Chapter 29: A night under the Broken Moon

As the two v two matches started up Vegeta and Black took their obvious complaints to Ozpin.

"I will not allow a ring out to draw the line between our fight!" Black and Vegeta screamed out in unison to the headmaster.

"Great! You see what you've done?! Now I'm agreeing with him!" They screamed at each other before turning and giving each other a look of absolute anger.

Ozpin merely gave a small laugh of worry that the two would finish their battle in his office.

"I'm afraid that rules are rules, but there is always next year?" He offered.

"NEXT YEAR?!" The two saiyans screamed at him while breaking the handles on the chairs they were sitting in.

"WE CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG! THIS IDIOT NEEDS TO BE PUT IN HIS PLACE!" A few moments passed "WHO ARE YOU CALLING AN IDIOT?!"

Black and Vegeta stood up starred each other down.

Ozpin finally broke "Stop!" Ozpin stood up and hammered his cane into the floor.

"Listen you two, the battle had rules and you both broke those rules. You may fight else where at a different time with a official to decide a victor, I'll even do it myself! But not now!"

Black and Vegeta looked at each other before looking back at Ozpin.

"Why did you have to rage at us?" Black asked him.

"We just asked for a rematch." Vegeta replied.

Ozpin looked at the both of them. "You both need to leave."

"Fine. Wonder why Oz is being so rude today?" Black whispered to Vegeta while they piled into the elevator.

"Must be his time of the month."

Black looked at Vegeta with confusion.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

As the doors shut Vegeta slapped his own face.

Ozpin sat down in his chair. "Oh my Oum.....what have I started." He held his head in his hand.

-Beacons garden-

Black walked down a long path way thinking of his earlier fight with Vegeta.

He was still a little angry about the end of his supposed glorious rematch with the prince.

A few birds flew past him and he looked up to see the Colosseum which had a price or two with very visible cracks and several prices missing.

Black looked back and shook his head.

"A fitting end I suppose after all they need that Colosseum." Black let out before continuing his walk.

A flash of light caught his attention.

He turned a corner and saw Winter and Weiss giving the two a hug.

Then Winter started to walk his way.

Black eyes widen before he hid behind a garden wall.

He heard her heels clicking on the ground before she stopped.

'Ooooohhh no....' He thought. He did not want to re answer all the questions he answered all those months ago.

He heard the heels click again before they faded.

"Oh thank god....." Black sighed out.

"Sorry, He's not listening right now." Winter peaked from the corner starring right at Black.

'I commit one tiny universal genocide and this is what I get.'

Black looked up at her.

"You have que-" Black started but was interrupted.

"I have questions, yes." Winter interrupted him."Its time for a wee little chat Black."

-Edge of Beacon, Cliff over looking the Forest-

Black sat with on leg dangled over the steep incline of the cliff he and Winter had walked to.

The sun had gone down and the ever broken moon that hung in the sky lit up to replace the missing light.

Winter sat near him with both of her legs over the cliff side, her focus solely on the overpowered being that sat to her right.

"So.....were alone, away from prying ears. What do you want to know?" Black asked her.

"Well, were would I even start? How about with what are you? I've never seen a semblence in existence that let someone do what you an that other member of your team do." Winter asked. "Weiss won't tell me and the two other members of your team told me to ask you to explain it."

Black sighed realizing that his so called teammates threw him under the metaphorical bus.

"Truthfully, or should I make up something you want to hear?" Black asked her both literally and rhetorically as he never knows how someone will react.

"Lying to me is hardly an explanation." Winter told him a little angry. "Why would I even ask for a lie?"

Black looked at her with a serious face and told her "The truth is sometimes more farfetched than a lie."

Winter looked up at the moon in a huff "In a world where little boys and girls fight soulless monsters how farfetched can you get?"

Black sighed again "Monsters hardly constitute what I am. What my team is."

Winter looked back to Black and squinted her eyes practically screaming 'Try me'.

"Alright, you want the truth?" Black looked at her and she nodded. Black shut his eyes "The truth is that I am an alien from the planet Vegeta." He told her his bodies origins. He may have told Weiss but he had know her for months by the time he had told her what he truly was and what he had done.

Winter growled angrily. "I asked for the truth, not some lie that can't possible anything near the truth."

