This is what it had all came down to. All seven vampires sat out on Taehyung's back porch, dragging out a few extra chairs and sitting around, so chill and calm despite how worked up they've been before. This is exactly what Yoongi wanted for so long.
He had Taehyung right by his side, their chairs basically attached because Taehyung wanted to hold his hand. Yoongi noticed that none of his friends seemed to mind that Taehyung was holding so tightly onto him. Maybe they had finally realized how hard Yoongi had fought to be near Taehyung in the beginning. Maybe they realized that he wasn't joking about wanting Taehyung.
Even Seokjin had stepped out of his comfort zone. Instead of sitting next to Yoongi, for the first time ever, he let him go. And for the first time Yoongi had come into the picture, Seokjin sat next to Jimin. Yoongi could nearly hear the shake in Seokjin's voice, see the tremble of his hands, and see the way he nervously shifted ever so often. He seemed shy, too.
Yoongi didn't know why Seokjin was so nervous. If it was true that Seokjin had been the one to end things with Jimin, maybe he had regretted that. Maybe he realized that he misses him and he wants to accept that.
"Want some?" Yoongi could hear Jimin ask over the chit-chats going on around them. Jimin was holding out his cup of what is presumably blood. He had most likely noticed the glances that Seokjin had given him, but Yoongi knew that Jin didn't want the blood. He wanted to speak to Jimin.
Judging by Seokjin's wide eyes as he looked at Jimin, then to the cup, he seemed to still be nervous. "Um, sure." He took the cup from Jimin, so clumsily that Yoongi wanted to go knock some sense into his best friend.
"They're cute," Taehyung whispered in Yoongi's ear. Yoongi chewed at his own lip as he felt Taehyung's lips brush against his ear. Taehyung must've been watching too.
Yoongi nodded.
"You got some blood on your lip," Jimin chuckled at Seokjin, who looked like he had seen a ghost as he stared at Jimin. He was even more shocked as Jimin leaned forward in his chair and reached up to his top lip, where he had somehow gotten blood, and Jimin wiped the blood with his thumb, his eyes set on Seokjin's lips as he rubbed it away.
Seokjin pressed his hand onto his lips as he watched Jimin put his thumb against his own tongue. To see Seokjin so flustered had Yoongi cracking up at the helpless man. Come to think of it, he had never seen Seokjin become so aware of himself near anybody. He had always been shy, but this is a whole new level.
"Can you two stop flirting?" Hoseok laughed as Seokjin lowered himself into his chair. "This is a family event, not a date."
Taehyung relaxed into his chair and rested his head on Yoongi's shoulder despite what Hoseok was saying. Yoongi felt the need to be closer as well, so he rested his head against Taehyung's and snuggled into him. Even Namjoon was joking around, which made Yoongi happy. Everybody was beginning to get along and he had Taehyung now.
"I'm happy, Tae."
He could feel Taehyung move his head away from him. He lifted his own head as well, their eyes meeting. Taehyung wasted no time in pecking Yoongi's lips, not caring who was near or what they were talking about. He just pecked his lips, giving a sweet smile after he pulled away.
"Good, baby," he said.
Yoongi smiled but avoided eye contact with Taehyung as he did so. He could feel his cheeks hurting as he smiled way too much in the past few hours. He had started smiling so much that his eyes squinted to the point that he could barely see the world around him.
But, everything became a blur as Yoongi heard the sound of a loud click coming from somewhere behind him. Just that one click, and something flying out of the corner of Yoongi's eye. Something small, yet very noticeable. Something that headed straight to where Seokjin was sitting at.
Everything went silent.
And as Yoongi's eyes found Seokjin's wide eyes staring back at him, Yoongi became confused. He became confused until he searched his best friend, immediately gasping at the sight of Seokjin clutching his chest. The sight of woodâ a wooden stake.
"W-What?"
Seokjin was frozen, a single tear falling down his cheek as he stared into Yoongi's eyes. Yoongi felt useless watching his friend just stare at him like that. What was happening to him? Namjoon and Hoseok had instantly stood up and started panicking as blood seeped from the wood, covering it almost completely. They didn't know what to do with the wooden stake in Seokjin's chest.
"J-Jinnie?" Jimin stood up, clenching onto his own heart as he looked down at him.
Yoongi stood up as well, tears falling from his eyes. He didn't fully understand, but he remembered what Taehyung had told him. A wooden stake to the heart.
"Seokjinnie?" Jimin crouched down in front of him to try and meet his eyes, but it was useless. Seokjin wasn't responding to anybody. He was still, like he was actually frozen. Yoongi wished that he could understand what was happening. Is this really happening? Is this some kind of nightmare? Everything was going so well. Everything was fine.
Jimin reached for Seokjin's cheeks and let out a choked sob. "Seokjinnie!" He let himself start fully crying, seeing the person that he was just talking to now completely ignore himâ like Jimin was dead to him. Or more like Seokjin was dead to everyone around him.
He is.
