Suddenly, my phone started ringing 'Neha'
"Hello"
"Hello, bro, how are you, and when are you coming home?" She asked.
"Neha, I am fine, and how is everyone at home?"
"Everyone is fine here. We are missing you, bro. Rahul told me that you didn't even go to work after your marriage. Bro, please come home." Sadness was evident in her voice.
All this is happening, because of that useless girl.
"Bro, tomorrow we are going back to London, as you know, my exams are starting next week. So, please, bro, come to meet us before we go back." Now she started crying.
"Shh, Neha, don't cry. I will come tomorrow. Please stop crying now and tell me when is your flight"
"Tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.," she said while crying.
"Ok, I will come. Now please don't cry."
"Ok, bye. Mom is calling me."
"Ok, bye, take care, " I said and cut the call.
It seems like, I have to see that witch's face tomorrow.
"What happened, baby? " Samaira asked me as she got up from my lap. I also stood up.
"Neha called, saying tomorrow they are going back to London. I mean mom, dad, and Neha. So, I have to go home tomorrow." I don't want to see that witch, but it seems like I don't have any other option. But Samaira didn't say anything, which surprised me.
I thought she would get angry or become sad, but she didn't react.
She went to her room without saying anything.
These days she is behaving differently. I thought, but later I shrugged. Maybe I am overthinking.
Khushi's POV
It's been twelve days since I married Shourya. Since then, he hasn't come home or to the office. Mom and dad are very sad because of him. Neha is also missing him.
I freshened up, put on my pajamas, and came out of the bathroom. Mom was already there, sitting on the bed.
"Khushi, come; I was waiting for you only." She said, giving me a weak smile and got up from the bed.
"What happened, mom? Is everything alright?" I asked.
She cupped my cheek and said, "Yes, Khushi, everything is fine."
She then made me sit on the bed, and she also sat beside me.
"Khushi, tomorrow we are going back to London."
"What?"
Why are they going to London? What will I do here without them?
"Yes, Khushi. Neha's exams are approaching, and we also have to handle the company's London branch. So, tomorrow we are going back," she said, squeezing my hand lightly. Tears gathered in my eyes, thinking that they were leaving me here alone. I will miss them.
"Shh, don't cry, Khushi," I hugged her tightly.
I will miss them. Since I got married, they always treated me as their own daughter.
"I will miss you all, mom," I said between my cries.
"We will miss you too, Khushi," mom said, stroking my back. She then broke the hug and held my chin and made me look at her.
"Khushi, I want something from you," she said.
"Tell me, mom, what you want, and I will give you it to you." But what she said next made me want to take my words back.
"Khushi, please don't give up on my son. I know he is a little rude, but he also has a good side. Promise me that you will make this marriage work." She said as she forwarded her right hand to take a promise from me.
What about him, mom? Will he try to make this marriage work? In a relationship both partners have to try to give their best. Only one partner can't do anything.
"Promise me, Khushi," mom said. There were tears in her eyes.
Will I be able to give this marriage a chance? I asked myself.
I looked at mom, who was waiting for my answer.
"I promise mom, I will try to give my best for this marriage." I was not ready to say those words, but I can't see tears in mom's eyes.
She hugged me tightly. "Thank you so much, Khushi. I am glad that you are my daughter-in-law"
I smiled.
"By the way, Khushi, why didn't you keep your clothes in the cupboard?" she asked, furrowing her brows.
"Mom, actually I didn't ge-get time." I lied.
I don't want to keep my clothes in his closet. Maybe he will not like it.
"What? Khushi, it's been twelve days since your marriage, and you are saying you didn't get time?" She looked surprised at my reply.
"Ok, come now. Let's put your clothes in the cupboard." She got up and held my hand.
"No, mom, it's ok. I will do it by myself," I tried to refuse.
"No, come, I will help you." She was not ready to listen to me.
I sighed, knowing that I didn't have any other option. I got up to keep my clothes in the cupboard.
Mom opened his cupboard. It was full of his clothes. Mom made some space for my clothes and kept them in it.
I knock on Neha's door.
"Come in," she said.
I went inside.
She was packing her luggage. Her back was facing me.
She then turned.
"Bhabhi, You? I thought some maid. By the way, you don't have to knock while coming into my room." She said, zipping her bag.
"Do you want help in packing?" I asked her politely.
"No, bhabhi, it's done."Â She said and removed her bag from the bed and kept it on the floor, then came near me.
"I will miss you, bhabhi," she said in a sad tone.
"I will miss you too, Neha. I will be alone here. Without y'all, this house will feel empty." I don't want them to go.
"Don't worry, bhabhi. You will not be alone." She said. I looked at her with confusion.
"Bro will come tomorrow. Just a few minutes ago, I called him, and he said he would come tomorrow." She continued with an excitement.
