He still hadn't called her, so when would he be back?
Alice closed the page in her address book and held her phone tightly in her hand. Then, she continued to throw the goods at the Shopping cart aimlessly.
"Terrible, Miss Alice!"
A man wearing a driver's uniform came over. His black suit was thoroughly soaked as he rushed over and anxiously looked at Alice, "Miss Alice, Steward Daniel was beaten up by someone in the parking lot!"
"Whap."
The item in Alice's hand fell onto the ground, and she stared at the driver blankly, then ran out while the bodyguards immediately opened a path for her, protecting her from the front and back.
The group rushed towards Underground parking lot. In the huge parking lot, there were many cars. There was not a single person nor was there a single sound.
It was eerily quiet.
"Miss Alice, please be careful."
The bodyguards walked in front and observed their surroundings. The light from the Underground parking lot was not good, suddenly, and a light bulb was turned on for them, and all the bodyguards immediately surrounded Alice.
However, the car did not intend to stop and directly sped away.
"Ugh..."
A cry of pain rang out.
Alice and the bodyguards immediately ran to the front, only to see Daniel lying in a pool of blood, his mouth full of blood, one hand pressing on his chest, his body covered with cuts by the blade, his clothes ripped, blood flowing out, and a pocket watch dropped to the side and was split into two.
"Steward Daniel!"
Alice's eyes widened in shock. She rushed towards him, not daring to touch him, and shouted loudly, "All of you come over, whoever knows some medical knowledge, and see if he can move, we'll send him to the hospital!"
"Miss Alice, only Daniel knows the medicine here."
The bodyguard said.
Alice looked at Daniel worriedly. Daniel fell to the ground and frowned, spitting out a mouthful of blood from his mouth. He said weakly, "Alice, it's alright. I'm just broken. Don't worry."
At this point, Daniel's words were still clear.
"Alright, I'll go to the hospital now."
Alice said anxiously as she reached out to wipe the blood off his face with a tissue. "Endure it. The hospital is very close by, and you will definitely be fine."
She had never seen Daniel like this before. It was extremely difficult for her as he laid there with his eyes unfocused.
"Fortunately, they didn't touch Miss Alice, that's good." Daniel said, his voice was extremely weak.
Alice looked at him in a daze, "You mean, the Cullen Family beat you up?"
The bodyguard at the side helped to stabilize Daniel's legs. Daniel laid on the ground and looked at her, laughed bitterly, then said with difficulty, "I came from Cullen Family, so it isn't strange for me to do such a thing for Young Master. It isn't strange at all."
The bodyguards carefully lifted Daniel up and carried him to the carriage.
Alice stood there, staring at the bloodstains on the ground, her back turning cold.
Because he wanted to take her away to get engaged to William, so he beat Daniel up like this?
How could he?
This storm had finally come, but she hadn't thought that it would start from Daniel.
Perhaps there would be a day when Master Cullen compromised with William. However, he still had to vent this anger, and she didn't dare imagine how many people would be hurt next.
"Come here." Alice stopped a bodyguard and looked at him with a pale face, "Find someone to protect Anna and his husband, quickly! "You have to be fast!"
She did not think that even Daniel would be beaten up.
"Yes, Miss Alice, I will arrange it immediately."
Alice looked down at the blood stains on the ground, and retreated. She bent down and picked up the pocket watch, which was broken into two pieces.
All of these should have been borne by her alone, but in the end, after a engagement ceremony, not only William, but even the people around her were bearing it for her.
Alice stood there, her hand holding his pocket watch trembling.
William didn't use the ward he had reserved, and he was first going to meet him.
Daniel's injuries were severe, his legs were fractured and his ribs were fractured. His body had a total of more than 20 stitches on it, making anyone who saw it and feel weak.
In the hospital, Alice sat on a chair beside the sickbed and looked at Daniel who was lying on the ground.
"Miss Alice, why don't we send you back?"
The two bodyguards walked in and said.
"I want to stay behind to take care of Steward Daniel." Suddenly, she remembered something and asked anxiously, "Did you send someone to protect my friends?"
"They're already being protected. The couple are temporarily safe." The bodyguard said.
"That's good, you guys too. Don't leave alone in the future, and you have to leave together with a group of people, do you understand?" Alice warned.
"Thank you for your concern Miss Alice, we will."
The bodyguards looked at her gratefully and nodded.
Alice sat on the chair, her fingers tightly holding onto her chest, breathing unsteadily.
William, why aren't you back yet?
She missed him.
She wanted to see him right away.
