Chapter 30: A talk between monsters

Black and Winter were walking back to Beacons dorm rooms, enjoying each others company.

Winter walked with her hands behind her back, like a soldier would, and black walked casually with his arms hanging by his sides.

"I didn't think I'd enjoy my trip to Beacon but this has been quite entertaining. I might even stay for the whole tournament." Winter told Black.

"I know that I would very much like that. I'm sure your sister would enjoy it to."

They continued down the path until they ended up at the cross ways just in front of Beacon. "I'm afraid this is were we part ways for a while." Winter said.

Black turned to her and said "There is always tomorrow. I'll meet you here before the tournament?" Black asked her.

"I'd like that." She stepped towards him with a smile.

She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. Black smiled as the feeling from when he first met her returned. He still didn't understand it but he enjoyed it.

She walked off with a small good bye and Black just watched her walk out if sight.

"What a lady." He said out loud to him self.

But behind him, in the shadows of a corner a little Grimm floated and waited to strike. It was shaped like a jelly fish only much sharper.

Blacks ear twitch as he heard it make a small clicking noise and he turned just in time to catch a tentacle with razor sharp spikes on the end of it.

"Not many Grimm are smart enough to make an ambush for someone. To bad you picked the wrong person." Black mocked it.

Suddenly he felt a shock go up his spine and it electrocuted his whole body.

He endured it just long enough to turn around and see someone disguised in all Black holding some sort of prodding device that was embedded in his lower back.

He passed out just after that.

-Flash Back-

Mercury was walking down the Colosseum exit when he felt the entire thing shake violently.

"What the hell?" He slipped a little before regaining his balance.

He turned around to see dozens of people swarming the arena.

'What kind of fight are they watching?' Mercury though to himself before following them.

He reached the arena to see Black and Vegeta, now with golden hair and Aura, fighting in mid air over the arena.

Mercury's eyes widen as he watched the two collide with so much power that their punches were causing shockwaves that rippled through the arena.

"Oh...my....Oum.." Mercury whispered before he quickly reached for his scroll and started to video the fight.

Back at Beacon, Cinder and Emerald were in their dorm when Emerald's scroll went off.

"What does he want now?" Emerald asked out loud to no one in particular before she opened her scroll and a live feed from Mercurys phone started to play.

Emeralds mouth dropped in a silent gasp as Black and Vegetas fight grew more and more fearsome.

"C-Cinder, we have a problem."

Cinder looked up from her own device and then opened up the same feed on her scroll.

Her eyes widen as the now super saiyan 3 Black blasted Vegetas energy wave out of the arena.

Cinder remained silent as the fight progressed before she closed her scroll and stood up. She calmly walked to the door and opened it "Stay her Emerald, I'll be back soon."

-Outskirts of Beacon-

Cinder walked just outside of Beacon, where no cameras and no people could see or find her.

She sat down near a tree and simple waited.

Several minutes later a jelly fish like Grimm floated from the forest in front her.

Cinder quickly stood and brushed herself off.

The Grimm halted feet from her before its orb like head started to created an image of a woman with pure white skin, black and red eyes, white hair that was held up by a black crystal like piece, and had red veins sprouting from her eyes that led down past her neck. She wore a black dress limed with red and red crystal earrings that dangled from the black crystal piece in her hair and from her ears. She sat at a table with a large set of windows over looking a bleak and dark area of jagged cliffs and pools of purple sludge.

"My precious Cinder, what is the cause of this meeting?" The woman spoke with a soft voice that held an underlying tone of cockiness but also a tone of wisdom. All of which was terrifying.

"I'm afraid we have encountered....an issue." Cinder told the woman.

The woman's eyes narrowed "What kind of issue?"

Cinder quickly presented her scroll and started to play the fight that Mercury had recorded.

The pale woman sat quietly and watched the fight. No emotion played through her face and no noise conveyed her thoughts.

"Cinder, who are these people? And who is the one garbed in black?" She asked Cinder quietly and calmly.

