She had met Karenâs brother before. They were actually cousins, but they were so close that they
called each other brother and sister He was the total opposite of Karen. He was super mature and
stable. He became a physics professor at a young age, so he was clearly an intellectual.
Just as Dorothy arrived at Enlightenment Church, she saw a woman frantically waving at her by a pillar
She reluctantly walked over. âThere are so many people around. Arenât you afraid theyâd laugh at you?â
âWho cares? There are a lot of people here, and I was afraid you wouldnât see me. Karen chuckled,
then nodded towards the man beside her. âThis is my brother, Kenneth, Remember him? The chatty
professorâ
Dorothy chuckled. 1 rememberâ
Back then, both of them had just quit their previous jobs to work at the Prosperity Consortium. Her
brother being overprotective, bought a small duplex nearby for her that was fully furnished
was obvious that he was a considerate and caring brother, so they got along well.
Kenneth patted his sister on the head in exasperation. âI did all that for your own goodâ
âYeah, yeah, you and mom are always on the same side.â Karen rolled her eyes while throwing an arm
over Dorothyâs shoulder. âLet me introduce my bestie, Dorothy Sheâs gorgeous, kindâhearted and
currently single.â
Dorothy was caught off guard by this introduction
Luckily, Kenneth was used to his sisterâs antics and extended a hand to Dorothy. âHi, Iâm Kenneth. We
met when I helped Karen move.â
âNice to see you againâ She shook his hand politely then withdrew it
The three of them went to the main hall to pray. Then Karen claimed she was hungry, and Kenneth
offered to buy some shacks and
water
Once he left, Karen started winking at Dorothy
âWhat do you think of my brother? Any chance for the two of you *
Dorothy was taken aback âStop joking! Donât play matchmakerâ
âIâm serious! My brother came here yesterday and I found out he broke up with his girlfriend half a year
ago. Heâs single too!â Karen was overjoyed when she heard this âI wouldnât trust any jerk with you, but
if itâs my brother. Ill stake my life on it. Heâd make a great husband. He has a stable job with a high
income, and heâs the only child. You know my uncleâs business, Everfresh Mart. Itâs more than enough
to cover your momâs medical billsâ
âStop!â Dorothy interrupted her. âIf thatâs your intention, then Im leaving.â
âWhy? Donât you like my brother?â
âI never thought about him in that wayâ She knew Karen meant well, but it simply wasnât possible.
As they were talking, Kenneth came back with the snacks.
He gave Karen one and handed Darthy one without garlic.
*I remember Karen saying you donât eat garlic.â
âThank you.â Dorothy was okay initially, but after what Karen said, she felt awkward.
After roaming around the church, she decided to go back to the hospital to see her mom.
âLet me drive you. I came in my carâ Kenneth looked at Dorothy gently.
Karen nodded vigorously. âPerfect! I want to shop around more. You guys, go aheadâ
âNo, itâs fine. Lâ
Before Dorothy could finish, someone was calling her name from behind.
She instinctively tumed around to see a black Maybach parked by the road. The window rolled down
halfway, revealing Everettâs handsome face.
âDorothy, come hereâ
âMr. Lopez?â
