Samuel grunted.
That sensation was painful but exhilarating at the same time.
He knew Kathleen was expressing her dissatisfaction.
I didnât know about this scene. I must tell them to delete this part!
Kathleen stopped and gazed bitterly at Samuelâs face. âYouâre still unconscious, after all. They really lied to me!â
With that, she stood up, seemingly ready to seek revenge on those who deceived her.
âCut!â said Remy, who was holding a phone to shoot the scene.
Kathleen let out a sigh of relief.
Samuel opened his eyes and put his legs down.
He brushed his lips with his slender fingers and smiled faintly. âHas anyone mentioned you behave like a cat?â
âI donât know about me, but Iâm sure you are a dog,â she retorted.
Samuel chuckled. âBut I did not bite you.â
Kathleen ignored him and turned to look at Spencer and Remy.
Spencer grinned. âYour acting skills are indeed commendable. Why didnât you debut earlier, Ms.
Johnson?â
She explained, âI got married at a young age, but Iâm divorced now. This indicates that having a man would only hinder my career.â
Spencer wore a faint smile. âNot all men are like that.â
âYouâre right. A good man would never become a womanâs stumbling block. Only terrible men would think of women as their possession, prohibiting them from progressing well in life,â Kathleen replied sarcastically.
Remy regarded Samuel with a meaningful look.
The latter appeared unconcerned.
I did forbid Kathleen to become an actress in the past, and I will not deny the mistakes I made.
However, I will change from now on.
Spencer got up and stretched out his hand. âMs. Johnson, I officially welcome you to join the cast and crew of Assassin.â
Remy stood up as well. âWelcome, welcome!â
Kathleen shook hands with Spencer and Remy.
âIf thereâs nothing, I shall get going then.â Kathleen did not wish to stay there for a second longer.
âAll right. I will arrange someone to inform you of the specific filming time,â Spencer said while wearing an amused expression.
Kathleen nodded. âOkay.â
She turned around to look at Charles. âLetâs go, Charles.â
Charles nodded. Then, he glanced coldly at Samuel before leading Kathleen away.
âI donât think she recognizes me.â Remy was disappointed.
Spencer stared at him. âWell, arenât you a daredevil? When did you change the scene?â
âJust now. I did that for Samuel.â Remy smirked.
Samuel said coldly, âBut she misunderstood that I instructed you two to do that.â
âSamuel, youâre obviously unwelcome. I canât believe she hates you so much.â Remy sighed.
âNevertheless, Kathleen has become prettier. She was the campus belle in the past. So many guys had tried to win her affection but failed miserably.â
âAre you one of those guys?â Spencer eyed him.
âIâll never have the guts to do so!â Remy said sulkily, âIâm afraid Samuel would skin me alive.â
Spencer sneered.
Remy explained, âDonât get mad at me, Samuel. I was just testing Kathleenâs acting skills. Anyway, I do think that sheâs a talented actress. If you had notâ¦â
Samuelâs face darkened.
Remy fell silent immediately.
Spencer grinned. âI think you did a great job with the script. Letâs just use this scene.â
What the heck!
Remy gazed at Spencer in astonishment.
Is he crazy? Samuel will never allow that!
âWhat do you think, Mr. Macari? Spencer looked at Samuel.
âI think the investment capital can reduce to half the amount,â Samuel answered casually.
âDonât do that. Iâm just kidding,â Spencer responded in embarrassment.
âIâve told you not to utter nonsense. Iâd like to see what you will do without any money!â Remy grumbled.
Spencer kept quiet afterward.
Remy eyed Samuel. âWeâll take our leave now, Samuel. Weâll inform you of the filming time later.â
Samuel nodded indifferently.
Remy hurriedly dragged Spencer along and left.
They were afraid of infuriating Samuel, the devil.
After they were gone, Samuel licked his lips which were forcefully bitten by Kathleen earlier.
He curled his lips into a smirk.
Remy and Spencer went downstairs and met with Kathleen and the others. They waited for the elevator earlier, so both parties arrived downstairs around the same time.
âKath- Ms. Johnson!â Remy had an outgoing personality. He jogged over to greet her, âDo you remember me?â
She shook her head lightly.
He felt upset. âIâm sad! You even played a role in my screenplay previously.â
Kathleen was puzzled. âPreviously?â
âThatâs right. I remember it was an event at your school. They requested I write the script and invited me to watch the play. You were the female lead,â Remy elaborated.
She seemed to have recalled that incident. âOh, I see. I didnât realize you wrote the screenplay.
They said they would ask for a seniorâs help to come up with the script, but I didnât expect that person to be you.â
Remy felt awkward. She only remembers that Iâm her senior and completely forgotten that she met with me at the Macari residence. Nevertheless, I cannot blame her for that because we could have had plenty of chances to meet with one another, but Samuel did not allow her to come out. What a jerk!
âThose scenes earlier were truly part of the script. That has nothing to do with Mr. Macari,â he uttered while thinking about Samuel.
I can only do so much for you, Samuel.
âOkay.â Kathleen nodded indifferently. âI know now.â
She stared coldly at him. âIs there anything else?â
Remy flushed. He thought she must be feeling angry.
âThatâs all. Iâll see you during the filming then,â he said.
Kathleen nodded again. âSee you.â
With that, she turned on her heels and walked away with Charles trailing behind her.
Spencer came to a halt beside Remy and asked, âIs it true when you said that youâve never liked her?â
Remy lightly coughed and cleared his throat. âNo! Iâve never liked her.â
Spencer was unconvinced. âEnough with that pretense. I am familiar with your personality. Thereâs no way you would help your juniors write the screenplay for no reason. You usually charge one thousand for every word you write. Do you know how expensive is that? How much money could those university students have?â
Remy snorted. âWhy donât you hire somebody else instead of me if youâre so capable?â
Spencer said nothing.
Remy pursed his lips. âI did reject them by giving the excuse of not having any inspiration at that moment. Then, they showed me Kathleenâs pictures. I grew up with Samuel, so I was aware of her relationship with him. I also knew they were married then, but Iâ¦â
Spencer patted his shoulder. âI can understand your sentiment. Unrequited love is usually the hardest to let go of. Anyway, sheâs single now, so you still have a chance.â
Remy replied bitterly, âHa. Judging by the look on his face today, do you think Samuel would do nothing and let me pursue her?â
Spencer frowned. âBut I think she doesnât like him.â
He had heard of some news related to the grudges between Kathleen and Samuel.
In Spencerâs opinion, Kathleen did not seem like a lovestruck fool, so he doubted she would fall for Samuel again.
Remy elaborated, âYou donât know Samuel. If he has his eyes set on Kathleen, he will never take her by force. Iâll put it this way. He will transform into a cunning fox, putting on the façade of the type of man Kathleen admires before approaching her, gradually developing a deeper bond with her. As a result, she will become completely smitten with him.â
Spencer laughed.
âJust you wait and see. That guy from the Morris family does not stand a chance,â Remy said firmly.
âWhat if Kathleen really marries Christopher?â Spencer asked in fascination.
âIf thatâs the case, Iâll write the screenplay for you for free. What do you say?â
âDeal! Thatâs settled, then. Donât you regret what youâve said.â
âIâll admit Iâm a sore loser if I go back on my word!â After saying that, Remy swiftly texted Samuel on WhatsApp: Samuel, Iâm counting on you to get paid now!
