"Party on Fish Freak"
(3x02)
ð¬ððð»ââï¸ðð ðð
"What?" Stiles snapped looking to Scott's sad face as the group walked to Stiles friend's house. Apparently the boy had gotten invited to an old kindergarten mates birthday party and dragged the two with him. Melody didn't mind though, happy for the distraction.
Scott's head turned to Stiles looking confused. "What, what do you mean, "what"?"
"I mean "what," and you know what."
Scott shook his head. ""What" what?"
Stiles raised his brows at his best friend. "That look you were giving."
"I didn't give a look." Scott retorted.
"Oh, there was a distinct look, Scott." Stiles dragged out looking at him pointedly making her snort.
"What look?" Scott exclaimed.
"The look that says that the last thing you feel like doing right now is going to a party."
Scott shook his head. "It's not that. It just seems weird going to a different high school's party."
"It's not. It's called fun." Melody smirked making Scott look to her. "I thought you hated parties."
"Still do but it sure is a good way to forget your issues." She shrugged.
Stiles looked like he was gonna pull his new grown hair out looking between the pair. "What? Would you... " he groans. " God, one drink, all right? You'll be fine. I went to nursery school with this girl, okay? She promised to introduce us to all of her friends. So tonight, no Allison, no Lydia and no Issac. Tonight, we're moving on."
"There's no me and Issac." Melody retorted.
Scott nodded at Stiles. "You're right."
Stiles smiled clapping him on the back and looking to Melody. "That's right I'm right."
"Hells yes." Melody grinned.
Scott nodded. "Moving on."
"Onward and upward." Stiles smiled stopping suddenly to look at the pair.
"Let's do this." Melody smiled.
Stiles gleamed. "That's what I'm talking about. Now look at me."
Scott pursed his lips. "Okay."
"How's my breath smell?" Scott asked looking at Stiles.
Stiles shook his head. "I'm not smelling your breath."
Scott looked to Melody who raised a brow holding up her hand to stop him from leaning in. "No way."
Scott frowned. "Do either of you have any gum?"
Stiles shook his head pushing him forward with Melody following. "No. No gum. You're fine."
"Can you at least tell me what kind of party this is?" Scott groaned as they entered and suddenly a perky girl turned to them with too wide of a smile.
"Stiles! Hi." The girl went to hug him as stiles smiled.
"Hey. There's the birthday gir..." Stiles was cut off when her lips touched his in a long kiss startling the man and his two friends. Melody turned checking to see was Scott's face was like, maybe she missed something major over the summer but no, his mirrored hers in shock.
"So glad that you made it." The girl grinned and Stiles stumbled a response. "Me too."
The girl took his hand. "Come downstairs with me and help me pick out a bottle of wine."
"Yes." Stiles nodded in shock letting her take him away.
"Did I miss something?" Melody asked double checking as they watched him walk away.
Scott turned to her. "No. I have no idea what that was." He started to chuckle making her laugh at the random girl.
"So weird but uh- go Stiles." She grinned cheering her friend on.
"So you okay?" Scott turned to the girl after she finally stopped giggling making her frown at him.
"Uh-yeah?"
"I meant you seemed a bit shaken last night." Scott sighed referring to the ride home after seeing Issac.
"You can tell me, it'll stay between us. I won't tell Stiles even."
"He- made me feel like a freak before I left. Reminded me why I planned on leaving. Mermaids don't belong on land Scott."
"You're not a freak, Melody." Scott said looking her in the eyes softly.
"He clearly thinks that." She diverted her eyes.
"That's not the Issac I know."
"Maybe you don't know him as well as you think." She shrugged.
Just as Scott was about to reply his phone started to ring with Allison Argents name blaring across the screen.
â¸â¸â¸
Melody was standing on the lawn with her arms crossed as Allison parked getting out with Lydia.
"This isn't the talk we were gonna have, is it?" Scott frowned looking between her and Lydia. Melody was slightly glaring at the Argent making her shift on her feet.
Allison turned to Scott sighing. "I need to show you something."
Allison and Lydia pulled up their sleeves showing markings on their wrists.
"I don't see anything."
"It's the same on both sides." Allison responded hastily.
