âWhy isnât Samuel picking up?â Nicolette asked angrily.
Tyson was impatient. âMs. Yoeger, are you sure you donât know why Mr. Macari wouldnât answer your calls? You caused the deaths of his two children. Did you really think heâll still talk to you after that?â
Nicolette replied angrily, âThose are just two embryos that were manually fertilized! If he wants children, Iâll be the mother of his children!â
âDo you really think that Mr. Macari would like children without considering who the mother is? He only cares about Mrs. Macariâs children. Besides, Mr. Macari doesnât want you anymore, so why would he want to have babies with you?â he said sarcastically.
âYouâre lying! I want to see Samuel!â she yelled.
Tyson asked the bodyguards to stop her. âMs. Yoeger, Mr. Macari has ordered that you are never to appear in front of Mrs. Macari for the rest of your life. Therefore, youâd better be good and stop struggling like this.â
Nicolette had a gloomy look on her face. âWhere are you sending me?â
âBased on Mr. Macariâs orders, weâll send you to a villa first. Once your body fully recovers, weâll send you out of the country. Ms. Yoeger, judging from what youâve done to Mrs. Macari, Mr. Macari is already being courteous and kind to you. So, youâd better be grateful for it,â he said coldly.
She spoke through clenched teeth. âYouâre just Samuelâs servant! How dare you speak to me this way?
Iâll get him to deal with you if you dare to stop me!â
âIâve given you a choice, but you donât appreciate it. What are you waiting for? Get her!â Tyson snorted.
Nicoletteâs expression changed. âHow dare you!â
He laughed coldly. âMs. Yoeger, itâs best if you follow us obediently.â
Before he finished his sentence, two burly men were already walking toward Nicolette.
As they approached her, she had no choice but to get in the car.
Everything was over.
Nothing else would happen anymore, or would it?
The next day, when Kathleen woke up, she realized that Samuel was lying next to her.
He was hugging her so tightly that she couldnât even move.
Suddenly, she recalled that she had fallen asleep after arguing with him.
She couldnât help but suspect that something was wrong with her body.
Is my body really so weak?
With that thought in her mind, she placed her left finger on her right wrist.
Indeed, her body was very weak.
That weakness was far more than losing blood and vitality.
Even if she took a lot of high-grade supplements, it wouldnât be easy for her body to recuperate.
It could be said that her body was completely ruined.
âWhat are you thinking about?â Samuelâs low and husky voice was heard.
She was stunned for a moment and put her hand down. âItâs nothing.â
He leaned closer to her and gently kissed her cheek. âDid you sleep well?â
She frowned. âNo. The bedâs too small. Thereâs not enough room.â
He hugged her tightly. âWell, we canât do anything about that. You can only be discharged after your bodyâs a little better.â
She pursed her lips. âDidnât you consider letting me sleep alone these few days?â
âNo. Your bodyâs too weak and cold lately. The doctor told me to keep you warm,â he replied with a domineering tone.
She frowned. âWhich quack said that?â
He glanced at her. âI did. I want you in my arms when I sleep. Canât I?â
She was speechless.
He murmured in a low voice, âShh. Be good. Iâm really doing this for your own good.â
Kathleen did not listen.
He let go of her. âIâm going to take a shower. You should sleep for a while longer.â
Kathleen ignored him as she stared at the ceiling while lying on the bed.
She couldnât understand how Samuel could behave so casually as if nothing had happened.
However, only he knew how careful he was being deep inside him.
When Samuel was showering, Kathleen was in a daze.
After he got out of the washroom, she had already fallen asleep yet again.
After putting on his clothes, he walked over to her hospital bed and leaned down to kiss her soft cheeks.
âIâll come back to have lunch with you later.â
She didnât hear him because she was sleeping soundly.
With that, he walked out of the ward and went to see the doctor.
He looked at the doctor coldly. âWhen can she be discharged?â
âMrs. Macariâs condition is stable now. However, Iâm afraid that sheâll need to wait for two more days if she wishes to be discharged,â the doctor replied.
Samuel grimaced. âThen, when can her body fully recover?â
After a short pause, the doctor said, âAt least three years. Actually, Mrs. Macari isnât only injured physically this time. Her mood and mental state are affected as well. You have to take care of these aspects together if you wish for her full recovery.â
âWhat do you mean?â Samuel asked coldly.
The doctor asked in a quiet voice, âMr. Macari, youâve heard about prenatal depression, havenât you?
Mrs. Macari had a few symptoms of prenatal depression last time. Now that she has lost her children, Iâm sure that sheâs deeply affected by it. She may look okay on the outside, but Iâm sure sheâs holding all her feelings in. Thatâs really dangerous because sheâs keeping everything bottled up. Itâs better if she can vent it all out.â
Samuel recalled Kathleenâs search entries.
Actually, if she had told him about her worries, there was no way he would have let her worry that much.
However, she carried everything on her shoulders all by herself without trusting him.
âI understand,â Samuel said indifferently.
âMr. Macari, other than modern medicine, you can also look for traditional medicine to help regulate Mrs.
Macariâs body. After her bodyâs fully recovered, she can get pregnant again after a year,â the doctor said after a few moments of hesitation.
Samuel snapped coldly, âIâm not doing this because I want her to give birth to my children.â
He truly hoped that her body can fully recover.
Even if they couldnât have children for the rest of their lives, he was okay with it.
The doctor felt extremely awkward after he realized that he had misunderstood.
Samuel glared at the doctor coldly with a hint of a warning in his eyes. âRemember not to say any nonsense in front of her, or else I wonât let you off. Iâm sure you know what happens to those who disobey me.â
The doctorâs legs trembled. âYes, Mr. Macari. Donât worry. I wonât say anything.â
With a dark expression, Samuel turned around and left for his office.
He didnât go back to the ward.
On his way to the office, Nicolette called again.
He picked up. âThis is the last time that Iâll answer your call.â
Nicolette paled. âWhy are you being like this all of a sudden? So what if she had your babies? If you wish for it, I can do that too!â
He responded icily, âI only want her to bear my children.â
She froze.
The next moment, she roared, âSamuel! What am I to you, then? After all these years of doing everything for you! What am I to you?â
His gaze darkened. âIf youâre really doing it for me, you wouldnât hurt Kathleen. You know I never wanted to hurt her.â
No matter what, he had never thought about hurting Kathleen.
He didnât want her to get hurt at all.
If Nicolette knew that, there was no way she would do what she did.
However, she still went ahead and did it.
She was more than spoiled and did not know her place.
Since she had overestimated how important she was in Samuelâs heart, she thought that she could do anything and hurt anyone just because he loved her.
Nicolette cried aggrievedly, âSamuel, I was wrong. Please donât ignore me! I love you! I really love you very much!â
