Chapter 5
âAnyaâ¦.Anyaâ¦Anya!â Anya jolted awake, sweat falling down his face. A classmate he was rooming with looked at him with a confused gaze. âSorry⦠Iâm not feeling well,â said Anya. âWell, Iâm sorry, but weâve gotta go. The teacher called for everyone ten minutes ago! I couldnât shake you awake!â the classmate exclaimed. Anya stood shakily, grabbed his bag, and set off after his classmate. After a short walk, a familiar voice called out to him, âAnya!â Anya turned sluggishly towards the voice, his head pounding. The voice quickly approached. Adeline and Will approached Anya. âWhat took you so long?! I thought you were excited to see these old buildings?â said Will. âSorry⦠Iâve had a terrible headache since I woke up⦠Had a nightmare too, I just donât feel well,â groaned Anya irritably. Adeline quickly put her hand to his forehead, checking his temperature. âYou donât feel warm⦠I think I brought some pain medication for motion sickness. Do you want some?â Adeline rummaged through her purse, the clinking only worsening his headache. Anya sluggishly nodded, and they set off walking towards a group of buses. A teacher walked up to them, irritated, âAnya! What took you so long to get down here? Weâve been waiting ten minutes for you!â Anya glared up at the teacher, which was out of character for the shy boy, groaning a fake apology. The teacher sighed and walked away, and both Will and Adeline exchanged a concerned glance. âAre you sure youâre alright?â Adeline said meekly. âYeah, Iâm alright, I just need a few minutesâ¦â he said in a low voice. The group funneled into the hastily formed lines dotted about the hotel lobby and slowly made their way into the buses. The instant Anyaâs head hit the cushion of the bus seat, darkness surrounded him, and he fell into sleep.