"Pareidolia. Seeing patterns that aren't there." Melody sighed shaking her head at Scott who turned to her.
"It could be something. Derek might know."
"All Derek will do is get pissed off." Melody retorted shaking her head at him.
"We should try."
"Remember I warned ya." She shrugged at Scott.
â¸â¸â¸
Melody was currently sitting on a desk beside Stiles kicking her Mary Jane's back and forth as Derek visibly tensed at Allison and Lydia's presence.
Scott hadn't listened to her and called the alpha to school to see the marks.
"I don't see anything." Derek sighed forcing down a growl.
"Look again." Scott nodded back.
"How is a bruise gonna tell me where Boyd and Erica are?"
"It's the same on both sides. Exactly the same."
"It's nothing" Derek deadpanned clearly agitated.
"Pareidolia. Seeing patterns that aren't there. It's a subset of apophenia." Melody repeated her information from last night again getting a glare from the girls.
"They're trying to help." Melody stifled a scoff at Scott's statement knowing it was gonna tick the wolf off.
"These two." He pointed to Lydia. "This one and her twin. Used me and Melody to resurrect my psychotic Uncle, almost killing her in the process. Thank you." He snarled. "And this one." He pointed to Allison. "-who shot about 30 arrows into me and my pack."
"And helped torture them, then almost killed you." She added getting a look from Scott.
Stiles took the initiative to step in. "Okay, all right, now, come on. No one died, all right? Look, there may have been a little maiming, okay, a little mangling, but no death. That's what I call an important distinction."
"My mother died." Allison announced making Derek's jaw tighten.
"Your family's little honor code killed your mother. Not me."
"That girl was looking for Scott. I'm here to help him, not you." Allison snapped.
"You wanna help? Find something real." Her told her walking away making Melody get up.
"Derek... Give her a chance. Okay, they're on our side now." Scott said following.
"Scott, you can't just expect everyone to forgive what Allison did. She hurt a lot of people that didn't deserve it and it wasn't the first time either." Melody sighed at her friend.
"Maybe you should tell her what her mother was actually trying to do that night." Derek added in anger before walking by away.
â¸â¸â¸
Stiles, Scott and Melody were now walking across the campus on their way to coaches class as they spit balled ideas.
Melody could tell Scott was a little frustrated at her still hating Allison but, she brushed it off. In her opinion Scott was being way too forgiving to the girl.
"Okay, what would a pack of alphas want with Erica and Boyd?" Stiles questioned the pair looking at Melody she raised her hands.
"Hey that's wolf business, don't ask the fish."
"I'm not sure it's them they want." Scott shrugged.
"Okay, what, like Derek? Like they're recruiting?" Stiles asked when Scott stopped staring at the twins as they walked by.
"Scott? What's wrong?" Mel frowned.
"Hey, guys. You coming?" Stiles stopped walking looking at them.
"Yeah, we are." Mel grabbed Scott pushing him forward to class making Stiles chuckle at her antics.
â¸â¸â¸
Melody flinched as Coach threw down an introduction to business textbook on the desk upfront.
"The stock market is based on two principles. What are they?" Scott shot his hand up from where he sat on the opposite side of Stiles.
"Yes, McCall, you can go to the bathroom. Anybody else?" Coach dismissed the boy making him stutter.
"Uh, no, coach, I know the answer."
Coach burst out laughing thinking Scott was making a joke but stopped at his face. "Oh, you're serious."
"Yes. Risk and reward."
Coach grinned walking to Scott. "Wow! Who are you? And what have you done to McCall?" He cheer suddenly stopping himself again. "Don't answer that. I like you better. I like you better."
"Does anybody have a quarter? A quarter." He asked the class and Stiles grinned tapping the table before reaching into his pants.
"Yep." Stiles muttered but instead of tossing a quarter a XXL condom package flew out of his pocket in front of the entire class making her burst out laughing.
Coach walked over picking up the condom handing it back to Stiles while everyone but Melody was silent. "Stilinski, I think you, uh... You dropped this. And congratulations." Stiles took it from coach before shooting Mel a look to shut up making her slap a hand over her mouth.
