Frost's p.o.v

Chapter Thirty-nine: Do you smell it? That smell? A kind of smelly smell... A smelly smell that smells... smelly...

Now the words Smell and smelly look hella weird-

"That's whyyyy, I still get jealous!" I sing.

Manon grumbles, "That's Nova in a song. Literally."

"I'm right here you know," Nova says while looking at her in the rear-view mirror.

"Really? I never knew," she replies sarcastically.

"Shut up," he retorts.

Oh lordt.

She crosses her arms, "You took my spot just so you could be next to Frost. We'll listen here buddy, I am Frost's best friend! I always sit next to her!"

"Well Manon, I'm her boyf-"

"Don't make me turn this car around!" I yelled, cutting off their bickering. Cole chuckles and holds Manon back from snatching Nova's hair.

"You haven't even started the car..." Cole says before laughing.

"I'm not going to school with my best friend and boyfriend, arguing," I say with a grin. "Now, what are we arguing about?"

Manon inhales deeply, "HE TOOK MY SPOT!"

"No, I didn't! I got here first!"

"You tripped me!"

"No, I didn't! You're just clumsy."

"So you call sticking your foot out in front of me, clumsy?!"

"Children!" I yell, "Settle down, or I'll throw you out the windows! We are all practically adults!"

"Yeah Manon," Nova glares at her.

"Yeah Nova," she mimics.

We arrived at Math just before the bell rang. We sat in our normal seats, and Harry joined us.

"Sup," Harry says over Mr. Earl's words.

"Hi," I wiggle my brows at him. "Is mayonnaise an instrument?"

Mr. Earl clears his throat, gaining our attention. "Good morning class, I don't want to waste time today, so I'll get to the point."

I lean over to Manon, "He's probably announcing that he's marrying a pig." she snickers loudly and Nova rolls his eyes.

"That's messed up Matthews,"

"I would like Frost to stand up please." Mr. Earl says and I groan.

"Now you've done it. You and your loud snickering..." I whisper to Manon before bolting up. "Yes, sir? How may I help thy."

He shakes his head, "You have gained the most test score improvements in my class. Congratulations."

Some people clap, and I bow sarcastically. I don't even know these fools. "What was the improvement?" I ask and nervously look at Nova.

Watch it be a one-

"Seventy-two," he says and my mouth falls open.

Oh God! What did I have before?! A zero? Well, don't I feel dumb. I should be rewarded with my mom's famous, homemade turkey sandwich.

And some chips of course. Can't forget those.

"Yay Frost!" Manon claps.

"Woo!" Nova cheers while clapping along with the other students, "That's my girl!"

I awkwardly sit down with red cheeks. "See," Cole smiles at me. "Blondes aren't dumb."

"Do you smell it? That smell? A kind of smelly smell... A smelly smell that smells... smelly." I say in my Mr. Krabs voice.

Kai giggles, "Is that from Spongebob?" he asks in his adorable voice.

"Of course Chip. Why wouldn't it be?" I ask and hug him tightly, "Why, must, you, be, so, freaking, adorable?"

He giggles again and I let go to eat my lunch. Nova continues going on my phone, not touching his hamburger.

I reach out and before he could react, I snatch his hamburger and laugh evilly. "Seriously?" he sighs.

"This is karma for eating my burger that one day!" I exclaim while taking a huge bite out of it.

He frowns, "I don't even... never mind. Just eat it."

I happily munch on the burger and burp. "What are you even doing on my phone?"

"I bought it,"

"But I never asked for it," I say and grab the phone from his hands. I look at what he's doing and burst out laughing.

"Are you screenshotting your Instagram pictures?" I exclaim and wipe my eyes. He takes the phone back with red cheeks.

"No, I'm not," he mumbles and shoves the phone in my sweatshirt pocket.

"You wittle baby," I coo and hold his hand with mine. "It's alright. I still have that picture of you on my old phone."

He snaps his head to me, "You what?"

"I, uh, did you feel the earthquake?" I smile lightly and continue stuffing my face.

"So Frost," Nova snakes his arm around my waist. "You have pictures of me?"

"No. Not at all. I don't think so. Nada. Neigh. No. No." I say and feel him start making circles on my back.

"You sure?"

"Yep!" I exclaim.

