She laughed awkwardly. âMr. Lopez, you donât know my mom. Sheâs old-fashioned and canât accept the
contract between us. I was afraid sheâd get mad if she found out, so I didnât tell her the truth.â
âSo, you plan to make up with your boyfriend once the one-year contract is over?â
His question was too sharp, and his gaze was too penetrating, leaving Dorothy at a loss for words.
She wished she hadnât made up this out-of-the-blue boyfriend. Now she was shooting herself in the
foot.
âUm⦠I havenât thought about that.â
She couldnât say that she definitely wouldnât get back together with him, fearing that he would suspect
that she was clinging to him.. âYouâve thought about it.â Everett said coldly, âOtherwise, why wouldnât
you tell your mother that you guys have already broken up?â Dorothy, who wasnât good at making up
stories, was now at a loss for words. âUmâ¦â¦â
âThink about the contract again.â Everett stood at the end of the hospital corridor. His tall figure was
half-immersed in the darkness, and his tone was cold and distant.
âDorothy, I have cleanliness obsession. Itâs serious.â
Huh?
She had no idea how Everett had ended up talking about his cleanliness obsession. By the time she
wanted to speak, he had already disappeared.
âEverettâs train of thought jumps too fast.â Dorothy furrowed her brows, finding it difficult to figure her
sugar daddy out. Not only did she have to handle his insatiable stamina in bed, but she also had to
learn to read this manâs mind.
Back in the ward, the doctor was monitoring Bellaâs heart.
Upon seeing her daughter walk in with a pained expression, she quickly asked, âWhat happened? Did
your boss criticize you?â
âNo.â Dorothy pulled up a chair to sit down and began peeling an apple for her mother.
âI didnât say anything. I just asked him to take care of you a little more. Bella thought back and pouted.
âHeâs tall and handsome, but why is he so petty? I didnât even say anything, and he got mÃ¥d.
Dorothy sighed. âCan you stop guessing? It has nothing to do with him. Iâm just upset about work.â
âTake it slow. If youâre having difficulties, donât push yourself. Go home early today, get a good nightâs
sleep, and everything might be solved tomorrow.â
âOkay.â She handed the apple to her mother and glanced at the time. âI really have to go early today.â
Although she was going to be trained at the headquarters, she couldnât ignore her duties at the
Prosperity Consortium. Everything needed to be in order.
After chatting with her mother for a while, Dorothy left the hospital when it was completely dark.
Since she didnât have to go to Bay Residence today, she went straight back to her previous residence.
Just as she had taken a shower and changed into her pajamas, her phone on the table rang.
It was Everettâs number.
Hesitant, Dorothy picked up. âHello, Mr. Lopez!â
âMs. Sanchez, itâs me.â It was Everettâs assistant. âMr. Lopez is drunk. Weâre at the Crimson
International Club; can you come pick him up?â
âWhat? Just send him back to Bay Residence.â She didnât have a car or the strength to support him, so
how could she pick him up?
âNo can do! I⦠I⦠Iâve been drinking too!â
Dorothy frowned. She wanted to suggest the assistant call Everettâs true love, but she swallowed her
words.
She wasnât sure what kind of misunderstandings or grudges they had between them. If he hadnât called
her, it must have been
inconvenient.
âAlright, wait for me. Iâll be there in half an hour.â
