Only a few seconds passed before Everett began dialing Jeffreyâs number
After many rings, the call was finally answered.
The noise on Jeffreyâs end was chaotic. It sounded like he was out drinking with friends; the clinking of
glasses was evident in the background.
âWhere are you?â
âHaving a drink, man. A buddy from abroad just got back, so weâre catching up.â
Everett frowned. âThe picture you sent me of that kid, cd you photoshop it?â
Jeffrey was taken aback and raised his voice. âI donât have time for that kind of nonsense Today, while I
was working late at the office, this kid showed up at the Lopez Corporation. The security guards
probably saw the resemblance between him and you and decided to bring him to me.â
âWhereâs the kid then?â
âRight next to me! The kid doesnât know his momâs name. All he knows is that his dad looks a lot like
him. I couldnât just leave him out on the street, could 17
But Jeffrey had already made plans for the night, and, left with no choice, he had to bring the kid along
âYou brought a kid to a bar?!
âWhat else was supposed to do? Jeffrey seemed to step out of the bar. The surrounding noise was
significantly quieter. âHe really does look a lot like you. Iâm almost certain that you two are father and
sun. Otherwise, why would I go through all this trouble?â
He was a free spit, so he wasnât particularly fond of children,
âDonât drink anymore, and take the kid to a hotel for the night. Iâll be back tomorrow?
Although Everett was still unclear about the whole situation, he had to figure out why a child resembling
him had appeared.
âDeal! I make sure to deliver him to you in one piece! After all, this might be your son!â Jeffrey chuckled
âHm, youâre something else. You had a son this big and didnât even know about it. I have to interrogate
you when you get back
Everett could only sigh in frustration. He tried Hard to recall his past, but couldnât come up with
anything.
Alter a moment, Everett picked up his phone and called Kevin.
It was late, and Kevin sounded groggy
âMr. Lopez, what can I do for you?â
âSony to disturb you. I wanted to ask something. You mentioned earlier that Dorothyâs friend Karen
might have gotten married and had a daughter, right?â
Kevin paused. âYes! I saw the surveillance footage, Karen was rushing to the hospital with a child when
she was admitted,
you sure it was a gid?â
âYes, the child even had pigtails. It was easy to tell that she was a girl.â
Everett felt a headache coming on.
âDoes the girl look like me?â
Kevin was taken aback by the question; after all, he had only seen surveillance footage, which wasnât
very clear. 1 think⦠not really,â
But he wasnât completely sure.
âSo it should be⦠Everett wasnât sure how he fell
He had suddenly thought that maybe the child Karen had brought with her that day was the sume child
Jeffrey had mentioned. If that was the case, then it was possible that he and Dorothy had a child
together.
They had a son.
But Kevin shattered his theory.
The two children were of different genders, and Kevin said the child didnât look like him.
