Is it still possible for me to dodge this question? Should I pretend to be deaf? Is it too late for me to pretend that I have class now? Where is the bell when I need it? God, I miss high school bell...
âDonât try to avoid the question.â His voice snapped me out to reality. I didnât even need to fake my expression as I was sure I put on a stoic expression on my face. Whatever reaction he caught in my eyes âand I was sure he could see my eyes wavering slightly as he was blessed with those incredibly amazing sharp eyesâ I wouldnât deny it.
I had no reason to do so.
So be it, if he wanted to know about Tom. But, I would be passive, just answering his questions. I wouldnât say anything unless he asked it.
âSo, what did she mean? Is there any boys in your dormitory?â Sanji asked. His eyes peered through my eyes, trying to figure out what I was thinking, probably.
âYes.â I replied. âAnd no.â I added.
He frowned. âA ghost?â He asked. I was not surprised he would think so. After all, we had one thing in common; sixth sense.
.....
I shrugged my shoulders. Tom was not particularly a ghost, though.
âBut, I didnât see anything attached to you.â His frown deepened.
Thatâs new, but I guess I was right about Tom was not an ordinary ghost.
âIs he bothering you?â
I shook my head.
âThen why did she mention about him? Do you have any relationship with this particular ghost?â
His eyes were looking straight at me, probably wondering the answer himself by searching for it in my eyes. âI donât know.â I shrugged again.
âJane, you know you can tell me anything, right? Donât hide anything for me. What if it becomes bigger and endangers yourself? I prefer you to tell me anything. Especially since your sixth sense has not been fully opened.â Sanji softened his voice, trying to persuade me.
I held back the urge to roll my eyes. Whatâs wrong with him now? I had never thought we were that close for me to talk about anything to him. Not even because my sixth sense had not fully awakened. He might want to keep me safe, but I wouldnât let him do anything for now. He didnât need to know more about Tom.
âSure.â I nodded, showing a small smile to him.
Sanji smiled back at me. His smile was so calm and tender, but somehow I had a feeling that he still hid something behind his smile.
âSo, when will you treat me to a dinner?â He grinned and again, I felt the invisible flying daggers were thrown towards me.
âIâll let you know when the time comes.â I smiled. Could those girls summon up their courage and face Sanji directly instead of directing their anger to me?
âI know it is annoying, but bear with it.â He said in a low tone. His grin was still plastering on his handsome face. I needed one second to understand what he meant by that.
His grin turned into a soft smile. âThey can be annoying, which is why I still havenât had a girlfriend until now. Of course, part of it because Iâve already engaged to you, but the thought of having a girlfriend did cross my mind for several times. I hope you donât mind.â He added the last sentence quickly.
âI donât mind at all. I mean, I didnât even know Iâm already engaged.â I shrugged my shoulders.
âWell, even though it crossed my mind for several times, I havenât had a chance to do it. Mostly because these girls put a scary standard on who should I date. Not that I must follow their condition, but they managed to scare the girl I was close with so far.â Sanji let out a bitter laugh.
I was amazed seeing him so calm even though he felt sad with the outcome. He couldnât sue them for scaring his potential future wife, but he also couldnât do as they liked.
âDonât you feel angry?â I asked. âYou know, you could pursue the girl and protect the girl from your fans, you know? What if they did something harmful to the girl?â
âWell, thatâs the point. I had no idea how they managed to scare those women. They didnât harm them, not even a bit. But, the next thing I know, the woman whom I was dating had avoided me like I was some kind of disease. I couldnât even sue them for harming people. Thatâs why Iâve been thinking, since they wanted to avoid me, then so be it. Thereâs no point for me to keep chasing after them. I donât want to waste my time to convince the woman to stay with me. If she doesnât have the guts to stay with me, I wonât waste my time either.â Sanji explained. There was bitterness in his voice, but his voice laced with determination at his last sentence.
âBut again, maybe it was the way my destiny is. I couldnât find any woman since I have been engaged to you. So, I donât really feel lost. After all, I still have you as my fiancee, right?â He shot me his beaming smile and for a second, I felt like I was blinded by him.
How could you be so good-looking, Sanji?!
Tom, Iâm sorry for admiring another man...
