Kenneth couldnât even bear to think about itâIf one day he received news of Dorothyâs deathâ¦.
He was certain it would drive him mad.
âI know you mean well, but I have no choice butâ¦â Dorothy hadnât finished her sentence when Kenneth
suddenly stood up and headed for the door.
She paused, then hurried after him, grabbing his arm. âWhere do you think youâre going?â
âIâm going to find Everett! I need to know what the hell heâs up to! Your motherâs already dead because
of him. Does he also have to take you down before heâs satisfied?â
âDonât.â Dorothy blocked his path. âKenneth, I promise you, Iâll take extra care. We canât draw attention
to ourselves until the security systems in Byte 7 are back online.â
She was determined to make everyone who had hurt her mother pay, but now wasnât the time to tip
them off.
âYouâre walking straight into the lionâs den! Dorothy, Iâm terrified of losing you.â
He couldnât imagine a life without her or the torturous schemes their enemies would concoct once they
set their sights on Dorothy.
âTve got it under control. Donât worry.â Dorothy was ready to move forward.
She shouldâve known it wouldnât be so simple to end things.
It wasnât as easy as sheâd hoped, there were bound to be complications.
Kenneth held back, knowing he had no standing to keep persuading her, In the end, he could only
make a small request. âYou can work at the Lopez Corporation, but you have to let me drive you to and
from work every day!â
âYouâd stay in Eldoria City for me?â Dorothy was taken aback, frowning. âBut you have a job!â
âNothing else matters. I need to ensure your safety,â Kenneth said, patting her shoulder. âDonât worry
about me: I can find a good job in Eldorria City. Iâll look for a place close to the Lopez Corporation. Itâll
be convenient for your commute, and If you need me, I can be there in no time.â
Dorothy wasnât concerned about these.
She couldnât bear the weight of such a debt.
âKenneth, youâve already sacrificed too much for me. I donât want you to do this!â
âYou are a sister to me. Itâs only right for a brother to protect his sister. Besides, Langston has always
been under my care, and now that heâs with Everett, Iâm worried. Iâm begging you, let me stay in
Eldorria City!â Kennethâs plea left Dorothy no room to refuse.
The dangers were blatant; it was clear he wouldnât leave.
Kenneth had made up his mind. If Dorothy agreed, heâd stay without question. If she didnât, heâd stay
secretly.
Dorothy had guessed as much.
âYou wouldnât leave no matter what, would you?â
âNo, I canât leave.â
âFine.â Dorothy laid out her terms. âYou can stay in Eldoria City, and you can drive me to work, but you
have to go on the blind dates your family has set up.â
Kenneth froze, his brows furrowing. âDid my parents tulk to you?â
Dorothy shook her head, her voice soft. âNo, but Kenneth, you should have a family of your own. You
canât spend all your time on me; Itâs a huge burden!â
Kenneth just looked into Dorothyâs eyes, his lips barely moving. âDo you really want me to go on these
blind dates?â