Black opened his eyes and looked at her with nothing but seriousness glaring from his onyx eyes.

Winters angry look dropped and a look of disbelief replaced it "Your being completely serious aren't you?"

Black nodded. "Its the reason I can turn into all those different forms. The gold hair, the green eyes, the amazing power. Its all because of what I am. A saiyan."

Winter sat silent for a moment to think about it being possibly true.

"So, that's it?" She asked him.

Black sat up a little confused "What do you mean that's it?"

"I mean don't get me wrong, its a strange and very unbelievable thing, but even if it was true, is that it? Everything you are is summed up as being an alien?" Winter said a little disappointed.

Black looked at her in disbelief "Your kidding right? Everyone else I've told has either freaked out or didn't believe me until I did something insane like transform. But you just seem......disappointed."

Winter shrugged before turning to the forest in front of them. "It seems to convenient to be honest."

Black sat back I'm shock.

"And besides the display of strength you two showed at the Colosseum, there's not much to see." Winter continued.

Black looked away to try and process when his time ring glinted and got his attention.

He looked at it and then grinned. "Alright, Schnee I'm going to show you everything you can possible want to know."

Winter looked at him with confusion as he held out his fist with his ring.

"This ring can allow me to travel through time, although I'm only using it to show you a glimpse of the past. You cannot interact with the world you will see but only perceive it."

Winter looked at him and then at his fist.

She slowly touched it with a finger before they were both sucked into a white void. She shut her eyes in fear before she opened them to find an infinite white with images of Black and everyone he's every encountered with the exception of his past transgressions.

Black stood in front of her "Come, let me show you."

He led her through the void, various images flashed before her.

But they finally went through a blaze of red and orange light and appeared overlooking an orange planet.

"Are we in space?" She asked him looming around.

"Yes, several years in the past. This is Planet Vegeta the home of the saiyans." Black explained.

"And why aren't you here? With your people?" Winter asked him, quite convinced with the past she was seeing.

Suddenly a violent scream drew their attention to a man that looked exactly like Black flying past them.

His only difference was the green armor, red head band, and x like scar across his cheek.

Winter and Black turned around to see a mass of people floating in space and that man charging through them.

"What is happening?!" Winter asked confused.

"Watch, and you'll see." Black replied calmly.

The man blasted through person after person screaming "FREIZA!!"

Black and Winter by default floated closer and closer to the battle by the giant space ship that floated in the space before them.

Suddenly, the object of the mans rage floated out of the ship.

The man stopped not to far away from the small horned alien.

"Who are they?" Winter asked.

"The man that looks like me is my father. A man named Bardock. The man in the pod is Freiza, an intergalactic tyrant." Black told her.

The man said some words that were mumbled from the distance they were at but the blue ball of energy in his hand was very visible.

The tyrant raised a finger and the sun like dot over his finger was just barely there.

Then it grew to actual sun sized levels.

Winter let out a yelp as the man let out the blast he had built up only for it to be absorbed.

Black watched in a calm silent manner while Winter nearly fainted as the evil tyrant let out a spine chilling laugh as he threw it at the planet.

The man was consumed by the blast and screamed out in effort to stop the blast but he was ultimately turned to dust.

While Winter gasped and let out breaths of shock, Black felt something in him scream out at his bodies fathers scream. He didn't like it.

As the blast collided with the planet, Black sent them both back to the white void of time.

Winters mouth was wide open in shock "Black...I..."

"Don't. It was a long time ago and the man who did the dead was killed years ago. My kind has its justice." Black told her and started to float back to the present.

Winter followed but something happen.

Maybe the point from the past was such an event that it caused a ripple through time, or maybe something insane happen somewhere else but a shockwave went flying through the time stream.

"What the hell?!" Black stood the shockwave but Winter went flying towards him.

She screamed as they collided and went flying into another moment in Blacks past.

They flew into a darkened city. Ruined and in chaos.

Black stopped over the city and Winter went flying towards another part of the city.

Black flew over the city quickly looking for Winter.

"Winter! We need to leave! Right now!" He called out.

He knew where they were and he's had enough reveling of these moments for a life time.

But he stopped to see her watching Trunks holding Mai with a tornado of dark green smoke floating down to the ground.

She shook in fear and stepped back.

Black shot towards her but the tornado cleared before he got there and she saw the past version of Black looking down on the people he had fired at.

