Chapter 9
Anya shook out of the grasp of the guards. He fell forward toward Adeline, cradling her dying body in his arms. She looked up to him, struggling to breathe, âAnya⦠I-Itâs.â She coughs up blood while trying to speak, â-t your faultâ¦â Before her eyes glazed over, her breath slowed to a stop. âNo⦠Adeline⦠Please! NO!!â He screamed, and something inside of him shattered. He yelled out in rage and began to float into the air, a large crack piercing the air as all the men who stood ready to strike had their necks snapped in an instant. Anya shot forward, the ground crumbling as he approached the tall woman at speeds faster than the eye can see. He crashed into her and began slashing, stabbing, and clawing. Trying desperately to rip her to pieces. She raised her spear and blocked the first few swipes, but as more came faster and faster, her guard faltered. He slashed and hacked faster and faster, not stopping until every drop of blood in her body was spread across the floor behind her. With one last cleaving slash, her body fell to the ground, yet she was somehow still clinging to life. Anya walked up to her and started speaking in a tongue he didnât know with venom and malice like he'd never heard, âÎÏÏ ÎµÎ¯Ïαι ο ÏÎÏÏν Ïον ÏÏνο Î¼Î¿Ï . ΠθεαÏÎ®Ï ÏÎ¿Ï Î¸Î±Î½Î¬ÏÎ¿Ï ÏÎ·Ï ÏÏ ÏÎ®Ï Î¼Î¿Ï . ÎακάÏι να ÏÎÏÎµÎ¹Ï Î³Î¹Î± ÏάνÏα ÏÏον ÏÏνο. Îίθε οÏÏε ο θάναÏÎ¿Ï Î¿ÏÏε η καÏαÏÏÏοÏή να Ïε ÏÏÏÎ¿Ï Î½. The very light around him began to dim as his eyes began glowing a hollow gold. Each step caused the ground to crack and groan under the pressure. Reaching out towards Adeline, he falls to his knees, âAdeline⦠Please wake up. Please! Donât leave me here! ADELINE, PLEASE!â He held her body for a moment before screaming and flying up into the sky. Tears were falling down his cheeks as he moved faster and faster towards the sky. The very light around him began to bend, the very clouds freezing as he flowed through them. He kept going up, even when nothing was pulling him down anymore. He rose higher and higher, spiraling faster and faster towards an unknown urge. And he didnât stop. Anya never knew how long it took for him to reach the sun. Anya wasnât Anya anymore. Something deeper had taken hold of him, something that was never meant to be seen. At first, nothing seemed to happen when he hit it. It had seemed as if he had simply disappeared. But sitting in the middle of the giant star, he reached out his invisible grasp, absorbing everything it had. Yet he reached out farther, tendrils of leeching power shot in all directions. Millions of invisible arms leached all energy for trillions of miles. The pain he was feeling was immeasurable, yet gratifying. He wanted to scream in pain, yet no sound came. He wanted his pain to stop, but no peace came. He sat there, for how long he doesnât know. Maybe hours, maybe seconds, maybe days, screaming. Then the hand let go, and it all exploded out.
