Yoongi couldn't stop thinking about Taehyung. They both want to kiss each other, but Taehyung won't do it. He figures it's because either Taehyung is making up excuses and lying about wanting to kiss him, or maybe Taehyung just wants to be friends right now and doesn't want to cross that line. Either way, Yoongi couldn't stop worrying.
Even when Kwan came over to his house so that they could work on a project together, all he could think about was Taehyung. Will Taehyung show up in the evening on his porch? Is Taehyung alright right now? Is he also working on a school project or is he out eating? Maybe Taehyung isn't even thinking about Yoongi, but he doesn't care. He still can't stop thinking about him.
"Here's some cookies, you two." Yoongi's mother smiled down at Kwan as she placed a plate down in front of them, a plate of freshly baked cookies staring them right in the face. Kwan smiled happily back up at her.
"Thank you!" she said excitedly.
Yoongi hummed at the plate, then looked over at his and Kwan's project, which was only a little over halfway finished. "Thanks, mom," he said as he reached for a cookie, not caring about his fingers burning as he started to chew on it. She left with a soft smile, patting Yoongi on the shoulder before doing so.
Kwan took a cookie as well. "Your mother is so nice." She shoved more of the cookie into her mouth, opposite of Yoongi, who was nibbling on his. "All we have left to do is this." She pointed at her laptop, one of the bulleted points on her screen. "Then we'll be done with the project," she said. Yoongi nodded.
"Then let'sâ"
A knock on the door interrupted him. He bucked up in his seat, hoping that it was the person he had been thinking about all day. He excused himself and crutched to the door before his mother could make it, opening it and revealing the exact person, which made Yoongi smile even though his arms were now hurting because of his crutches.
"You sure do look happy," Taehyung said, but Yoongi didn't even care. He leaned on his crutches, breathless from having hurried to the door so quickly. Taehyung peeped into the house before stepping in, helping Yoongi to stand up better. "Did I come at a bad time? How did you get to the door so fast?"
"I was close to it already."
Taehyung nodded. "Okay..."
"And no," Yoongi shook his head as he backed away from the door to give Taehyung room to come in. He shut the door as Taehyung stepped by him, still holding onto Yoongi. "You didn't come at a bad time. You can just hang out with me and Kwan for a little bit."
"Kwan?" Taehyung pursed his lips into a thin line. "I can go. I don't have to be here."
Yoongi shook his head harder. "You've probably done the project that we're working on like a million times now," he said as he began to walk back to the dining room. "You can help us. And my mother just made way too many cookiesâ not that you'd want any, but... Just come on. It'll be okay."
Taehyung followed him hesitantly into the dining room, eyes focusing on Kwan instantly. Kwan looked back up at Yoongi, then her eyes widened as she noticed Taehyung.
"Oh, hi." She waved shyly. "I'm Kwan," she muttered out. Yoongi sat back in his seat next to Kwan and pulled the chair next to him out, patting it for Taehyung to sit down. Taehyung obeyed, sitting awkwardly in the seat. "So," Kwan continued, "as I was saying, we're almost finished. Let's try to finish tonight."
Yoongi nodded. "Right."
He could feel Taehyung wrap his arm on the back of his chair, barely pulling Yoongi closer to him. Yoongi cleared his throat as he began to type on his own laptop, doing his part of the project. He felt bad for inviting Taehyung in such an awkward moment, having to work on his project, but he couldn't help it. He just wanted Taehyung to not leave.
"Oh, Taehyung!" Yoongi's mother's voice was heard from behind them. Suddenly she was behind Taehyung, wrapping her arms around him. "I made fresh cookies, they're there if you want some." She pointed at the plate, letting go of Yoongi's poor friend.
Taehyung smiled, laughing softly. "Yoongi told me," he said. "I know you didn't make them for me, but thank you."
She shook her head. "They're for all three of you," she said. "Enjoy them! I'll leave you guys alone now." She cracked up as she left.
Yoongi shook his head, embarrassed. "Let's just finish this." Kwan nodded, then leaned over towards Yoongi to look at his laptop, seeming curious about what he's typed.