Cinder put her scroll away before answering "They are people from Beacon. The one in black is named Goku Black. I've heard a few rumors about him but this fight confirmed that the rumors of his strength were greatly under estimating his true power." Cinder explained.

The pale woman sat quietly before turning away from Cinder and calling to someone in the background "Doctor Watts."

A tall lanky man with an element green and grey suit with dark hair and a better than thou look walked into view before bowing to the pale woman "You called mistress Salem?"

Salem turned to Cinder "Cinder requires your keen mechanical mind. Do you have something that could take down a extremely powerful individual? Not kill but render unconscious?"

Cinder look at Salem with curiosity but before she could say anything Salem raised her hand to keep her silent.

Watts looked at Cinder before chuckling "What's wrong little girl? Find someone to tough for you?"

Cinder gave him an opened mouth look of anger but Salem once again raised her hand "Watts, this problem is something that affects us all. So do you have a solution for it?"

"I believe have something that could work quite well in this scenario. You'll have to be close though so I advise caution." Watts walked away and after a few minutes he returned with a short black cylinder staff that had three prongs on one end.

"This is device with electrocute the object it is used on with a variety of electric charges. It is similar to a stun gun or taser if you would only this is aimed directly for your nerves for an instant jolt of electricity that should render anyone unconscious....or dead. I recommend you aim for the base of the spine for a more precise attack." Watts explained before handing the device to the creature transmitting their own feed.

The Grimm with Cinder suddenly glowed with a dark purple before it reached around itself and pulled the electrical prod out and handing it to Cinder.

"When you have him, bring him to me. It would be a waste of power to not try and bring him into our folds." Salem told her.

Cinder remained silent but Bowes before her to show her obedience.

"Now go and bring me my prize."

-The present-

Black woke up chained to a wall in a dark room.

'What the hell? Where am I?' He began to question himself.

He was about to pull the chains that bound him down when a door opened in the front of the room.

The Grimm creature that had distracted him floated in followed by Salem.

Blacks eyes widen as he remembered what had happen.

"Hello, Goku Black." Salem greeted him.

Black remained silent as his eyes went back to normal and he stared down his captor.

"My name is Salem and it is a great pleasure to meet you in person." She told him before walking right to him.

"I know who you are, witch." Black told her coldly.

"I see that my reputation is not nearly as secret as I thought. I wonder how you could know it? Was it that silly little headmaster of yours?" Salem inquired of him.

"I know far more than just who you are Salem." Black gave her no real answer to her questions.

"Is that so?" Salem chuckled to him.

"I wonder...does the name Ozma bring you some insight?" Black told her with a smirk.

The small smile Salem bore vanished before the name.

"There's the face I was hoping for." Black relished getting under her skin, her cockiness drove him up the wall the second he heard her speak.

"I see Ozpin told you our story." Salem told him solemnly.

"You could say that." Black told her.

"I'm sure he told you his version of the story. Care to hear mine?" Salem sat in a chair in the middle of the room.

"You can say anything you want, tell me any story you that you think will sway me into your cause...but it won't work." Black told her leaning forward to emphasize his point.

"It never hurts to try." Salem told him with a smile.

Black frowned 'She knows something I don't.'

He didn't like that.

"I'm sure Ozpin's story and mine are the same for the most part." Salem told him leaning back into her chair.

"He told me that you begged the gods to give him back when he died from some sickness and that they wouldn't because of the delicate balance of life and death. I'm afraid that balance should never be disrupted no matter the cause." Black told her, his thousands of years as a kai and a supreme kai in training still had its perks.

Salem frowned "You wouldn't understand that pain nor the actions one would go through to erase that pain. Not that it matters anyway, that's not the part of the story that Ozpin changed I assure you."

"Then what did he change?" Black asked her.

"Did he tell you we had four daughters? Beautiful little girls who I loved with all of my heart." Salem told him with a new tone in her voice of pride for her children in her voice.

"He told me that when he found out about him trying to leave with your daughters due to your corruption that you killed him and them." Black implied her condition.

Salem stood up and crossed the room and stood right in his face "That liar only tells people what he wants them to hear!"