This Black grabbed her shoulder as Black and Trunks started to charge each other.

They went back to the time stream.

Winter backed away from Black.

"What was that?" She asked him quietly but with a fear that screamed a million voices.

Black looked at her and gave the same fear he had with his first flashback.

"I can explain." He let out after a moment of hesitation.

"What the hell did you do?" She asked him.

"I....I...." Black couldn't form the words to even begin to explain the situation.

Last time this was on his terms. Now the situation is spiraling out of his grasp.

Winter stepped back as Black stepped forward.

"Winter, I'm not going to hurt you." He told her but Winter just shook her head slightly and took off in the other direction.

Black shot after her and grabbed her but she shook the both of them into another moment in time.

They both fell through an open area with a log cabin.

She kicked him off and flew around the cabin.

She stopped at the edge of the cabin when a door squeaked open.

Black rushed after her only to stop by her side when he saw himself at the door.

This version of him wore baggy black sweat pants, and a grey T-shirt with no shoes and was leaning against the door frame staring through the both of them at the forest to them.

"What....but.....this isn't apart of my past..." Black said out loud as he turned to see the shattered moon of remnant.

"This is remnant." Winter said quietly.

"Hey." A voice called from the Cabin drawing both of their attentions and his other self.

Inside the cabin both the present Black and Winter mouths opened in shock.

Another Winter walked in wearing the other Blacks top GI.

The other Black just smiled. "Your up early, did I wake you?" He walked over and wrapped his arms around her.

"No of course not. The sun finally got through the window." She told him returning the embrace.

Another voice let out a high grumble.

"Papa....Mama..." The two alternate versions of Black and Winter turned and The present Winter and Blacks mouths gaped.

The present Blacks eyes widen at the words "Did she just say...."

Winters eyes widen to at the voice but her voice was rendered speechless.

"Well little one, did the sun wake you up to?" The other Black asked the little girl in the shadows.

The little girl rubbed her eyes as she stepped into the sunlight.

She was very short, maybe a 4 or 5 year old with long black hair that had a white streak standing out from the jet black of the rest of her hair. She had bright blue eyes and a brown tail slowly swaying behind her.

She yawned before waddling to her father and holding out her hands.

The other Black picked up his daughter with a small laugh and turned to the door with that Winter next to him coming over and laying her head on his shoulder.

The present Blacks ring flashed and the both he and Winter was sent back to the present.

The both were back where they sat at the beginning of their talk.

Blacks eyes remained wide while Winters mouth was gaped open in shock.

"So.....I uh...." Black started.

"Let's just.....just start with the middle one. Tell me everything before we get to the other thing."

Black signed before telling her everything.

Little by little her revealed to her the terrible past he reveled in.

"I have been doing anything I can to redeem myself. I know I'm far from even scraping the surface of the pain I've caused. But maybe I can repay the pain I've caused with something good."

Winter sat and soaked it in.

"So they all know?"

Black nodded.

"Well, I'm quite shocked for that turn of events. But I have to give credit where credit is dew. As a soldier I've done things I regret. So your story....strikes a tone with me."

Black smiled softly.

"Now about the cabin......and what we saw...."

Black frowned "I......if I had to guess.....it was the future...." Black told her.

"So.....that's.....the future..."

"The future of a universe. It can change and another universe would pop up but as of now.....maybe." Black told her.

"Is that bad?" Black asked.

Winter looked at him before looking away.

"I suppose not...."

Black smiled before he chuckled.

Winter looked at him before letting out a chuckle herself.

They both started laughing.

"Your not so bad Black. Much better than yesterday."

Black looked at her "Funny how its only been a day. But your aren't so bad either."

Black put his hand down on the ground next to him as Winter did and their hands landed on each others. But they didn't move.

Black looked at Winter and she looked at him.

"I.....I'm sorry for what you saw." Black finally told her.

"Shh. I've seen enough to know that you aren't who you used to be."

Black smiled and so did Winter.

She leaned in and Blacks instincts just kicked in and he leaned in with her.

They spent the rest of the night just talking under the light of the broken moon.

These two spectacular warriors, forged by battle and hardships, are forever bonded by a lone moment of understanding.

But the future of these two is forever in flux. But maybe that peaceful moment they saw could be a reality.