"Risk and reward. Put the quarter in the mug, win the reward. Okay, watch coach." He held up the quarter and the mug before looking at the class.
"That's how you do it." He exclaims after hitting the quarter in the cup. "Okay. Danny. Risk, reward."
"What's the reward?"
"You don't have to take the pop quiz tomorrow." Coach told Danny and the class making Mel furrow her brows, did coach not know what made a pop quiz a pop quiz?
Danny was startled and went to question him. "Coach, it's not a pop quiz if you tell us about it. That's what makes it a pop quiz."
"Danny, you know, I really expect more from you at this point. Really." Coach clicked his tongue unimpressed Danny questioned him.
"McCall. Risk, reward. The risk: If you don't put that quarter in the mug, you have to take the pop... the... the quiz. And... and you have to write an essay." Coach stuttered as Danny eyed him.
"Risk, more work. Reward... No work at all. Or choose not to play."
Melody frowned. "But isn't that just chance? Where's the risk?"
Coach sighed looking to her. "No. You know your abilities, your coordination, your focus, past experience... all factors affecting the outcome."
He turned back to McCall."So what's it gonna be, McCall? More work, no work, or choose not to play?"
Scott shook his head placing the quarter coach gave him down. "No play."
Coach sighed picking it up. "Okay. Who's next? Who wants the quarter?" Stiles grinned clapping his desk as Coach grinned back. Melody couldn't help but shake her head, she had a feeling this wasn't gonna go well.
"There ya go! There's a gamblin' man! Come on! Step up, step up. All right, Stilinski." Melody giggled watching Stiles basically skip up there getting ready to throw the quarter missing the door open to reveal his dad.
"Stiles." The sheriff called his son but Stiles thought it was Coach. "Yeah, coach, I got it."
"Stiles." he called again making his head snap up confused to see his dad before walking out of class.
Scott glanced to Melody who shrugged not knowing what was going on making them listen in.
"I couldn't find her. I just figured she'd hooked up with her other friends. Has no one really seen her since last night?"
"No. We put out an A.P.B., but, Stiles, all her friends say you were the last person who saw her."
"Me?" Melody could hear the obvious confusion in his voice.
"We hope that it's just a series of bad decisions based on too much to drink. But if you remember anything else, you call me. All right?"
"I will." Stiles replied and Melody could hear how sad her friend was as his steps slowly made their way back in as class ended.
â¸â¸â¸
Melody, Scott and Stiles walked down the hallway after school heading towards the parking lot.
"So you think they kidnapped Heather to turn her?" Scott asked Stiles who gripped onto his backpack straps for dear life worrying about his childhood friend.
"Derek says it's easier to turn teenagers." Scott nodded making Melody frown.
"What would a pack of alphas need with a beta? Isn't the whole point of that pack that there aren't any betas?"
"Guys, I don't know. I don't care. All right? This girl... Our moms were best friends before mine d*ed, all right? We used to take frickin' bubble baths together when we were three. I gotta find her." Stiles snapped obviously stressed.
"Then we need Isaac to remember." Scott sighs.
"How? Peter and Derek couldn't do it. You know any other werewolves with a better trick?" Stiles questioned.
"Maybe not a werewolf. But someone who knows a lot about 'em." Scott eyed Stiles as Melody furrowed her brows in confusion. "Who?"
"My boss."
"A vet?" Melody blinked.
"He knows a lot about this stuff."
"Sounds riveting...have fun." Melody sighed not wanting to see a particular wolf and making her way to turn around.
"Nope, you're coming." Scott grabbed her hand stopping her from walking away making her groan.
"But you don't need me!" She all but stomped her foot.
"We need you." Stiles shook his head grabbing her shoulder.
"I'm regretting making friends." She muttered as Scott walked with her to her Jeep Stiles saying he'd follow.
"You love us." Stiles yelled as he got into his Jeep.
"Doesn't mean you're not annoying." She yelled back.
â¸â¸â¸
"Can you stop frowning, you're gonna get wrinkles." Stiles sighed as they walked into the back room to meet Deaton and the others.
"No." Melody pouted with her arms crossed, she was still very much annoyed at the Hale and his beta not wanting to see them.
