I risk mine than risk his or theirs.

But no matter how much I will protest or argue Liam won't let me go alone, so it's best if I allow him to.

I sigh, "Fine."

"I am sorry, what are we going to do?" Jeff asks looking at us curiously, while I hear Skylar gets up and walks over to us yawning.

"Julia and I are going to get the remote from the guy. Which one has it?" He asks me.

"The one in the blue and black." They both were dressed up as some former that appears in scary movies but they were missing their hats and a piece of straw inside their mouths.

"I want to do something too?" I look over at Jeff waiting on him to tell us. "I will distract them if they wake before you get the remote so when you guys come back inside here they will rush after me and I will try to get the remote but only if you guys don't get it first?"

I nod thinking that is a good idea but is also risky. We have to risk our lives if we want to survive even though we might not make it out alive. "It's best to try heh?" I shrug waiting on Liam's answer.

"I-I, it's up to you just be careful okay?"

"I don't even mind if I die because we already lost so much even Beth," he sighs sadly holding down his head. I try my best not to cry to keep strong for my friends.

"Guys it's best if we do this now," Skylar says and I nod.

"Skylar, we are going to need you to keep the door open until we come inside then you will close it," Liam states, and she nods. "Ready?" He asks and I nod. Jeff types in the code which I memorized the first time he did. The door makes a noise but not loud to wake the guys. Skylar goes over to it and holds it open before Liam, Jeff, and I walk out.

Jeff goes and stands next to the side of the room looking after us as we start our way towards the sleeping killers.

I look over at Liam, and he mouths 'I love you' and I mouth it back before finally reaching the men.

I proceed to go at the side where I know the remote is and Liam grasp my hand making me jump a little in fright. He mouths 'be careful' and I nod then start walking to the guy's side where I can see the remote peeking. He snores and my heart feels like it jumped out of my chest and back in.

I process to stretch for it but not standing as close to him. I quickly carry back my hand as I see the other guy softly hits his face but never open his eyes.

I proceed once again my fingers quivering as it goes towards the man's pocket when Jeff's phone buzz snapping the men back to consciousness as one spots us. He grabs his shotgun while the other grabs his machete.