Black didn't back down or even blink at her actions.

"He made my own children think that I was Evil! Told them that their mother was just another one of those soulless Grimm that wondered around the world! I could have bared the hate but he made them despise me!" Salem screamed at him. "My anger at him was justified but for what happen to my children I have never forgiven myself or Ozpin." She told him through clenched teeth trying to hold back her anger.

Black leaned back against the wall as much as he could before speaking softly and calmly "I am sorry for your pain, but it does not mean you can kill everyone that crosses your path just because you wish to kill Ozpin."

Salem stepped back unfazed by his words "Ozpin will fall, I am giving you the chance to avoid falling with him."

"He won't fall to you and neither will I." Black told her confidently "I've been in your place, I've hurt and killed trillions upon trillions of people just because I though I was on the right side of things. No matter how many people you take down, how many warriors you slay, how many champions you dethrone, there will always be someone there to take you down."

Salem scoffed "You think that a mere human can hurt me? I'm immortal nothing can kill me."

"You think immortality will save you? Don't make me laugh. I've seen plenty of immortals die, you just have to know the right tricks to deal with monsters."

"So I'm a monster?" Salem questioned him with a chuckle.

"It takes a monster to know one Salem and trust me......I have more than enough blood on my hands to be called a monster."

Salem scoffed again but remained silent obviously thinking of what he said.

"And your views of Ozpin are clouded." Black continued trying to set something off.

Salem looked at him with a dark frown "How so? The man betrayed me in favor of a god who destroyed all of humanity. He couldn't have cared for me at the end."

"He does still care.... deep down." Black told her. "He told me that if you had died and not him, your roles would have been reversed and he would be the one talking to me right now."

Salem staid quiet not showing any emotion once so ever.

But then Black had a thought, something to pluck at the back of her mind instead of his own. "You know that Ozpin's death back then was one of a natural cause, but your children were killed by magic."

Salem looked up at him curiously "What are you implying?"

"See where I'm from we have a similar set of beings who can bring people back from the dead. And just like your old gods, they can't bring back those who died of a natural cause like illness or old age. But a magical death isn't natural at all is it?"

Salem's mouth opened a little in a silent gasp.

"Of course even then, is this the world you want you children to live in? Your precious daughters?" Black asked her.

Salem looked at him for a moment before she turned around and started to walk to the door.

"Oh just one more thing-" Black started to say.

Salem turned to look at him with no emotion.

"-What ever you've seen of my power, what ever caused you to abduct me like this....its not even close to what I can really do." Black told her with a dark smile.

Salem turned all the way to look back at him "What do you mean?"

Blacks smile grew and his fist clenched into a tight ball.

His body started to glow with his purple and black aura and his hair spiked up like he was about to transform.

Salem's eyes widen in realization.

Then he let out a shout of power and the chains that held him shattered. His aura flared and a storm of wind expelled from him as he continued his power up.

Salem was pushed back and the Grimm creature that was ever present through their talk went flying into the wall.

The wall behind Black cracked and it spread to the floor and ceiling.

Black let out a deeper shout and the winds doubled in intensity while his aura grew in size.

Salem was forced to the back of the room as she could barely keep herself standing at his show of power.

At this point her entire castle shook and the mountain it stood on began to crack and break in places.

Black stopped powering up but the wind and shaking staid. "How about I leave you to think about what I told you Salem. And don't dream of trying to capture me again." Black warned her before instant transmissioning back at Beacon.

When he vanished the winds and shaking quit abruptly leaving Salem at the back of a cracked and broken room with a million new questions and thoughts to ponder over.

-Beacon-

Black appeared over Beacon with the moon still shining behind him.

He let out a sigh as his aura evaporated.

He floated down to the window where his new dorm room was and peered inside to find only Vegeta inside.

He knocked on the window and Vegeta looked up from his scroll.

Vegeta pushed open the window and Black floated inside.

"Where have you been?" Vegeta questioned him.

Black shut the window and turned to his teammate "You have no idea. I have quite the story for you."