"Melody, nice to see you while you're conscious." A tall darker skinned man stepped into the room wearing a vet coat.
"Sorry?" She furrowed her brows looking at Scott who shrugged not understanding how he knew her.
"Deaton helped us after Peter used us to revive himself." Derek said walking into the room with a bag of ice on each shoulder with Issac behind also carrying ice.
Melody's eyes snapped to them, her heart jumping at the blue eyed boy before clicking her jaw and looking back to the vet.
"Oh- thank you."
"You look so much like your mother." He smiled making her heart drop to her stomach
"Y-you met my mother?" She whispered stuttering.
"Your father brought your mother to me when she was pregnant with you. Nerissa is truly extraordinary, I was very lucky to have met her while she stayed on land." Melody's heart grew heavy at the sound of her mother name.
"She was." Melody slowly nodded tears starting to shimmer in her eyes making her move to the side. It wasn't like she was exactly helpful with water involved anyway.
Issac heart hurt for the girl wishing to go comfort her but knew she was still upset about how he treated her before she left, rightly so, he needed to fix it.
Slowly the large metal trough was brought in and filled as Melody watched the boys work.
"I feel kinda useless." Melody muttered while Deaton walked to her side.
"You're not useless Melody. Plus it seems like they didn't bring enough ice for our project, so you're up."
"Wait seriously?" Melody's head snapped to him with wide eyes.
"Yes. His heart needs to be very slow, so colder." Deaton sighed nodding for her to get up before walking to talk to Issac.
"Obviously, it's not going to be particularly... Comfortable. But if we can slow your heart rate down enough, you'll slip into a trance-like state."
Melody walked up as the boys finished throwing in ice raising her hand to freeze the water making the temperature drop.
"Like being hypnotized." Issac walked up to the tub as Melody stopped.
"Exactly. You'll be half transformed. It'll let us access your subconscious mind." Issac crouched down folding his hands over the tub as Scott questioned the man.
"How slow does his heart rate need to be?"
"Very slow.
"Okay, well, how slow is very slow?" Derek asked leaning over to rest his hands on the tub.
"Nearly dead." The vet deadpanned making Melody's eyes widen. Isaac touched the water immediately hissing pulling his hand away at the freezing temperature.
"Bedside manners just aren't your thing hey?" She scoffed looking at the man widely.
"It's safe, though, right?" Issac asked looking up to the vet.
"Do you want me to answer honestly?" The vet looked at Issac.
"No. No, not really." Issac pursed his lips folding his hands over the tub before his eyes flicked up to Mel.
"This is a stupid idea." Melody sighed not knowing the wolf was looking at her. Suddenly a snapping sound was heard making them all look over to Stiles who was playing with a rubber glove that reached up his arm.
"What?"
Derek flicked his brows up at the boy as Melody sighed shaking her head while she walked over to her friend.
"Not the time Stiles, really not the time." She muttered pulling the glove off a sad Stiles.
Derek looked back to his beta as Melody leaned against the back counter. "Look, if it feels too risky, you don't have to do this."
Everyone nodded but Issac answered by taking his shirt off making Melody blush looking away. She might be pissed at the boy but holy moly he was ripped.
Stiles walked towards the front of the tub as Issac stepped in and she followed but jumped away when Issac launched out of the water spraying it everywhere. Melody just missed getting soaked.
"Get him back under. Hold him." Deaton ordered.
"We're trying!" Derek yelled as Issac fought like hell to stay above water. The sight making her queasy. Water was always her comfort place she never thought of it being dangerous or harming, not quite like this.
Isaac's eyes shoot open, glowing yellow, and they all give him one last push. He finally goes under, his body relaxing as he floats to the top.
They all loosen their grip but stay where they are, just in case. Deaton nods, whispering to the others.
"Now remember, only I talk to him. Too many voices will confuse him and draw him out," They all nod as Deaton leans in, speaking loudly and clearly. "Isaac? Can you hear me?"
"Yeah, I hear you," Isaac answers, shivering in the water as his lips turn slightly blue. His closed eyes are moving as if he's dreaming.
"This is Dr. Deaton. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Is that alright?"
"Yes, it's all right."
