Chapter 7

The bus lurched to a stop. He had been separated from his two friends due to seats being assigned, rather than chosen. He did feel better since he had first awoken, but the feeling of dread still hadn’t left him. It was one of the worst feelings he had ever felt. A feeling of sickness and decay he couldn’t shake. He should be excited by the Parthenon. It was the main reason he wanted to come on this field trip. Yet the decay never left his stomach as he exited the bus. Every step he took made the feeling deepen; each step made something in his mind scream out in agony. Each step felt like it was going to be his last; his muscles tensed at every sound. He couldn’t find his friends either; they would know how to help, he thought. Adeline had seen him in states like this before and always helped. But as he walked up the stairs of the Parthenon, he felt more alone than he ever had. But a voice yelled out a name he responded to yet couldn't recognize, “Librin!” His mind shuddered at the name. He flicked his head towards the sound to see Adeline and Will, “Anya!” Adeline started quickly, “Are you feeling any better?” Anya raised his head, breath quickening, “What did you call me?” The girl looked at him, puzzled, “I didn’t call you anything? I just said your name…” Anya shook his head, “Sorry, I must’ve just been hearing things. I am feeling a bit better now that the two of you are here. I don’t know what’s going on today…” The two looked at him with a concerned look, but before they could speak, a booming voice spoke, “ATTENTION!” The room got quiet as the group of kids turned their attention towards a tall figure entering the room.
