Kylieâs face turned pale when she saw what her manager sent to her. When did this program become a live broadcast? Isnât this supposed to be a recorded broadcast?
Little did she know, it was all a plot designed by a bossy superior.
He wanted to see someone in particular right away, so heâd bought the programâs copyright for five hundred million.
Since he was the programâs owner, the production team would have to do as he wished.
After all, no one in Jadeborough dared to mess with Samuel.
Soon after, Nancy and the rest were also informed.
Nancy breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, I didnât say anything I shouldnât have said just now. Kylie is just reaping what she sowed.
Steve and John were safe as well because they didnât say what they werenât supposed to.
Kathleen furrowed her brows when she saw the text Charles sent to her.
Why did they suddenly change it from a recorded broadcast to a live broadcast? This is ridiculous.
Donât we need additional technical support now that weâre doing a live broadcast?
With that in mind, she walked outside to have a look around. That was when she saw a few production trucks parked at the side of the road. She instantly knew where the trucks had come from when she saw the logo of Macari Group printed on them.
Kathleen held her forehead at the sight of that. My instincts were right! This must be Samuelâs doing! Has he gone mad?
Kylie returned with a grouchy expression on her face. When she saw Kathleen, she dared not to talk to her with the attitude and tone sheâd used before.
Steve strode over as well and asked, âWhat now?â
With a pale face, Kylie grumbled, âWhat do you mean? Am I the only one doing the program? What are you asking me for? Why canât you guys figure it out?â
Steve was stumped. None of us said we werenât going to find a solution. She was the one who took it upon herself, no?
Kylie realized sheâd spoken in an aggressive tone, so she uttered in an apologetic tone, âIâm sorry.
Iâm just worried. I just want the dinner to be done well.â
âItâs all right.â Steve frowned.
Right then, Nancy approached them and suggested, âWorse comes to worst, weâll just prepare some home-cooked dishes. Thatâs the best we can do.â
âWhat do you guys know how to make?â Steve queried. âScrambled eggs?â
Kylie and John were just about to say something, but they immediately silenced themselves.
Nancy, on the other hand, uttered softly, âI only know how to make soup. We canât possibly prepare soup only, can we?â
âIf thereâs no other way, why donât we reserve a table at another restaurant?â Kylie suddenly came up with an idea that she thought was brilliant.
In response, Kathleen stared at her and asked monotonously, âThe production team only allocated four thousand to spend. If you were to reserve a table at a restaurant, wouldnât we use up all the money? Itâs not like we can collect money from the people who are eating, right? If we were to spend the money today, how about tomorrow?â
Kylie bit her lips and retorted, âWhat, then? Since youâre quick to shut me down, why donât you come up with something instead?â
Kathleen looked at her calmly and said, âKylie, Iâve rejected your idea because we have to abide by the rules of the program. Since there arenât any feuds between us, why are you so critical of me? If you keep this up, donât blame me when I bite back.â
Kathleenâs imposing presence had intimidated Kylie.
Although Kathleen was usually gentle and sweet, she could be frightening when she was angered.
If Samuel was around, she could lose that imposing aura of her, but that didnât mean she was willing to get pushed around.
Kylie was stunned. In one way or another, Kathleen was still Christopherâs fiancée. If the program they were doing was a recorded broadcast, she couldnât care less if Kathleen were to complain to Christopher. However, she had no choice but to restrain herself because they were doing a live broadcast.
Hence, she uttered pitifully, âI didnât say anything offensive, did I? Why would you say that to me?â
Meanwhile, comments started flooding the chatroom.
What the f*ck? Iâve never seen a person as shameless as Kylie!
Indeed. Kylie is the one whoâs offending people here and there. How could she turn around and accuse others?
Luckily, this is a live broadcast. If they were doing a recorded broadcast, Kathleen could be said to be bullying Kylie after some editing.
I refuse to accept the rumors of Kylie being romantically linked with Steve! Sheâs neither worth it nor qualified!
âThatâs enough.â Steveâs patience was wearing thin. âCan we talk about the important matters instead?â
âSteve, I was just trying to lessen your burden.â Kylie started acting pitifully again.
However, Steve was getting sick of her.
âIf itâs a dinner, I think I have an idea,â Kathleen uttered plainly.
âReally?â Steve looked at her in bewilderment. âAre you able to get a chef to come?â
âNo.â Kathleen shook her head.
Steve fell silent sheepishly.
âI can cook, though,â Kathleen added coldly. âHowever, Iâve gone to the kitchen to look around just now. There are things I need. We need to buy them.â
âSure!â Steve looked at her and asked, âAre you sure youâre able to do it?â
âYes.â Kathleen nodded.
âYou can cook? Why didnât you say so earlier?â Kylie looked at her disdainfully.
âDid I get a chance to speak?â Kathleen replied coldly. âYou were busy ordering me around, right?â
Kylie was stunned.
Kathleen ignored Kylie and said to Steve, âI need two assistants in the kitchen.â
âIâll do it!â John exclaimed enthusiastically.
âIâll help as well. I can make soup and make your life easier,â Nancy said.
Kathleen nodded. âOkay. Letâs go to the kitchen.â
With that, Kathleen led them to the kitchen.
Steve shifted his gaze toward Kylie and ordered, âDonât just stand there. Go and set up the table.â
After Steve said that, he went to the kitchen to find the others.
Kylie stomped her feet in anger. Whatâs going on? If Kathleen knew how to cook, why did she get me to find chefs? Sheâd embarrassed me!
At that moment, they were all busy in the kitchen.
Kathleen put on an apron and looked at Steve. âPlease get someone to buy the things I need. After that, find out how many people are we cooking for, and see if any of them have allergies.â
âOh, okay!â Upon hearing that, Steve understood Kathleen knew what she was doing. âIâll go now!â
He then passed Kylie a list made by Kathleen and said, âGo and buy what we need according to this list.â
After that, he went to look for the production team.
Kylie was utterly displeased when she was looking at the list.
Why do I need to go? Why canât Kathleen go instead? Sheâs the one cooking, right? She should go and buy the ingredients herself!
Since she had cameras pointing at her, she didnât dare to show her anger.
Hence, she left with the list.
When Steve returned, he said to Kathleen, âWe have eight diners.â
âAll right.â Kathleen nodded and started to get busy.
Meanwhile, Nancy and John were assisting her by rinsing the ingredients.
As for the preparations of the ingredients and cooking, Kathleen did it on her own.
An hour later, Kathleen looked at Steve and asked, âWhere are the things I asked for?â
âIâve gotten Kylie to buy them, but sheâs not back yet.â Steve was also getting anxious because the sky had darkened.
After John went outside to take a look, he returned panting and yelling, âBad news! The mayor and his entourage have arrived!â
Everyone was taken aback.
So soon? Our dishes arenât even done yet!