"I want to ask you about the night you found Erica and Boyd. I want you to remember it for me in as vivid detail as possible. Like you were actually there again," Isaac begins to shake his head, moving slightly in the water.
"No, no I don't wanna do that-" He tenses up, moving slightly out of the water. Derek and Scott reach down and gently push him back in but he struggles. Melody holds herself bitting her lip hard at the sight.
"It's all right, Isaac. They're just memories. You can't be hurt by a memory," Deaton says gently and Isaac seems to relax by the statement. Melody knits her eyebrows together, frowning slightly, not wanting to watch anymore.
"So let's go back to that night. To the place, you found Erica and Boyd. Can you tell me what you see? Is it some kind of building? A house?" Isaac shakes his head slightly as if he's remembering it.
"Not a house. The walls are stone. Like marble."
"That's perfect. Can you give me any other descriptors?"
"It's dusty. Empty."
"Like an abandoned building? Isaac?" Isaac begins to panic again, looking around with his eyes still closed. Melody glances up at Derek who flicks his eyes down a silent message making her turn her gaze back to Isaac.
Reluctantly, Melody walking to the tub careful of the water before crouching down.
"Isaac, relax, your completely safe. " Melody says softly, leaning down.
"They're here--they're coming," Isaac's breath quickens as his eyes begin to move faster.
"They can't hurt you. It's just a memory. Your memories can't hurt you," Still breathing hard Issac struggles, but his head tilts towards her. "They can't hurt you. Just relax."
Finally, he visibly relaxes before taking a deep breath.
"Good. Now tell us what you see. Tell us everything." Deaton told him.
Isaac's eyes open, staring at the ceiling while he focuses on the memory.
"I hear him. He's talking about the full moon. About being out of control when the moon rises."
"Is he talking to Erica?" Deaton asks and Isaac shakes his head slightly.
"I think. I can't see her. I can't see either of them."
"What else is he saying?" Stiles asks from the other end of the tub. Deaton turns to him, placing a finger to his lips to quiet him.
"Can you hear anything else?"
"They're worried about what they'll do. During the moon. Worried they'll hurt each other," Derek and Scott exchange a glance before turning to Deaton.
"If they're locked in together on the full moon they're going to tear each other apart," Derek whispers, careful not to confuse Isaac.
"Isaac, we need to know where they are. Can you see them?"
"No."
"Do you know what kind of room it is? Is there any kind of marker? A number on a door? A sign?"
Isaac suddenly grips the side of the tub near Melody, drawing in a sharp breath.
"They're here," He says, barely in a whisper.
"It's alright just tell us-"
"No, no they see me. They see me."
"This isn't working," Derek looks to Deaton and then leans forward. "Isaac, where are you?"
"You're going to confuse him-"
"Isaac! What do you see?"
"Derek stop!" Melody looks at him but Derek keeps his focus on Isaac.
"They're coming- they found me- No!" Isaac shouts, terrified.
"Just tell us where you are," Derek says, still leaning over him.
"No, I- I can't it's too dark," Isaac begins to panic, struggling and sloshing water everywhere making her yelp and jump back missing being hit.
"Where are you?" Ice spills onto the floor as they all struggle to hold him still.
"His heart rate--he could go into shock."
"Derek, let him go! Stop!" Melody tried to pull him off but he shakes her off pushing her too harshly making her hit the table.
"Gods." She yelps holding her hip from the sharp pain.
"Where are you? What did you see?" Derek shouts, voice booming over Isaac.
"A vault--it's a vault--a bank vault!" Isaac shoots up, looking between all of them. "I know where they are. I saw it. I saw the name."
Derek and Scott help him out of the tub, making sure he steadies himself.
"I saw the name. It's, uh, B-Beacon Hills First National Bank. It's, um... it's an abandoned bank, and they're keeping them locked inside, inside the vault." But his exclamation wasn't drawing them in as happily as he thought. He looks around confused as they looked upset and Melody looked like she was going to be sick.
'What?"
"You don't remember what you said right before you came out of it, do you?" Stiles asked him.
Issac shook his head uneasily, "No..."
"You said when they captured you, that they dragged you into a room, and that there was a body in it."
The werewolf in question furrowed his eyebrow confusedly, "What body?"