"I like the little layout you've got going on," she said as she gently brushed her arm against Yoongi's, smiling up at him. Yoongi noticed how bright her eyes were, how innocent she looked as she complimented him, but he could feel Taehyung's arm fall onto his shoulders, pulling him even further away from her.
"Yeah, looks great." Taehyung's voice was monotonous as he spoke, glaring at Yoongi's laptop screen. Yoongi glanced up at him, his cheeks dusted pink as Taehyung's head fell to the side and he smiled bitterly at Yoongi, trying to assure him that he was doing well.
"Thank you," Yoongi chirped as he looked back at his screen. "I mean, it's nothing much, but thanksâ"
"I like your cute little laptop, too." Kwan slid her fingers over Yoongi's stickers on his Apple laptop, the cute little music notes and flower sticker that Hoseok had snuck on there. "The flower is so adorable. It fits you well."
Yoongi blinked at the girl, suddenly feeling like a wall between her and Taehyung because now it just felt like they were both trying their best to make him blush like crazy.
"Yoongi is adorable." Taehyung lifted his arm from behind Yoongi and placed his hand on top of Yoongi's head, fingers sneaking through his locks of dark brown hair, not even fixed or anything, but just blow-dried this morning after he got out of the shower. His head fell back into Taehyung's touch, nearly purring like a cat at the soft, gentle rubbing that Taehyung started doing. As if his cheeks weren't reddened enough from the compliments and being called adorable, now Yoongi's ears are red as well and he was scorching hot.
"Yeah," Kwan dragged out the word. "Hey, Taehyung." She leaned forward in her chair, staring right at said person. Yoongi opened his eyes, not even realizing at first that he had closed them. Taehyung narrowed his eyes at her, tilting his head to get a better view of her. "Why don't you go and get our adorable Yoongi's laptop charger? He left it upstairs and told me not to bother getting it for him, but that was two hours ago and now his laptop is dying. Would you, please?"
Taehyung hummed. "Two hours?" he questioned as he slowly stood up. "Sure. Anything for my adorable Yoongi."
Yoongi watched in confusion as Taehyung left the table. Kwan placed her pencil down on the table and moved her laptop to the side.
"Yoongi," she muttered lowly. Yoongi turned to her as Taehyung left his view, going towards his room. "Before he comes back, I planned on doing this before I left, but now you have company." And then all of a sudden, she was leaning into Yoongi, who had barely even been paying attention enough to notice.
She pressed her lips right onto his, a deep feeling sinking into his stomach. His ears reddened to the max as she pulled him in by the back of his neck, deepening the kiss, but he was frozen. He was frozen and didn't know exactly what to do. He should push her away. He should tell her that he doesn't like her in that way. He should bite her lip harshly for not asking for consentâ or had he given off the wrong idea to her or something?
He leaned away from her, but this girl was consistent. As he pulled her hand away from his neck, he finally freed himself, their lips pulling away with a small smack.
"Kwanâ"
"Here." Taehyung suddenly was next to Yoongi, placing the charger down right on top of his laptop. Yoongi and Kwan's eyes both widened as they turned to look at Taehyung in shame and confusion, Yoongi's heart dropping as Taehyung bit his own bottom lip, his eyes not daring to even try and meet Yoongi's. He looked disappointed. "I have to go. Jungkook and I had plans today. I forgot."
Yoongi shook his head, still confused and flustered. "Wait." He tried to stand, but Taehyung held him down merely by holding his shoulder, keeping him in his place. "Taehyung, please don't go, " he muttered quietly.
"I'll see you at school," was all that Taehyung said before he turned to leave. Yoongi's lips were parted as he watched him, that feeling of deep sinking becoming a holeâ his whole body felt like the hole.
He turned to Kwan, her eyes set on her own laptop out of embarrassment. "I'm sorry," she mumbled. "I think I understand what's happening now. I didn't know."
Yoongi frowned at her. "I'm sorry, Kwan. We aren'tâ Me and Taehyung aren't together or anything if that's what you think." He sighed. "But..."
"But you don't like me," she said to herself. "You like him, right? I'm sorry. I've just had a little crush on you for a few months and I thought that I had nothing to lose, so I tried to be your friend. You didn't give me any mixed signals. I forced myself on you."
Yoongi's head dropped and he looked down at his lap. "I'm sorry, Kwan."
"Don't be."