"Well, I have pictures of you,"

"You guys need Jesus," Manon says while leaning against Cole, "Badly."

"Sprinkly thy holy water over thee,"

School ended, and now, I'm sitting in my car, waiting for Manon.

"Once again, Frost Matthews is waiting for her best friend Manon. She sits in her car, doodling on her hand." I narrate and continue drawing a carrot in my hand.

"Not this again," I hear Nova's voice and I jump slightly, drawing a line across my poor carrot.

Rest in peace, Carrot.

"Darn you, Nova," I growl as he gets in the passenger seat. "Get out of my car."

"Why are you grumpy?" he asks and rolls down the window.

"'Cause you ruined my carrot," I say and Manon hops in the back with Cole. "Buttface,"

"What did you do now?" Manon asks as I start the car.

"I 'ruined' her cupcake or whatever." he says and smirks at me.

"It was a carrot," I mutter and start driving. "And it was a nice carrot too."

He clicks his tongue, "Let me see your hand." I hold out the hand I drew Carrot on, and he grabs the Sharpie.

He draws a heart, starting at the line he made me draw. "There. Happy now?"

"Very."

"I think you guys are more cuter than us," Cole says and kisses Manon's head.

"That, my dear friend," I grin, "Is an understatement."

He chuckles and Manon smiles. "You're goofy, and he's grumpy." she points to me and Nova. "It's a perfect match. I've been shipping you guys since day one."

Nova shakes his head, looking out the window, but he couldn't hide the fact that he was smiling. I notice his cheeks turning pink. "Awe," I glance at him, "Are you getting embarrassed?"

"No," he says before clearing his throat multiple times, "Why would I be embarrassed?"

"Because you know it's true." Cole says and I park the car.

"Wow, I'm surprised we survived." I say with a grin while getting out.

"I'm surprised you can drive." Nova comments and slings his arm on me.

"Careful buddy," I say and walk up to my porch, "You'll have to pay gas money."

I inhale the scent of something delicious and my mouth starts watering. "Hey Manon, Cole, my ma is probably cooking! Do you want to come eat something!"

"No thanks," they both say and continue walking.

"Guess it's me and you," Nova says as I open the door. I blocked his way so he couldn't get in.

"Uh, sorry to break it to you but... that food is mine."

He sticks out his bottom lip, "Please,"

"Honey? Let the poor boy in! He's probably hungry!" mom yells and I sigh in defeat. I move aside and let him in.

"Everyone is always after my food."

I chuck my bag on the couch, and plop down at the table. August sits in her highchair, eating some weird Cheerio looking things.

She slams her hands on the table and makes a weird noise. "I see she takes after me a lot." I say and chuckle.

Mom walks out of the kitchen with some fresh peach cobbler, and I practically drool. Nova sits next to me and looks at August.

"Have you two met? I don't recall you two meeting," mom says while setting the cobbler down, right in front of me. "Would you like to hold her?"

"Uh..." Nova's eyes flicker to mine as I help myself to the cobbler, "Sure...?"

Mom picks up August and puts her in Nova's arms. "August, this is Nova."

He smiles at her gently and wipe away my invisible tears, "So beautiful."

She stares at him with her big eyes before smiling. "Hi there," he says and makes duck lips. She grabs his hair and tries tugging it, but fails.

"I think Chip's adorable meter went down just a little," I say with a mouthful of cobbler.

Mom smacks me with a towel, "Don't speak with your mouth full! It's rude, and you'll choke."

Nova snickers, "She does it all the time."

"T-That is a lie." I stutter and continue stuffing my face.

After we ate, me and Nova sat in the living room with mom and August.

"Hey ma," I speak as I flick through Netflix. "Guess what."

"What honey?" she asks while flipping another page of her Twilight book.

"I raises my math test scores by seventy-two points." I state proudly with a toothy smile. She looks up from her book and smiles as well.

"That's wonderful honey! I'm proud of you!"

Yes... now give me that sandwich.

"I guess Nova's tutoring paid off, huh!" she beams at Nova and he shyly smiles back.

"Oh no, it was all Frost." he waves her off and stares at me. "She's a smart girl."

I let out a dramatic sob, "You guys," I pretend to blow my nose, "My mascara will run."