Melody awoke from the trance as well and answered faintly, "Erica. You said it was Erica." She groggily spoke up, making Issac turn to her shocked.
"Here." Melody reached behind her handing Issac a big towel careful not to touch his wet skin.
"Thank you." Issac's blue eyes shined making her quickly look away.
After getting Issac warmed up they contemplated what to do with the information.
"She's not dead." Derek was in denial about Erica, his guilt not allowing him to process that piece of information.
"Derek, he said, "There's a dead body. It's Erica." Doesn't exactly leave us room for interpretation." Stiles reminded.
Derek turned to look at the boy, "Then who was in the vault with Boyd?" He retorted. The werewolf in question furrowed his eyebrow
"Someone else, obviously." Stiles said.
"And maybe it was the girl on the motorcycle, okay?" Scott remembered turning to Issac, "The one who saved you?"
"No, she wasn't like us... And whoever was in the vault with Boyd was." Isaac told him.
"What are they doing with them in there? What does an alpha pack need with betas?"Â Mel shook her head and Stiles turned to her.
"What if that's how Erica died? They, like, pit them against each other during the full moons and see which one survives? It's like Werewolf Thunderdome." Stiles thought aloud.
Derek rolled his eyes at Stiles briefly but took it into consideration, "Then we get them out tonight." He stated having his arms crossed over one another.
"Be smart about this, Derek. You can't just go storming in." Deaton advised him.
"If Isaac got in, then so can we."
"But he didn't get through a vault door, did he?"
Scott agreed with the two, "We need a plan."
"You will just end up dead if you rush in there Derek." Melody told the wolf who still hadn't apologized for pushing her.
"How are we gonna come up with a plan to break into a bank vault in less than twenty-four hours?" Derek questioned the younger werewolf.
"Uh, I think someone already did..." Stiles said looking up from his phone, Beacon Hills First National Bank closes its doors three months after vault robbery. Doesn't say here how it was robbed. but it probably won't take long to find out." Stiles zoomed in on his screen with his fingers and Melody hoisted herself up onto the counter behind him, Isaac following suit to see.
"How long?" Derek folded his arm and Stiles looked at him with an amused smile.
"It's the internet, Derek," Stiles chuckled but when Derek didn't budge he rolled his eyes.
"Like minutes."
"Great, you two get on that, we'll all regroup later," Derek says, gesturing to Scott and Stiles before getting up to leave.
Melody sighed at the boys saying a brief goodbye before following the others outside.
"Derek." Melody called out walking towards the man that was standing beside his car, avoiding the stare of Issac as she crossed her arms.
"You need to think about this."
"About what? They're my responsibility."
"I know, I get that, but pulling two- three, teenage boys into this with the alphas isn't a good idea. Some
You need more than them, and as much as I hate to tell you this, you need Peter. Get him to help, bribe him or blackmail him or threaten him I don't care."
Derek's brows shot up at the young girl making her frown back at him as he tilted his head. "You hate Peter."
"Even better reason for him to help, he can be the distraction." She shrugged shocking the wolfs.
"I'm sorry for pushing you."
"Good, cuz that hurt and next time don't be an idiot."
"Noted."
"On that note I'm going home, good night."
â¸â¸â¸
"Did you guys find anything?" Melody asks joining the two as they stood in the parking lot beside their jeeps.
"Ten hours and nothing."
"We're gonna find something." Scott reassured Stiles.
"We still have time." Scott assured him again.
"Uh, -not if it doesn't work."
"What's the plan?" Melody sighs looking to Scott.
"We meet at Derek's at 5:00 to go over the plan, and then we don't get started until dark."
Stiles sighs putting his backpack on. " 'Kay. What do we do till then?"
"Well, We've got English." Melody chuckles walking into the school with the group following.
â¸â¸â¸
"Okay, see this? This is how they got in. A rooftop air conditioning vent. It leads down inside the wall of the vault which is here..." Stiles trails off, circling a space on the paper with a red marker. "One of the robbers was lowered down into this shaft. The space is so small, with so little room to move, it took him twelve hours to drill through the stone wall into the vault. Then, over the entire night, they siphoned all of the cash up through that one little shaft in the wall to the guys on the roof."
