Frost's P.O.V

Chapter Two: You Disgrace
School finally let out, and I swear Rose is trying to kill me. Like, all day she's been glaring at me. When me and Manon were walking to our last class, Rose was so close behind me, I could smell her richness.
"The cool fall air blows the leaves around. Kids walk by, some by themselves, some in groups, and some holding hands. And then, there's Frost. A girl simply drinking her lemon water, sitting in her car with the door wide open, talking out loud,"
"But... what's this? By Ollie the Bear, there's her best friend, with the man of her dreams, walking to his car. Laughing at whatever, forgetting about Frost. Poor, poor Frost. And while she's having fun, Frost waits for her tutor, Nova Hurkins. A fellow classmate. He's quite cute but he's got a personality of a trash ca-"
"Who in the hell are you talking to?"
I scream and jump, nearly tumbling out of my car. "Don't do that!" I yell at Nova who is standing by me with an amused and confused expression. "You can't just sneak up on somebody like that!" I yell, hoping he'll see the shookness on my face.
Who even made the word 'shook'?
I was never one to like being scared. My cousin put on a creepy clown mask, hid in the closet and when I walked by, she jumped out and scared the living crap out of me. She nearly gave me a heart attack.
Let me just say, I was only five.
The only time I'll accept being scared is Halloween. Like, if I'm getting scared for the candy, might as well.
He smirks, "It's quite peaceful, not hearing you talk. Your appearance is way better when your mouth isn't moving. You should do this more often."
"Rude. Get in my car before I run you over." I struggle to contain my laughs. I, Frost Matthews, just got roasted by Nova Hurkins.
How surprising.
I should be the one roasting, not him.
"Are you ready to have some fun?" I ask him, starting my car. As he buckle his belt, he snorts.
"Trust me. You and fun do not get along."
What felt like forever, we finally got to my house. Nova trudges behind me as if I'm leading him to his death.
Which I am.
I abruptly stop walking, causing Nova to crash into my back. I slowly turn around, "I must warn you, my mom is a little... dirty minded... and pregnant."
My mom. Denisse Clair Matthews, is probably the most dirty minded person I have ever met. Especially when it comes to boys.
He blinks repeatedly, "Your mom is pregnant?" I nod and continue walking to my door.
I poke my head inside my door, "Oh mother! I'm home! With a guest!" I yell and yank Nova in.
I pray, to whoever is up there, please have mercy on my poor innocent soul. And please, give me some money to buy chips.
"Hello..." she trials off, eyeing Nova suspiciously. I give her a 'you better stOp' look and she innocently smiles.
"Mom, this is Nova. Our neighbor who never comes outside." I introduce him to my mom. He gives her a charming smile and she raises a brow.
"Hello Mrs. Matthews. It's a pleasure to meet you,"
"Such a nice young man," Mom holds out her hand, and he gently takes it and shakes it. "Oh! And a nice shake too!" Nova looks at me for help.
"Okay mom, you're being a little weird," I pull him away, "We're going to go work on school stuff in the-"
"Be safe honey! Don't want any accidents. There's some you know what, in my you know where, in my room." she winks at me, causing me to cringe and internally throw up.
Oh dear god.
"I'll be in the kitchen, cooking a meal for you two after your 'session'."
"Mom," I sternly say, "We're going to study school work in the living room." I say but more slowly, leading Nova into my small but large living room.
The living room isn't all that fancy. We have a flat screen t.v, some L shaped couches, some side tables and plants, decor, and rugs with weird designs on them.
Blame my mom.
And then there's my green bean bag. Probably the most comfortable chair in history.
"Sorry about that! Anyways, what's next on our annoying list?" I ask as I throw myself on my bean bag. I hear a deep sigh and I grin.
"Can you not be annoying for one second? Just one!" Nova exclaims, sitting down with his backpack.
"Well where would be the fun in that?" I say, I try taking my rubber band out of my hair, but I can't. I then try again, but fail miserably. And that's when it clicks in my brain.
My hair, is tangled, in a freaking rubber band.
I start to panic. My poor hair! It's taken me years to grow this monster!
"It took me so long to grow this out!" I whine. I try to pull it again, and once again, fail miserably. I fall backwords on the bean bag with a loud thump.
"What's your problem?"
"My hair... is stuck."
"I swear I am tutoring an idiot... literally." Nova grumbles out. I role off the bag getting up.
"Don't just sit there and watch me! Help me!" I screech. He smirks, and stands up, crossing his arms. How can any of this be funny!? My hair is on the line right now.
It's... it's grown so well... I'm not ready for it to leave..
"Well where would the fun be in that?" he says using my own words against me.
Clever.
"You're... you're right. I... I never thought I'd see the light so soon. Oh, how bright it is... oh the light! I see it! I want to go towards it! It's brighter than my future... but... I don't have a future any more." I drop to the ground dramatically.
"Please take care of Manon... and... and my mom."
"If she ever needs anything.. anything at all... I want you to-"
"Oh my god Matthews, it's just a damn hair tie. I can get it out for you." Nova cuts off my beautiful, and heart touching speech.
I stand up in front of him, pouting. "Are you sure?"
He spins me around so my back is facing him, "I'm sure. And this is going to hurt." then, all of a sudden, I feel a sharp pain shoot through my head.
"Ow... my poor head!" I complain as he tugs on my hair some more. I can feel his body heat radiating off. Talk about personal space.
But girls would kill to be in my spot. To be this close to Nova Hurkins.
