âAfter you were done, you tossed it into the trash, and someone couldâve picked it up the next day. Itâs
a possibility!â
Everett didnât want to entertain that thought at all.
Seeing him just downing his drink, Jeffrey sighed, âOther than that, thereâs no other explanation! It
takes two to tango, and they mustâve gotten a hold of your⦠you know. You swear that Dorothy was
your only woman. The kid couldnât have just popped out of thin air, right?â
âDrink.â Everett was already annoyed and didnât want to keep hearing him ramble on.
Jeffrey rolled his eyes, âHold off on the drinking. Did your people find any lead on the kid?â
âNothing. Theyâre still searching.â
âNo news on my end either. Should we broaden the search? The kid might not be in Eldorria City
anymore.â
âIâve already expanded the search.â He was even more eager to find the child.
Then proceed with a paternity test. Everything would be clear then, no more guessing around.
Jeffrey glanced at the bottles of booze on the table, both amused and annoyed.
His severe OCD had him lining up the bottles neatly in a row. He had already chugged down seven or
eight of them.
âSure you donât want me to call over some ladies? Get your eyes on someone else!â He scrolled
through several photos of gorgeous women on his phone.
But Everett didnât even glance up.
Jeffrey couldnât help but roll his eyes. âYouâre even harder to persuade than Lane! Youâre as stubborn
as a mule.â
When he mentioned Lane, Everettâs hand noticeably stilled.
Jeffrey caught that immediately!
âStill bothered by someone pursuing Dorothy? Donât tell me you see Lane as a rival! Heâs just after your
exâwife, ex!â
âShut up.â
Everett poured himself another drink, clearly not wanting to listen.
Jeffrey sighed, âIâd love to snap a photo of you and show people how heartbroken the CEO of the
Lopez Corporation could be over a woman.â
*Still no sign of him, and my guys even got played by him!â
Hearing this, Heather wanted to strangle the man on the spot.
Incompetent and full of excuses.
âHeâs just a kid! And you guys canât find him?â
âThis kid is a genius, managed to crack codes and hide his tracks so we couldnât detect him!â The man
was also speechless. If this situation blew up, he knew heâd be dealing with Everett. âYouâre talking as if
I wonât be implicated!â
âI told you ages ago to off him, but you hesitated. Now look at the mess weâre in! If you had just finished
him off, weâd only have to worry about where to bury him!â
Heather was as restless as a cat on a hot tin roof.
Knowing that Everett returned to Eldorria City, she didnât dare to show her face or make her presence
known.
Currently, she had no idea how the situation would unfold, so she had to make sure that her deeds
wouldnât be exposed.
âThatâs Everettâs son! You wanted me to kill him? Why didnât you do it yourself? Youâre just thinking of
using me as a scapegoat if things go south!â He wasnât a fool. Whatâs the point of making money if he
didnât live to spend it?
Heather rubbed her temples, âI donât have time to argue with you. Keep searching. Iâll think of another
plan!â
After hanging up, she hesitated for a long time before deciding to tell Amanda about the situation. The
only person who could help her right now was Amanda.
âHow did the kid go missing?â
âAmanda, I never intended to hold him captive. After all, heâs Everettâs son, and I didnât have the heart
to keep a constant watch on him, so he escaped!â
âYouâre too soft! We, the Lopez family, donât recognize a child of unknown origin.â