Jimin was shaking, trying his best to wipe his tears as he held onto Seokjin. "Jinnie, please," he cried out even more, completely falling to the wooden porch and letting his head rest on Seokjin's lap. "Namjoon, fucking fix him, god damnit!" he shouted at him.
But Namjoon was stood in shock, for once not knowing what to do. For once, all of the vampires seemed to not know what to do, as they had never been in this situation.
Jimin stood up, his legs wobbly as he forced the tears out of his eyes. "W-Where the fuck did that come from?" He was trembling, glaring off into the woods next to the house. Something in his eyes clicked, Yoongi noticed. Like he had seen something in the distance. His eyes were dark and his fangs immediately came out as he grunted to himself.
As quickly as Yoongi turned away from Jin's body, he could see it all. Jimin running off into the woods, Hoseok crying with his head in his hands, Jungkook staring with an anxious bite to his lip, Namjoon gaping down at Seokjin, who wasn't moving still, and Taehyung. Taehyung hadn't let go of Yoongi's hand, but he was torn between looking at his own best friend running off or if he should be worried for Yoongi, who felt stuck in a paradox, which he would love to get rid of.
He was so uncertain about why, but so certain that Seokjin was just killed.
They were all having so much fun that they hadn't even noticed anybody near them. How had they not heard, or not at least smelled somebody? Who would be out to kill Seokjin and why? Why him?
He focused on the trees, seeing Jimin pull someone out from behind one. Yoongi almost instantly recognized the person as Kwan. Everything that he had once known was torn from his head. He could hear Taehyung growl at the sight of her, and Yoongi watched with an anxious feeling settling over him as he saw Jimin push the girl out from behind the tree, holding onto her head before chomping down ruthlessly onto her neck.
Kwan had a crossbow or a gun-looking thing in her hand, still pointing it straight at them. Taehyung noticed that immediately, so he grabbed onto Yoongi's hand.
"We need to go."
But he didn't see what Yoongi saw. Taehyung didn't pay attention to the click of the gun. He didn't see the tip of it, where another wooden stake was loaded. He didn't see it coming towards them. He was too focused on Yoongi. He was too focused on trying to gather the rest of the others who were behind them, and he didn't see what Yoongi had seen so quickly happening, yet so slowly.
Yoongi was fragile.
He was a new vampire, hoping he could be strong. For so long, he thought he was strong. He thought that he would have the same strength as Taehyung, but he didn't. He became weak as Kwan's piercing green eyes met his for the last time. She looked dead as she pressed the trigger, and it almost looked like an accident on her end. But the wooden stake was too quick and Yoongi was still so shocked from seeing Seokjin die right in front of his eyes. He was frozen, merely watching as the wooden stake spun in the air, going straight for his own heart.
And it hit him right on.
For a moment, everything had become so distant from Yoongi as he stepped back and fell to the porch. His heart. He could feel his heart bursting in his chest, but it wasn't like he was expecting. The stake had gone so much deeper into his chest than it did Seokjin's. He could feel the blood oozing out from him. He could feel the shock and see the frozen world around him. Just like Seokjin, everything stopped. He couldn't move a single thing.
However, he could hear and see still. It was hard to focus, but he could see Taehyung's panicked face and he could sort of tell that he was being held up off of the porch.
"Yoongi!" Taehyung cried out at him, hoping to get something from him, but Yoongi couldn't do anything. All he could do was watch as Taehyung shouted in panic.
Even Jungkook had come into his view. He had tears in his eyes as well, and Namjoon was cursing and crying, but Yoongi couldn't see him. He could only hear his friends, like Hoseok, who was crying in fear.
Taehyung had his hand on Yoongi's cheek, his tears falling onto his chest. "Yoongi," he sobbed, holding Yoongi in his arms. It was heartbreaking to see Taehyung crying over him, but Yoongi couldn't do anything. He couldn't even barely feel anymore.
"I- I love you," Taehyung told him. He repeated it over and over again, but it was fading. Everything was fading at that point. But, as Taehyung reached for his hand, Yoongi tried his damndest to squeeze. He tried so hard, but his body had gone out of his own control. He couldn't feel, move, his hearing was fading away, as well as his sight.
He couldn't hold onto Taehyung.
He was starting to blackout again, just like he had done when he first kissed Taehyung. Everything was withering away, just like when he had turned into a vampire. Just like when Yoongi had died the first time, except this time was less painless. It was slower and more terrifying, sadder than anything Yoongi had ever seen. He never thought he would die like this. He hadn't even gotten to see his family for the last time. He hadn't even gotten to officially be with Taehyung for a full day.
But, he couldn't help it.
He couldn't not lose himself.
Taehyung couldn't stop the tears from pouring out of his eyes as he clutched onto Yoongi. His boyfriend was being ripped away faster than anything, and it was tearing him apart in every way possible. He couldn't even get Yoongi to look at him.
"Yoongi," he called out to him. "I- I won't let you go." He wiped away his tears, his bottom lip trembling as he stared down with blurry eyes at Yoongi. "Please," he sobbed. "Please, baby, I can't lose you again. P-Please." He pressed his forehead against his and cried as he pressed his lips against Yoongi's, just hoping to everything that he could save him, hoping that the witch's curse would work once again, and hoping that Yoongi could turn into a vampire just one last time.
