Inside the office, the security guard came in to chase Kylie out of the place.
Samuel stared at the lunch on the coffee table and suddenly lost his appetite.
Kylie was infuriated after she was chased out of the place.
She went to Kathleen and get to the bottom of it all.
At the time, Kathleen and the others had just finished working and were getting ready to go home.
They ran into each other in the lobby.
âKathleen Johnson, you are too evil. You got me in trouble!â growled Kylie angrily.
Kathleen calmly replied, âMe? Getting you in trouble?â
âYes! You told me to get some lunch for Samuel, but he ended up chasing me out of there. The two of you mustâve planned this together to embarrass me,â accused Kylie, who was still angry.
âHey, youâre the one who wanted to go,â said Kathleen to point out the obvious.
âThat is not true at all!â replied Kylie through gritted teeth. âI asked you if that was okay, and you said that itâd be fine. You knew that Samuel would chase me out of the place, but you let me go, anyway. That is definitely a con!â
Kathleen chuckled upon hearing those stupid thoughts. âWhat kind of logic is that? I also told you to drop dead, but youâre still here, arenât you? Besides, Iâm not the boss of Macari Group and canât do anything about what happens there, so stop making a fool of yourself.â
âHow are you not the boss?â refuted Kylie angrily as jealousy overwhelmed her. âSamuel told me the truth earlier. When the two of you got divorced, he gave you everything he had, so you are now the largest shareholder of Macari Group! Your net worth is over a hundred billion now.â
Kathleen was rendered speechless.
Steve and the others stared at Kathleen in surprise as well.
She is loaded.
âThat is not true,â replied Kathleen.
âYou can ask around if you donât believe me,â uttered Kylie who was on the verge of crying. âYouâre the bully who embarrassed me.â
âKylie, quit being so shameless already,â warned Kathleen as she glared frostily at the angry lady.
âDo you really think I canât kick you out of here? All I did was look the other way and didnât let your company put you on hold for a few years. I didnât ask the production team to chase you away either, but that doesnât mean I am incapable of punishing you.â
Kylie was stunned.
âStop being ridiculous because if you mess with me again, I will push back!â continued Kathleen mercilessly.
Kylie started trembling and sobbing.
With that, Kathleen turned to the others and said, âLetâs go.â
Everyone else nodded.
Kylie hesitated for a moment before she left with the crowd.
That afternoon, the filming was paused momentarily.
The production team had to go to a meeting and talk about whether they wanted to keep Kylie hired.
Kathleen packed her things and left soon after.
She drove all the way to Florinia Manor, but she didnât get out of the car. She simply sat there quietly.
It didnât take long before Sebastian showed up from the front door.
âMs. Johnson, please come in and sit inside,â said Sebastian politely.
Kathleen stared nonchalantly at the guy and replied, âI am waiting for Samuel.â
âHe is on his way home,â informed Sebastian. âHe learned that you are here, so heâs coming home early. Under normal circumstances, he wouldnât be here until nine or ten oâclock at night.â
Kathleen replied stoically, âThat has nothing to do with me.â
Sebastian didnât respond to that statement. âUhm, maybe you should wait inside, anyway. Mr.
Macari would insist that you enter the house after heâs home.â
Kathleen hesitated for a moment before she got out of the car and entered the house with Sebastian.
The place remained unchanged and looked exactly the same as it did when she left about a year ago.
After she reached the mansionâs front door, she paused and asked, âIs Nicolette living here?â
Sebastian was taken aback. âWhat are you talking about, Ms. Johnson? This is the home that Mr.
Macari has specially built for you and only you, so why would anyone else be here? Mr. Macari has been living on his own in this place over the past year.â
âAh, so Nicolette isnât living here,â murmured Kathleen. She didnât catch the message Sebastian was implicitly sending.
Kathleen had sent someone to investigate the matter, but she still couldnât figure out where Samuel had hidden Nicolette at.
At first, she thought that he would hide Nicolette at the least expected place.
Huh, I guess that is not the case.
Kathleen entered the place with Sebastian, then sat down in the living room.
Sebastian politely asked, âMs. Johnson, can I get you any drinks?â
âSome coffee, please,â replied Kathleen.
âUnderstood,â said Sebastian before he left to prepare everything.
He did more than just get her some coffee, though. He also prepared some of her favorite snacks.
Kathleen drank some coffee and ate a little.
It didnât take long before the sound of a car screeching came from outside the house.
Samuel hopped out of his Maybach and hurried into the mansion right away.
He showed up in the living room soon.
At the time, he was wearing a black tuxedo with a black shirt, so he looked regal but unapproachable.
Kathleen, on the other hand, was wearing a pink sweater and a pair of black jeans, making her look both sweet and stunning.
âI thought youâd only be here when it is time for dinner,â commented Samuel as he took off his coat.
He handed it to Sebastian, then walked to Kathleen before sitting down.
Kathleen had her head down the entire time.
Anxious, Samuel didnât know what to do with his legs, so he ended up crossing them. His thin lips curved into a grin as he teased, âYouâre not here for a beating, so relax.â
Kathleen took a deep breath. âI have a question for you.â
âGo ahead. I will tell you everything I know,â replied Samuel as his eyes glowed with warmth.
âYou told Kylie that you gave me everything you had. Is that true?â asked Kathleen calmly.
âYes,â answered Samuel before he nodded.
âWhy am I unaware of it?â She frowned.
âIt is written in the divorce agreement. Didnât you read it?â He smiled at her.
Kathleen bit her lip and replied, âTake it back. That is yours, and I donât want it.â
âThere is no reason for taking back the gift I have already given. Itâs yours now.â His dark eyes shone with sincerity as he looked at her.
That is not all. I am yours, too.
Samuel secretly added that sentence in his mind.
âI donât need any of that,â replied Kathleen. Still frowning, she said, âThat is nothing but a burden to me. Samuel, you should know what exactly it is I want.â
He stared calmly at her, then picked up the coffee cup on the table before sipping on it.
âThat is mine,â reminded Kathleen.
Canât he see the red lipstick mark right there? Or did he do that deliberately?
He calmly asked, âHave you eaten?â
âIâm not hungry.â She gnawed on her lip again. âYesterday, you said that you wonât make things difficult for me and will give me anything I want.â
He smiled meaningfully. âYou will have it, eventually.â
Kathleen bit her lip a little. âWhat do I have to do to get the evidence from you, Samuel?â
He put the coffee cup down and ordered, âSebastian, serve the dinner.â
âUnderstood,â replied Sebastian while nodding.
Samuel stood up and walked toward the dining room.
âIâm leaving,â grumbled Kathleen angrily.
âThe evidence I have with me is the only one in existence. There is no other way to get it,â reminded Samuel coldly. âI will never let you have it if you step out of this door now.â
Kathleen was speechless.
He stared at her thin and tiny figure. âCome have dinner with me. Iâll give it to you after we ate. I promise.â
âFine, I will believe you one more time,â answered Kathleen after she gave it a thought.
If he lies again, then I will be the idiot for falling for his tricks yet again.
She followed Samuel into the dining room and sat at the table.
Sebastian served the dishes, then led everyone out of the place.
Samuel picked up his fork and commented, âThe cooking is not as good as yours, but at least itâd fill your tummy.â
Kathleen pursed her lips. âJust be happy thereâs something for you to eat. Why are you being so picky with your food? If you donât like this chef, you can get someone who cooks the way you like it.
No oneâs stopping you.â