Her excitement made me shiver in fear.
"You both will be alone in the house. So you both can do as much romance as you want. I want to play with little Shourya and little Khushi soon," She said, laughing, which made me blush.
"Shut up, Neha," I said, hiding my smile, and slightly slapped her arm.
"See, bhabi, you are looking like a red tomato." She said and started laughing hard.
I gave her a glare.
Shourya's POV
I got up and went to the washroom, did my morning business, and got ready to go home. I glanced at the clock. It was 10:00 a.m. I took my mobile, which was on the bed, and went downstairs.
Samaira was on the phone, talking with someone. After seeing me, she cut the call.
"Good morning, baby," she said, giving me a peck on the lips.
"Good morning, Sam," I greeted her back and sat down to have breakfast. She also sat beside me.
"So you are going today?" She asked me in a sad tone while buttering the bread.
"Yes, Sam," I said and started seeping my coffee.
"By the way, Sam, you didn't tell me about your visit to my office." I asked her.
"I wanted to teach that trash a lesson for marrying my boyfriend, but Rahul came in the middle. You know that idiot was taking her side. He even threw me on the floor," she said, shedding her tears.
"What?"
Rahul did that with my Samaira for that gold digger.
"Yes, baby, he even gave me bad words for that witch. I think he developed some feelings for that middle-class trash." She started crying more. I fisted my hands. I massaged my temple to calm myself.
"Please, stop crying, Sam," I rubbed her back lightly.
"I am telling you, baby. I will not leave that middle-class girl," she said while wiping away her tears.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. That witch will see the darkest days of her life. She has made the biggest mistake by marrying me. Now she will face the consequences." I said this while gritting my teeth.
I will not leave that gold digger.
Just wait and watch, Miss. Khushi Raichandr. Your worst nightmare is coming to haunt you.
After bidding goodbye to Samaira, I went home.
I parked my car and went inside.
All were sitting in the hall, talking about something and that witch was laughing with my dad. They stopped talking when they noticed me.
That gold digger was looking at me in shock.
Don't worry, sweetheart, just wait; you will get more shocks in your life.
Mom came near me. "How are you, Shourya? And where were you?"
"Mom, I am fine. Mom is there anything to eat? I am hungry." I tried to avoid her second question. If I tell them that I was at Samaira's place, they will not like it.
"Yes, go and sit. I am coming." She told me and went to the kitchen.
I went and sat on the sofa.
"Shourya, why didn't you come to the office these days, and where were you? Since your marriage, you are not coming home or going to work. I will not tolerate this type of behaviour next time, Shourya. So be Careful!" Dad said in a stern tone.
That witch was stealing glances from me.
"Come, Shourya." Mom called me from the dining room. I got up and went and sat in the dining room.
Mom kept one plate near me and put mix bhaji on it. It smells like a Goan bhaji. My mouth watered after seeing aloo parathas and mix bhaji in front of me. It smells delicious.
I took one bite of it.
Oh, god, it tastes really nice ....mom and her food.
"Hmm.... Mom, it tastes like heaven," I praised my mom while having parathas with bhaji.
"This is all cooked by Khushi," mom said, smiling.
I stopped eating and got up.
"Shourya, finish it"
"No, mom, my appetite died," I said, and I went to my study room. I don't want to eat anything made by that witch.
âªâªâªâªâª
Someone started knocking on my door. I looked up to see the person.
"Dad, please come in. I have told you so many times not to knock, but you never listen," I said.
"It's called manners, young man,"Â he said, rolling his eyes.
"Do you want something, dad?" I asked him, because he never comes into my study room without reason.
"Yes," he said, looking into my eyes.
"What, dad?" I asked him.
"A promise," he said, making me confused.
I looked at him, furrowing my brows in confusion.
"Yes, I want you to promise me that you will try to accept Khushi as your wife, and also that you will try to make this marriage work." He threw a bomb at me.
"Dad, I can't promise you that. You and I know that this is a forced marriage, and dad, I don't love her, nor I can give her any rights as wife," I said, gritting my teeth.
How can I accept that gold digger as my wife? She is and will be nothing to me.
"Shourya, she is really a nice girl. She will keep you happy. I am telling you, one day you will fall in love with her. And I guarantee you that one day you will come and thank me for bringing her into your life," dad said in a calm tone.
"That day will never come in my life, dad," I challenged him.
"Mark my words, young man, you will." He challenged me back, gave me a smile, and went.
In your dreams, dad, I will never fall in love with that gold digger.
I love Samaira.. right? Then why will I love that witch? No, I will never love that girl. She is not even my type of girl.
I will never fall for that middle- class gold digger.
I will prove you wrong, dad, and not only you but everyone else who thinks that she is a right girl for me.
