Chapter 5 of 5

Then he's still here

Power drill massacre origins399 words~2 min read

Back at camp, kiya is lured out of her cabin by a strange, child-like voice to the archery range, where she is seemingly murdered. Her screams send tommy and Ariel searching for kiya and the others, but to no avail. They try to use the phones and the vehicles to discover none of them are working. The two decide to wait it out for Jim and Ariel falls asleep in the main cabin. Tommy leaves to check the generator in the shed. Ariel wakes up and leaves to find him and when she reaches the generator shed, she discovers Tommy, dead, pinned to the door of the shed with multiple arrows. Screaming, Ariel runs back to the main cabin, barricading herself inside and arming herself. After it gets quiet, kiya's body is hurled through the window at Ariel, and headlights appear outside. Fleeing from the body, Ariel runs outside, thinking the headlights belong to the mountain ranger's Jeep, but the driller killer steps out of the vehicle.

Ariel runs to the boathouse where she finds a gun, but can't find any bullets. The driller killer enters the boathouse and overpowers Ariel before Ariel manages to strike him with the gun and flee once again. She runs back to the main cabin and hides in a closet. After a few moments of quiet, the driller killer appears again and begins chopping through the door. He breaks inside and Ariel manages to hit him with a frying pan, knocking her unconscious. Ariel, believing her to be dead, stumbles down to the lake and falls onto the shore, exhausted. But it isn't long until the crazed driller killer attacks again. After a prolonged struggle, Ariel manages to grab the driller killer's drill and drills him.

Traumatized, Ariel climbs into a canoe and floats out into the middle of the lake. When daylight comes, she sees police officers on the shore of the lake but before she can call to them, the decomposed body of the driller killer comes lunging out of the water, grabbing Ariel and pulling her out of the canoe. Ariel wakes up in a hospital and tries to explain to the police officer that there was a killer in the Brandan sawmill, but the officer claims they didn't find a serial killer. The story ends with Ariel saying "Then he's still there" with a lingering shot of the lake.
