Chapter 3

After finding himself in the hotel room, Anya lay down to rest, but couldn’t sleep as a faint sense of dread overcame him. He tried to ignore it, but felt as though someone or something was watching him in the corner of his eye. This was also not an uncommon occurrence for Anya. Lots of his life had seemed abnormal to anyone he told of it. Odd memories, locations he swore he'd seen but never been to, and knowledge of events he wasn’t even a part of. He was always seen as the odd one out by his peers, but was never hated by any of them. Ever since he was young, he has always had a fantasy to tell. Stories no one could understand how he learned. The largest fiend grew larger and faster than most at their age and was a perfect candidate for violence. Anya watched in dismay at Adeline's pain. He had a soft side for her even before meeting her. Anya had no way, nor the will, to talk to her without a reason. The fiends eventually left, disinterested in the girl's now sobbing face hiding in the corner. Anya approached slowly, asking if she was alright, and it was history after that. The two-man group became a trio, with the three of them becoming a known friend group in their town, never far apart from each other. It had been many years since then, and they were in high school now. Anya leaned harder into his pillow, squeezing shut his eyes, but the feeling in his stomach wouldn’t fade. He closed his eyes once more, and his vision went black…