He had pulled the stake out of Yoongi's chest, ignoring the hole in his heart, ignoring the blood gushing out of him. Taehyung had never wanted Yoongi to turn into a vampire so badly, but it wouldn't work. All he could do was sit there and watch the person he loves being taken away from him again.
Taehyung remembers when he first noticed Yoongi. It was when he moved to the school, and it was before he even knew that Yoongi was marked with the T. He had only noticed him because he was friends with the other vampires, but he had noticed him nonetheless. Yoongi was too pretty to miss.
He remembers seeing the purple T on Yoongi's shoulder. He was in the middle of changing for gym class and he just happened to see it. The T was most definitely the one that he had drawn onto Taen's left shoulder, right in that same exact spot. He decided that he would never talk to Min Yoongi, though, because Yoongi wasn't his Taen.
That's right.
Yoongi isn't Taen. Yoongi was so special, only a handful of similarities to Taen, but Yoongi as his own person was so beautiful. He had kept his eye on Yoongi for so long, even before he had saved him from being almost killed at that party. He tried so hard to leave Yoongi out of his life, but the moment he got a taste of something so great, he couldn't let it go.
All the nights watching the sunset together on Yoongi's roof, all the little things like holding hands or being there for Yoongi in moments of need, like carrying him up the stairs when he broke his foot, or something so simple as laughing with him. All the times he had brought Yoongi to his restaurant, all the times they had run together in the meadow, and all the times they cuddled together or time they spent wanting to kiss, but never did. They could've had so much time together.
It's all ripped away from them.
The only thing that Taehyung could do was cry and hold onto Yoongi. He held so tightly that he felt like molding into him.
"H-Hoseok," he sniffled as he turned to look at Yoongi's friend. "Can't- Can't you do something?" he asked him.
With a frown set upon his face, Hoseok merely shook his head down at him. "I can't, Taehyung," he said. "My grandma is the only one I know of who can. But, do you really want this again? This- This isn't okay." He stepped up to Yoongi and let his tears fall as he got on his knees and then he bit his lip to stop himself. "It's meant to be like this, Taehyung. You brought Taen back the first time. This is what's meant to be, can't you tell that?"
Taehyung shook his head. "I'm not letting him go. Not my Yoonie. Bring him back," he demanded as if Hoseok could help.
"It's okay, Taehyung," Hoseok looked up to the sky, trying his damndest to keep his tears in. "It was bound to happen. Taen was never meant to come back to the world."
"Shut the fuck up," Taehyung cried harder, shoving Hoseok away from Yoongi. Hoseok fell helplessly onto the porch. He didn't have the strength to get back up again.
But he may be right.
"T-Tae?" Jimin's voice rang in Taehyung's ears, but he decided to ignore it. He held tighter onto Yoongi. The only person to fill the void was him, and now he's gone. He's cold and stiff in Taehyung's arms, like a rock. Like he was never a human to begin with.
"I knew I shouldn't have let this happen to you baby," he whispered into Yoongi's ear, pulling him into a hug. It wasn't the same, but nothing would ever be the same again. Nothing will ever match Yoongi's soft, low voice, or how gentle and caring he is. Nothing will ever match how pretty he is, how beautiful he was whether he was laughing or crying. Nothing will ever make Taehyung feel so lively again, having Yoongi joking around with his pretty smile, because having someone ripped away from him once is one thing, but having Min Yoongi being taken away from him is something he can't live with.
Taehyung would rather die alone than have it all snatched away from him again. He had brought Yoongi to his world and it had gone to shit. Taehyung will never drag him into this misery again, not if he's just going to die every time Taehyung lays a hand on him.
"Tae..." Jimin stepped up next to him, only making Taehyung realize that he wasn't the only one standing outside still.
He and Yoongi aren't the only ones here. The lifeless look in Yoongi's eyes and the mess of it all made Taehyung feel hopeless.
He gently let Yoongi out of his hold, just then realizing that he had gotten blood all over himself. As he laid Yoongi down on the porch, tears started pouring from his eyes even more. He forced himself off of the porch and immediately found Jimin's arms, both of them throwing their arms around each other into a very harsh hug, but much needed.
He cried into Jimin's arms, sobbing uncontrollably as his best friend cried as well. Hearing Jimin cry was so rare recently and Taehyung didn't know what to do. His tears were pouring as well, but now everybody was crying. Everyone was sniffling and Taehyung knew why. Seokjin and Yoongi were loved by their friends, and even by Taehyung and his friends. He knew that Jungkook and Yoongi had gotten close. Jimin started to like him as well, and he knew that Jimin was still in love with Seokjin. He never had stopped.
Hoseok and Namjoon just had their two best friends ripped away from them as well.
So as he hugged Jimin, he held him close. He couldn't speak. He didn't know what he would say, anyways. He had failed his lover once again, but this time he dragged everyone else into it. He had failed once again. In the end, Taehyung can't save him.
In the end, Taehyung has failed.