"Miss Alice, Mr. Cullen has arrived."
Hearing that, Alice immediately stood up from the bed, and rushed out without caring about anything else. In the hallway, William was walking towards her step by step, his figure tall, his steps handsome and graceful, as he looked deeply into her eyes.
"William!"
Alice shouted and threw herself into his embrace.
William was unable to stand steadily due to her pounce and was forced back a few steps. He panicked and looked at her blankly, not daring to move forward as he retreated a few steps, "You're injured."
It was dark and raining, and the light in the corridor was even worse. William stood there and stabilized his mind, he extended his hand and loosened his tie, then spoke with a deep and magnetic voice, "I don't have anything else, how can I be injured that easily?"
Alice turned and ran.
"Why are you running!"
William's gaze trembled, and he strode forward in large steps to catch up with her footsteps, chasing after her until he reached the ward's door.
The light in the ward was on, bright.
Alice suddenly turned around and looked at William, only to see that there were faint finger marks on the left side of his face, and his clothes were in a mess. When her hand touched his chest, William frowned and grabbed her hand, and said as if nothing had happened, "He likes to beat people up, I am already used to it.
Alice pulled her hand away and unbuttoned his shirt forcefully. A mark was carved on his chest, as if it was a hard shell book.
Her slender fingers trembled violently.
She knew that once they were together, he would bear the burden for her.
She knew, but there was nothing she could do.
"Go to check."
Alice's voice trembled, her other hand still holding onto his chest.
'Tm fine, what's there to check?" William said in disdain as he reached out to button his shirt.
"Go to check! Right now!"
Alice screamed at the top of her lungs, staring at him with a pair of red eyes.
This shout stunned the few bodyguards at the door, they looked at Alice in shock. They had never seen Alice losing her temper before, such a soft and weak female voice actually with such explosive power.
William stood in front of her, frozen in place as he buttoned his shirt. His black eyes stared at her, trembling for a while before he weakly replied, "I'll check if it's alright. Why are you making such a loud noise?"
The bodyguards' eyeglasses were all shattered, Mr. Cullen did not get angry even after being shouted at?
Alice stood there, his head aching so much that it felt like it was about to split. Her eyes were sore, "Hurry up and check it, hurry up!"
"Oh, got it."
William turned around and left obediently.
Alice squatted on the ground, and her hands tightly wrapped around herself. She lowered her head and leaned against her knees, her body trembling violently. She was most afraid of this day, but it had still come. William's injuries were much lighter than Daniel's. As long as one was careful not to use too much force, it was fine, unlike Daniel, who was completely beaten to death.
On the carriage, Alice looked at the pocket watch that was stained with blood in her hands, and was pulled into William's embrace. William glared at her with his deep black eyes, and spoke each word forcefully and coldly, "You are not allowed to regret, you are not allowed to think that you've done anything wrong!"
"How do you know what I'm thinking?"
Alice stared at the pocket watch in her hand and said.
Look at you, it's written all over your face: I shouldn't have let William get injured, I shouldn't have let Daniel get injured, it's all my fault, it's all my fault. William said coldly.
"I don't feel that it was wrong, but I can't deny that it was all because of me that you were injured."
Alice said softly, her hand gripping her pocket watch tightly.
"This is only temporary. Once Father's anger is over, then he can compromise anything."
William said coldly.
"But how long will this take?" Alice's tone was filled with confusion, "If just because we were together but we caused Steward Daniel to lose his life, or perhaps it was even more, so wouldn't it mean that we carry too much of a burden?"
"I don't care! I want you!"
William said resolutely. He wanted to be with her regardless of the consequences.
Alice wasn't as stubborn to the point of disregarding everything. A period of affection should be pure and simple, yet she had pressed so many things on top of it.
The driver parked the car in the parking line.
Alice raised her eyes and looked outside from William's embrace.
The bodyguards got out of the car first and opened their umbrellas.
Alice and William got off the car and walked into the shop. It was raining heavily and the shop was extremely quiet.
"Please take a look and see if you can fix it."
Alice passed the pocket watch to the boss.
Inside the quaint shop, the shop owner was wearing a long robe as he picked up his pocket watch and studied it while sizing it up.
When he recognized them, he couldn't help but be shocked, sucking in a breath of cold air, "Cultivators can fix it, but this ancient watch is so bad that it's more expensive to fix than to buy a new one."
"I think it's better to repair."
She saw that Daniel had been wearing this pocket watch the whole time. He must have really liked it, but new ones might not be as good as he liked.