"Can we fit in there?" Scott turns to him and Stiles inhales sharply.
"Barely. And they patched the wall. So I'm thinking the kind of drill we need is a diamond bit--"
"Forget the drill, if I go in first how much space will I have?" Derek interrupts him. Stiles rolls his eyes and turns to him.
"What do you think you're going to do? Punch through the wall?" Stiles asks, eyebrows raised.
"Yes. I'm going to punch through the wall."
"Oh really, tough guy? Make a fist," Stiles gestures and Derek rolls his eyes, complying.
Stiles puts one hand on Derek's elbow and the other in front of his fist. "See this? That's maybe three inches of room to gather enough force to punch through solid--"
Derek stops him, shoving his fist into Stiles' palm. Melody bites back a grin as Peter and Scott both snicker.
"Mother of God," Stiles shakes his hand and almost doubles over in pain. "He can do it!"
"I'll get through the wall. Who's following me down?" Derek turns to Peter first, who shakes his head.
"Don't look at me.I'm not up to fighting speed yet, and honestly, with Isaac out of commission, you're not looking at very good odds for yourself."
"This is the whole reason your even here Peter." Melody sighs making Peter glare at her.
"So I'm supposed to just let them die?" Derek questioned with a shrug.
"One of them is already dead." Peter mentions, recalling what he heard about Isaac seeing a dead body in his memories. "We don't know that." Derek snaps not wanting to think of the possibility of Erica being dead.
"Do I have to remind you what we're up against here?" Peter says looking between them. "A pack of Alphas. All of them killers and if that's not enough to scare your testicles back into your stomach, try to remember that two of them combine bodies or form one giant alpha."
Melody winced to Derek knowing that Peter had a point. "I'm sure Erica and Boyd were sweet kids. They're gonna be missed." Peter says looking out the window.
"Could someone kill him again, please?"
Peter turned back to Stiles upon hearing his words, and turned to his nephew. "Derek, seriously? Not worth the risk."
"What about you?" Derek asked, looking past Stiles to the younger werewolf. "Yeah, if you want me to comâ" Stiles began shrugging.
"Not you." Derek declares narrowing his eyes at Stiles in annoyance.
"I don't know about Erica but if Boyd's still alive we have to do something." Scott said nodding, and looked back to Peter. "We have to try."
"But?"
"Who's the other girl? The one locked in there with Boyd."
"I'm coming." Melody said getting up from leaning against the window and immediately Derek stood on the offence not liking that idea one bit.
"No."
"I can help."
"I gotta agree with Derek, bringing the mermaid is a bad idea."
Melody's head snapped to Peter. "I can hold my own, my magic is stronger."
"Melody, you're staying here. End of discussion."
"Derek-"
"No, Mel, I'm not letting you get hurt, you'll stay here with Stiles and Peter."
"You think I'm safe with the mass murdering manic here." She waved towards Peter who scoffed.
Derek sighed glaring at his uncle."Peter if you even touch her I'll rip you apart."
"Not if you're dead!" Melody explained making the wolf roll his eyes.
â¸â¸â¸
"I can't take waiting around like this, you know?" Stiles exclaims looking up at the full moon. "It's nerve-racking. My nerves are racked, they're severely racked, racked."
The rest had left a while ago, leaving the mermaid with a clearly freaked out Stiles and the crazy uncle.
"I could beat you unconscious and wake you when it's over." Peter says from the couch, his head thrown back, eyes closed. Stiles turned around fiddling with his fingers. "You think Erica's really dead?"
Melody looked over to him and shrugged. "I hope not, but if she is, then I'm sorry I didn't get to know her, she seemed like a fun girl." Melody said lowly, Stiles nodded patting her shoulder.
"I just... I don't understand the bank, though, okay?" Stiles says walking around. "Wha- like why would they chain them up in some underground lair or something? They're an Alpha pack, right? So shouldn't they have a lair?"
"They're werewolves, not bond villains." Peter mentions.
"Wait a sec, wait a sec. Maybe they're living there, y'know." Stiles tells them, pacing back and forth. "Like maybe the bank vault reminds them of their little wolf dens."