"Hold on, I think I have a pair of scissors in my bag." he states before walking towards his bag. WHAT!? No he is not going to cut my hair off.
I watch him pull out a pair of red scissors, "Uh... yeah that's a no."
"Nova, I said no! Capital N, O! Nuhuh shmeny penny."
"Look, do you want your long 'luscious' hair, or a big knot for the rest of your life? Cause we can make the knot happen." he threatens which silences my whining.
Knot today. Heh... okay... I'll stop.
"Alright fine! But only this one time Nova... You win. You winded. Wonded? No. Winded." he smiles and walk towards me, and to make things worse, he starts opening and closing the sissors.
"Winded isn't a word stupid," he says as he walks closer.
I gasp and back away. "Get away you demon! This isn't funny! Don't make me spray this holy water on you!" I threaten and he just laughs. I snatch up my water bottle, running around to couch. Following me, Nova continues messing with the scissors.
He laughs even harder at my attempt to get water from my empty water bottle. I might as well spit on him.
"I'll make annoying you ten times worse!" I yell and throw imaginary water on him. I add the sound effect of water, because I'm extra.
Like the gum.
"Okay," he finally stops, "Come over here so I can chop it off."
"No, no, no!"
"Matthews, chill, it's just a pair of scissors."
"Yeah, in the hands of someone who hates me."
"Shut- Oh my god! You actually did get water on me! And my this is my favorite shirt.." he whines and looks at something on his shirt.
"I did?" I walk closer to him, feeling bad. I lean down to his shirt and start squinting.
I don't see anything.. wait a minute-
Suddenly, he twists me around and I hear the sound of clipping. "Did you just-"
"Look see," he turns me back around and holds up a cut rubber band proudly. I snatch it, inspecting it for hairs.
"You're so lucky," I mutter when I realize there's nothing.
"No, actually, you're lucky. If I wasn't so nice, I would've either chopped all your hair off, or leave the band in there."
A couple of hours later, Nova managed to teach me how to write a math formula, and how to solve it. My mom made us some of her famous peach cobbler. Now, we're sitting at my dining table, and I'm working on a math formula.
Like, ew.
Math.
"That is so fetch," I say while scribbling numbers down. "Oh my god stop trying to make fetch a thing."
"And on Wednesday, we wear pink."
"Shut up and do your work." Nova grumbles, stopping my Mean Girls saying.
"Boo you whor-"
"Frost! Watch your mouth or I'll put a dirty sock in it!" I hear my mom yell from upstairs. The woman has the ears of dog, I swear. Nova snickers, eating some more peach cobbler. Mom walks down, and gives me a glare as she walks into the kitchen.
"That's what you get for being annoying and not doing your work," he snickers.
"You can't just not know Mean Girls quotes, it's like, social suicide." I say, using my best 'popular' girl voice.
"Uh, what's Mean Girls?"
And it was at this moment, I realize, I have made a new enemy.
Who hasn't seen Mean Girls!
"Slow down. Slow down. You've never seen Mean Girls?!" I exclaim and push away my math book in disbelief.
"No... was I supposed to?" I stare at him in shock.
"You disgrace..."
"If I wasn't a boy, I would slap you for calling me that." Just as I open my mouth to make a comment, my mom walks in with a plate of cookies.
Oh no. Here we go..
"Here you go Nova! Frost doesn't like my oatmeal cookies, even though I add chocolate in them! They're freshly baked," she sets the plate down in front of him.
"Mom, he doesn't need to eat-"
"Oh trust me honey. My cookies are good."
"Uh... thank you Mrs. Matthews but... I'll only eat one if Frost eats one," he says, glancing at me with a mischievous gleam in his eyes.
Let me just stop him there.
Oatmeal cookies are the worst thing ever created! They taste like... like sweetened vomit. Then there's the texture and the smell. And when my mom makes them, she adds so much oatmeal and so much sugar.
The sugar doesn't even help.
(A/N: I actually like oatmeal cookies and they taste sO GOOD)
"What no! They're disgusting!" I immediately decline, but mom gives me a look that could kill. "I mean... sure! I'd love to eat some.. yummy.. oatmeal cookies."
"Wonderful, help yourselves!" I wait until she's out of sight before slowly turning my head to Nova. He holds out a cookie, with a smirk.
"Go on, take it."
"This is fun for you, isn't it?" I grumble and slap his hand away.
"Consider this payback for being annoying." he shoves the cookie in his mouth, and crumbs fall down and onto his shirt.
â¢.â¢
"The lovely Frost walks outside, and scoops up some pebbles." I say to nobody.
Ah. The joy of being up at eleven o'clock at night.
Me and Nova wrapped up tutoring, and my mom wouldn't stop teasing me. Nova forced me to eat one of those monsters.
I walk back inside my house but quietly. I tiptoe into my room, and over to my window. I open it up, laughing evilly. I see Nova's bedroom light turned off, so he must be asleep.
"If you think for one second it's okay to not watch Mean Girls and force me to eat a disgusting oatmeal cookie," I grab a pebble from my hand.
"You thought wrong." I mutter before chucking the pebble at his window.
I continue throwing pebbles at his window, a grin on my face. He finally opens his window, glaring at me.
"What do you want Matthews?"
"I have a really important question! It's a matter of life and death!"
"What?"
"Do you have a cat?"
"Oh my god... you're so annoying... just... go to sleep."
"But-"
"Go to sleep." he says with a small smile.