"Wolf dens?" Melody snorted at Stiles
"Yeah, wolf dens." Stiles turned back to Peter. "Where do you live?"
"In an underground network of caves hidden deep in the woods." Peter exclaimed sarcastically but Stiles didn't see right through it. "Wow, really?" He asked shocked.
"No, you idiot." Peter chuckled at him. "I have an apartment downtown."
Melody shook her head. "You're an psychotic ass."
"Okay, fine, but still, that just proves that there's something up with the bank and why wait around for the full moon, huh? Why not just kill them whenever they want to?" Stiles exclaims.
"Maybe they think it's poetic." Peter says, waving hand around.
"They're already had three full moons to be poetic." Stiles declares.
"And here you've only had one full hour to be so annoyi-" Peter paused opening his eyes, Stiles shook his head urging him to continue what he wanted to say.
"No, go ahead, finish what you were saying. I'm an... I'm annoying. What were you gonna say there?"
"What are the walls made of?" Peter asked sitting up.
"What? Uh..." Stiles looked up to the ceiling. "I don't know like wood and brick or-"
"No, the vault, the vault, the walls." Peter walked over to the blueprints on the table.
"What are they made out of?" Melody walked over watching him look through the prints.
"Where would it say that? Doesn't say anything. Wheâwhere would it say the materials, the type of stone?"
"Oh, oh! Hang on." Stiles says grabbing his backpack and brought out a thick binder of papers. "Yeah, here, hang on. Here, it's gotta be in there." He passed Peter the binder.
After a roughly half hour they found the material Peter was looking for. "There, that's it. Hecatolite." Peter read from the page, making Melody's eye widen.
"Is that awful? That sounds awful." Stiles added.
"Get 'em on the phone." Peter simply said. "Call them. Now!" Stiles scrambled quickly to grab his phone. "Okay, why?"
"Cause Boyd and that girl aren't gonna kill each other. They're gonna kill Derek and Scott."
"What why?"
"Give me the phone!" Melody said instead and Stiles gave it frantically before she put it on speaker.
"Stiles, now is not the best time."
"Scott! Scott! No, listen to me, okay? Look, you gotta get outta there. Look, the walls of the vault are made with a mineral called hecatolite." Stiles looked to Melody to explain.
"It scatters the moonlight."
"What does that mean?"
"It keeps the moonlight out. They haven't felt the full moon in months." Melody explained.
Peter sighed residing to explain it differently to the confused beta. "Okay, think of it like the gladiators in the Roman colosseum. They used to starve the lions for three days, making them more vicious, more out of control. Deucalion has kept them from shifting for three full moons, diminishing their tolerance to it."
"Scott, they're gonna be stronger..." Peter cut him off, "More savage, more bloodthirsty, Scott, they're the lions. They're the starved lions, and you and Derek just stepped into the colosseum."
"Derek, we got a problem, a really big problem." Scott told Derek in the background and everyone stopped as they heard what he said next.
"Cora?"
"Who?" Scott questioned in the back.
"Cora?"
A females voice growled through the speaker. "Derek, get out. Get out now!"
"Scott? Hey, Scott! Scott!"
"No. No! Wait!"
"Scott? Scott, are you hearing this? Scott!" Stiles and Melody yelled both panicked through the speaker only for the call to abruptly end.
Melody in a panic graps her keys but Peter stands up. "where are you going?"
Stiles turns to her and she shakes her head at them.
"I'm not just gonna let them die," She starts but Stiles shakes his head and Peter steps in front of her.
"No, stay here until Derek calls, I'm sure they'll be fine," Stiles says, leaning against the table.
"No! What if they need help?"
"Derek threatened to kill me again if I let you go, and I like my life. You're staying even if I have to lock you up." Peter said stepping towards the girl to grab her but a voice stopped him.
"You touch her Peter, and you won't need to worry about Derek killing you." Issac warns glaring at the man as he steps down to walk towards them.
"I'm not just sitting here and you two aren't stopping me." Melody snaps trying to move around Peter again but failing making Isaac speak up again.
"Look, let's just wait for them to call back before we rush head first into danger. Please?"
Melody glared at Issac walking to sit back down.
Now for the hard part: waiting.
